Ethiopia has existed for ages. I read elsewhere that the first name of Africa was Ethiopia. It was until the Romans conquered the ethiopians that the name was changed. The name of the emperor that conquered Ethiopia was africanos. According to the the Roman's tradition whoever conquered an empire earned the right to have his conquered empire name after him. So africanos was given the right to have Ethiopia continent named after him. Hence the name of Ethiopia continent was changed from Ethiopia to Africa.

I got to know about these buildings in a history book authored by a guy called F.K. Buah(Ghanaian historian).

But I didn't get to see what they really looked like until I watched a documentary that was put together by Ollie Steed on Discovery World several Easters ago.

Wonderful that 900 years after its construction, it is still a tourist attraction as well as still serving the purpose it was built for. That’s a plan for the future that has worked out.
