Mine: I am the kind of person who didn't mind receiving any amount of the cane on my hand.

I couldn't stand sb flogging me on my back or elsewhere.


Na so that day reach, oga say if no be back e no go flog. I begged him and even lied to him it's a religious sth that I don't receive canes elsewhere.

He later agreed to flog my hand. The cane was so painful. As I was going to sit, he gave one last cane to my back.

I ran mad immediately scratching the pain. It was just like I was dancing. I was laughed at by the teacher and some students.

I vowed to retaliate on the teacher.


Well, we lost the teacher to death about three months later.

I forgave him and really wish he hadn't died. At least, I discovered there were other positive things about him.


2. There was one huge guy in our class we feared and respected. Na so dem dey flog all of us, we cry as per normal. You must always cry if ‘Uncle Tony’ flogs you. But this huge guy was a staunch cain chester. E reach en turn, dem flog am. He just waka go sit down, come bend head dey cry.

Lol.

I laughed that day like mad. Instead make my guy just bend head there, e come say ‘what if my daddy sees this wound now.. ’ Lol.


3. Egungun came to our school environs. They met one guy and flogged him shege. The guy refused to run so they kept flogging him.

People were like ‘oga run na’

E no gree.

He walked like that to where we gathered. He was already gaining fans as a strong posh guy till e come talk amid tears say ‘I swear I go do this egungun sth. I swear. My brother friend na head of Sarz. ’

I couldn't help it but go to the backyard to laugh out loud.

If that RSM KOKO flog u ehn! Tears may likely be involved(even if he only flogs on the palms).
But i love those two RSM tho. Very reasonable soldiers.
But u see the rest like Garuba, Main Boy aka IGBO smoker etc, those guys were nuisance to that school.
But there was a gentle one called saka, i really like that guy.

I just cant forget the day oga clement came to our class jss2c to seize phone due to the fact that it is against the rules of cdssi to bring phone to school, Luckily fro me i did not bring phone to school that fateful day
Oga clement told the class captain to point out people who are of the habit of bringing phone to school
na so gloria started pointing people i was praying in my mind that gloria should not point me
na so gloria shouted idris come out
my heart started palpitating cos oga clement was a wicked soldier then that i felt like the ground should swallow me up
I manned up and started shouting at gloria unconscious of the soldier in front of me cos of the fear
as i pointed at gloria in demonstration of what i was saying
oga clement hit me with the fat cane he was holding at my wrist
that was how my wrist was broken
it is against the rukes of my school for parent to come and complain so i was treated at home and the case was closed

The second scenario was kinda tough on me
Most of my classmate in school den have the habit of keeping their bank draft instead of submitting it to the bursary as validation of payment of school fees cos cdssi always send us home for school fee so some will go and play ps 4 outside instead of going home and some will go to there friends house to play ball
On this bad day my mum gave me my bank draft to go submit in school cos they've being sending home for days but on getting the school the soldiers said they ar going to send us all home cos there were so many defaulters that morning
they rounded us all up to be sent home and majority of my friends though they've paid the school fees but wanted to go and watch merlin at a friend house so i joined them and failed to submit the bank draft...i was happy they are going to send us home cos i wanted to go and learn one of merlin's magic and authur fight
After the soldiers rounded us all up, i was thinking they will send us all home, shockingly we were told to all drop our bag and go lie down on the field that they will beat us 8 stroke of cane each
i couldn't tell them that i have the bank draft in my bag cos that will be extra punishment
that was how the soldiers descended on us ooo
the way they were beating the others and the way the cane was landing on their back was making all my body shake
i started regretting my action at that moment
the kinda fear that catch me was out of this world
They got to me, gave me the 8 stroke, Afterwards we were told to all go pick cutlass and start cutting grass
we worked from around 8-11:30
momma saw my back when i got home but told her i was punished cos all the class were making noise so we were all flogged
so many experience cos i was stubborn then but everything na history now

I went to a seminary boarding school, had difficult seniors and have been flogged numerous times but on I can't forget is when I was flogged by a seminarian who I never sure if na demon posses am

I was in ss3 and a sacristan in the chapel, that evening I was late in preparing a turible fire... The niga promised to give me 600 stroke with a four mouthed fan belt....

During supper he brought me in front of the school and started flogging me...well I received a lot without crying or yelling but when I couldn't I ran from the dining hall, it guy followed me and kept flogging

It was some staffs that saved my ass that night...but even if I had ran out during the flogging, the school still saw me with respect because they couldn't imagine how I received more than 100 before running

The niga still flogged me 32 the next morning
I have said this story a couple of times...nobody seems to believe me but I have more than 300 witnesses and scars on my back after years.....

