You're so concerned about money that you missed the bigger picture in that comment.

The point is, a Nigerian painter that is NOT being appreciated in his country BUT was valued in another country to the extent of earning over 750K Naira (when converted to his home currency), apart from other side contracts given to him.

In summary, his skill paved way for him coupled with his location.

That's the mistake u are making... U are converting it when he's not spending in dollar... That 1,500 will be quickly spent because they have a lot of taxes to pay like rent,water,light...

If after paying all, how much do u think remain?

Assuming he was earning such in Nigeria, it would have been a different case... When converting earnings also convert spending

He works with a company & all those you mentioned has been sorted.

Besides, he earns from other side contracts given to him.

Well, my point still stand that his skill & location are major determinants, for his success.

According to this Link Nigeria's unemployment rate is 27.1 percent while Nigeria's under-employment rate is 28.6 percent. That is, more than 50 percent of Nigerians are either completely unemployed or grossly underemployed (they get paid little for doing so much).

If you are Nigerian student hoping to further in any tertiary institution of your choice, do not study a course just because you like it.

The only reason why you should study any course should be because of its employability rate. Ask yourself, if I study Biochemistry for example, will I get a job. How many people in the past few years have gotten a biochemistry job?

Jambites are found of going to school to study courses with fancy names but many of these courses won't get you a job or a well paid job after graduation.

Another mistake Jambites make is rushing for Medicine, Law, Accountancy and other courses in their leagues. [s]Why would apply for medicine when you know you'll probably never meet up with the cut of mark? Let's be candid, a high percentage of Nigerian student are average (including myself). It will be absolute foolishness (for a lack of better word) if an average student keep wasting their precious years in search of admission into law.[/s]

There are other non-celebrated courses out there that'll fetch you money, Computer Science, Music, Food and Nutrition amongst others fall into this category.

Gone are the days when a certificate guarantees a job. These days what guarantee you a job as a graduate (or anybody else) is connection, your money or your skill.

Most people don't have money to buy a job, most are not connected but most people can have a skill that'll make them financially independent and that is what you as a student should leverage on before becoming a graduate.

Learn a skill that'll fetch you money.

Regards,
A concerned unemployed graduate.
intelligence and ability can be develop to it's highest peak. If you think academically you're average is because you choose to stay average.
My first jamb i scored 166 and i went for remedial studies, rewrite jamb and i applied EEE. Result came out and I scored 190 and i was given admission. 2 years into the course l, i realize that the employment rate in engineering is very low and i no want turn secondary school teacher so i decided to study pharmacy, i applied jamb again and I scored 273, in putme i score 253. The score no surprise me cause i know the effort i put in to studying. God no shame me and i was given the admission like magic . Now am studying pharmacy, am suppose to be in 300L by now but u know watsup na.
Anyway don't underrate ur intelligence, it can be developed. Choose any f**kin course you want and work for it . I promise you that you will get what you want. Have a growth mindset.

My dear is just about your personal belief don't let anyone bring you down. We still have people who studied what he listed and are still not doing well in does field. Have faith that you we be among those that will do well in your chosen career . Economics is not a bad course at all because am a living testimony.

You are right.

Let me say again, I never said anyone should not study a course they like, I said likeness shouldn't be the only and main reason to study any courses. Marketability of the course should be the main reason.

I didn't label economics bad or not marketable.

I only said before you choose it (or any course) , check if graduates of the particular course are getting employment in your immediate environment.
That is a great determinant and should be considered before studying any course.

This is inspiring.

I don't have a defeatist mindset. I'm just being realistic.

Truth is, we have people who wrote JAMB several times and never made up to 200.

All beings are not created equal. Some people are really not brilliant, they are way below average.

Telling such individuals to keep writing JAMB in pursuit of Law, Medicine, Pharmacy will be a bad advice where there are alternatives.

I wish there was a place u cud siqn up as a free worker... I tried it buh they refused saying "trust issues" i wonder what that means anyway..

Trust issue means they don't know if your intention to volunteer is pure. Next time give your CV and encourage them to call your referee of guarantor to ensure that you will be of good character

Good list.
Quantity Surveying & Electrical (in addition with Electronics) Engineering should also be there.

Not mind the mumu guy that posted the list of courses. Electrical/Electronics Engineering has always been in the top 5 best courses to study in any country yet he didn't even include it in his yeye list

NB
galantjoe go and edit your mumu list and include serious courses.
