ABUJA – VICE President Yemi Osinbajo has said that the problem of Nigeria was not geographical restructuring rather prudent management of national resources and providing for the people properly.
Osinbajo also said prudent management of the nation’s resources and the provision of essential needs of the people were better ways of addressing Nigeria’s development challenges.

The Vice President stated this while fielding questions from a cross-section of Nigerians at a town hall meeting in Minnesota, the United States of America, Sunday.

According to him, “the problem with our country is not a matter of restructuring and we must not allow ourselves to be drawn into the argument that our problems stem from some geographical restructuring. It is about managing resources properly and providing for the people properly, that is what it is all about.

“I served for eight years as Attorney General in Lagos State and one of the chief issues that we fought for in Lagos state was what you call fiscal federalism. We felt that there was a need for the states to be stronger, for states to more or less determine their fortunes.

“So, for example, we went to court to contest the idea that every state should control, to a certain extent, its own resources (the so-called resource control debate). We were in court at that time up to the Supreme Court and the court ruled that oil-producing states should continue to get 13% derivation.

Osinbajo why now? Don't do this to yourself? Your administration has been in power going to six years presently and yet your anti-corruption has got Nigeria into problem the more. There's no direction with your government. On top of that, one if the campaign promises of APC is what you and other members of your government including your principal have continued to deny. This is so bad. So bad.

But remember there will be life after your time in government. Posterity won't be fair to you or your principal if you guys don't turn the wheel of your poor governance around and serve the good people of Nigeria.

Guess it's this same issue of devolution of power/ restructuring that VP Osinbajo/Mr.President and the APC govt campaigned with to attained power yet turned to denied same as an impossibility? 

To think that the same Osinbajo/Tinubu took the OBJ govt to court over this same issue but turned around to overtly denounced same tells a lot about the hypocrisy of these people.

See beyond your hatred and bitterness, the suggestion for restructuring was bore out of the fulani/hausa favouritism and wastage of resources on the place which proper management of resources would have solved

Very correct, if there is effective management of the available resources, restructuring will be useless, most state don't have much IGR to sustain a state, some will be malnourished and some will be well developed

If a state cannot generate enough resources to stand on its own, then they should find the next geographical neighbor and merge with... they can both agree on a sharing formula. Not try to feed off of what you do not contribute to thereby leading to laziness which has been the issues of the NORTH. What happened to the Groundnut pyramid in the North that was once used to feed Nigeria? Why did the North allow such an investment to deteriorate to a stage of not even being talked about anymore ?[/s]

The Restructuring we're talking about isn't power dissolution, it's pure regional Government and review of our constitution.

Without this, there won't be serious turn around in Nigeria.

The VP was popular because of his constant hammering on the concept of restructuring alongside the likes of Tinubu before their advent in government.Today what have happened? They are so much engrossed with benefitting from the skewed system that they dont want to hear anything about the same restructuring.