After which the rest was history as my result now changed from 50 out of 50 to 3rd out of 50. was like a magic to everyone that knew me then even my parents was like WOW!

I had similar experience but this was in my primary 1 and 2 classes. I was the dullest pupil in my class and everyone knew it, even my headmistress was aware of this because my dad always visited to ask why I was not doing well academically. I was forced to repeat Primary 2 after I had spent 1 week with my ‘colleagues’ who were promoted to primary 3. When I was ‘demoted’ back to primary 2 I cried and asked my mum ‘why’? I really didn’t understand why my friends would be in primary 3 while I remained in primary 2. I cried and cried.

To cut the long story short I prayed a childish prayer to God like ‘God, make me know book too na. Help baba God’. Like magic it was as if a new spirit entered inside of me. A boy that came 35 out of 36 pupils in primary 2B, just the previous year, came 3rd out of about 40 pupils. I got many sweets and chocolates for being one of the best performing pupils in my class throughout my primary school days.

Nothing God cannot do my brother.

I attended command day secondary school, odogbo barracks, ibadan. It was Agric assignment and we were told to plant beans. I forgot to plant mine till the deadline elapsed. I finally planted my own on the very day of submission and prayed to heavenly Father for a miracle. Beans refused to grow o. I almost collapsed when aunty asked me for my beans plant. I quietly pointed at the wet loamy soil in my can. The way sergeant Clement flogged me that day ehn... 2. They were chasing school fees defaulters home on this very day. I have paid school fees but I joined the defaulters anyways. We wanted to go and play ps2 and watch Spartacus. One female teacher refused to mind her business and told the soldiers that my mom has paid since last week and I wanted to run away from school . Of course, I denied. . But, after adequate mending, hangings and crawling, I confessed. I suffered gaaaan o....

Here in enugu, we always went to barracks to play ours. With mufti oo. If army man jam you for game house in school uniform, you're finished.

Receiving cane was just like a normal thing where I schooled
No matter how diligent, intelligent, quiet and so on you are, if you avoid having personal problems with teacher you must have group problems which make the teachers more happier
The likes of MR OLAGBENRO, MR TJ, MR ADEBIMPE, MR OMOFOYE, MR OYELOWO, MRS SALEWA, MR OMOBOSOLA. These people will beat you and make the entire class spent days cutting grass

Never flogged at home or in school.
It made me not to believe in flogging as a way of correcting a child.

My own was when I was in SS3.

I refused to go with Cutlass to the school.

When we without Cutlass were asked to kneel down and await our cane,

I later stood up and escaped.

Few minutes later, I was observing from a distance other students whom we knelt down together.

All of them were seriously rubbing their buttocks.

After the compound work, the man who flogged those without Cutlass saw me.

He said he must flog me double for running away. He said for me to meet him later in the day.

I went to him ready for the flogging.

But surprisingly,he said he had forgiven me.

That I should go.

So I escaped being beaten.

During my school days, I was seldom beaten.

On a whole,I was beaten 21 times on my hands, 4 times on back and 5 times on the buttocks.

That shows I was rarely beaten.

My last caning was during NYSC when we were in the NYSC camp in karaye local government area of Kano.

That day,we refused to go for parade.

So the Regimental Sergeant Major (RSM) came to the hostel and flogged us. He gave us 3 strokes each.

Also in the NYSC camp, during man-o-war, one female trainer asked us to kneel down for an offence which I have forgotten. But it had to do with coming to the training with something.

In fact those that lied that they were not aware of her earlier instructions were released by her.

Something told me to lie, but I refused.

I told her that I heard her instructions but was too busy to remember and carry them out. That I just remembered the instructions when I saw her.

She left me kneeling down for a long time.

I told myself that it was better to say the truth and be punished than to lie and be safe like others.

I still believe that I will get a reward for telling her the truth.

Another punishment during my NYSC camp was rolling on the floor.

I can remember twice when all of us corpers were asked to roll on the ground.

I remember one lady. As she rolled, she was seriously crying. But I didn't cry.

In the camp, soldiers and men-o-war called us Otondo.

That was the name they called us.

Now we probably have one of the many reasons why sars was on a rampage. People have been using SARS to settle scores since secondary school.
If you ever had an issue with SARS maybe, it was revenge from someone from your secondary school.
