Igbo people would be insulting people from the north and would always say that, they are not educated. Igbo people are not even educated enough to call northerners illiterates... My reasons: (1) The Edo and Delta people were in the western region and after the mid west state was created, the Edo and Delta people went their way and the yuroba people also, went their way. Now can we say because they were once together, the Edo and Delta people are now and must be Yoruba people.... (2)Edo and Delta people also, splits and now, different states. Can we say that they are still and must be yuroba people... (3) Ikwerre people were under the Easter region and now, they have their own state, can we say that they are Igbo people by force and by must... The reason i have to break down my write-up is because, some Igbo people would still find it difficulty to understand what a nation is all about 2 Likes |

Seerade029: IPOB are making people from Igbo ethnic group look stupid, uneducated and a complete illiterate... From the west of Edo State, you have yuroba Edo mix-up in cultural and traditional settings... From the east of Edo State, you have Igbo Edo mix-up in cultural and traditional settings... Bounce round: The word Ado-ekiti mean people from Edo or royalty's from Edo. Now are the Ado-ekiti people Yoruba or Edo? Please answer this question for me |

Seerade029: No they are not, they've choose to identify with the Yoruba ethnic group even though they have Edo ancestry, they are now Yoruba people.... White people in America are all Europeans by ancestry, but today, they are all Americans. Have you see any Europeans killing themselves over the Americans new identity.... obehi247: Their argument is that Ikwerre language and culture is Igbo. Just from this short clip. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OFEQzqlaA1I We see that when they go around asking Ikwerre people to speak their language it sounds little different from the Orlu and Aro dialects from Igbo. If you ask the Yoruba or the Igbo in Edo and Delta State to speak their language will they start speaking Edo language? |

Pecuman: Lemme ask you this, we have many young generations in Nigeria now that can't speak their languages but speak English fluently does it make them British? At seme border we have Nigerians who speak French at the Cotonou in Benin Republic we have people who speak English as well. It's common to speak languages you share border a with. |

Pecuman: Everybody knows that all the white people in America, Austria and New Zealand have European ancestry and even speak English as a major language... Now, if you ask this same people about their ethnicity or nationality, they will tell you the above countries stated above. Meaning, they are Americans, Australians and New Zealanders, not Europeans Bouns round: Same goes for the white people in South Africa cities of Pretoria and johanisberg Note that the European's now in Europe are not killing themselves insisting that they are all European's by force 1 Like |

valirex: In the video they asked them to speak THEIR language, to speak Ikwerre Language and they spoke a dialect of Igbo. If I ask a Nigerian that can't speak the native languages to speak THEIR language, they will say the can't speak it. They win speak Pidgin and say that is their people's language. |
Re: We Welcome The New Benin Ikwere People by Pecuman: 12:30pm On Nov 19, 2020 |
obehi247: They will say their nationality is American, Australian, New Zealand etc. But they will say their ethnicity is German, Italian, Anglo/English, Boer/Dutch and so on. However, this is still somewhat of a good argument on your part given that many of the people that will say their ethnicity is Irish for example only speak English, however when we look at the genetic make up of let's say Irish Americans it always comes up as majority Anglo/English but with a clear famous Irish ancestor. If we graft the same with Ikwerre, it would just mean that they had a famous Bini ancestor that they all identity with but are genetically mostly Igbo. However, that is just a hypothesis to be tested. But personally, Ikwerre can be Bikerre or Iwhuruosa or what ever they want, ethnicity is based more on current identity and culture than genetics. But they shouldn't start changing history to fit their agenda if that is it, they should just say that they are Ikwerre and not Igbo. |
Re: We Welcome The New Benin Ikwere People by valirex: 1:09pm On Nov 19, 2020 |
Pecuman: 1. Ok in that way will we then say their tribe is now pidgin tribe? 2. Not every Nigerian speak can pidgin nor their language I know a few of them and in the future it's gonna increase with the constant migration from Nigeria. |
Re: We Welcome The New Benin Ikwere People by Nchenches: 1:12pm On Nov 19, 2020 |
valirex:No Igbo person who cannot understand everything these Ikwerre people are saying in this video. No Ikwerre person who cannot understand central Igbo language. Those people who say Ikwerres are not Igbo are funny. Crude oil palavar and how to make crude oil in Ikwerre become shared by every state in Nigeria are behind all these Ikwerre come from Bini. |
Re: We Welcome The New Benin Ikwere People by Pecuman: 2:19pm On Nov 19, 2020 |
valirex: Again, the people in this video were asked to speak their mother's tongue and not just to speak. Nobody will speak Pidgin and say it is their ancestral language. |

obehi247:Ndigbo were actually the first to grant full autonomy to a member of their region in the Old Eastern region after a conference in London 1953. The people granted autonomy are today referred to as Southern Cameroon who went ahead to jump franchise and leave Nigeria totally. So my dear ignorant brother. The saying that to hide something from a black man you hide it in a book is true after all. Unlike the western region, Eastern region gave unconditional autonomy to the southern Cameroon which enabled them to leave Nigeria. Read una say una no go read. We dash una. Ikwerrepikin, ikwereigbo I hope you are ready to serve your new slave masters, the bini. Your oyel does not belong to you, it belongs to your slave masters. We done give up on these confused set of people. Wether they identify as bini or not, take them all. They have ruined their link with the igbo, it was left for the yoruba to destroy it for good. They should stop speaking igbo language, and stop bearing igbo names, so that we can identify ourselves. They only call themselves igbos for political reason. When they do something stupid against the igbos, they will be quick to call themselves igbos, hoping that we wouldn't retaliate. You can take this ikwerre tribe, and do whatever you want with them. When I went to ph, I thought that they where just ordinary igbos, and I didn't know that ikwerre existed until nairaland. 4 Likes 2 Shares |

Bkayyy: My brother, I am happy you are not completely stupid and it's not every time you jump out of the window or skip school to play gamble, smoke or chase after woman... Now to answer your question... Why are the igbo not killing themselves after the southern Cameron people that left them, insisting that they are igbos, but they are now insisting and killing themselves over the ikwerre people that said they are not igbos... Quoting you: "So my dear ignorant brother. The saying that to hide something from a black man you hide it in a book is true after all. Unlike the western region, Eastern region gave unconditional autonomy to the southern Cameroon which enabled them to leave Nigeria." Answering you: The same biafra that is well read, what you gave to southern cameroon to achieve Independence, You could not give to yourself to achieve brafra or abi now biafra Since you know all this fact, please communicate to your semi illiterate self and your completely illiterate igbo brothers, abeg 2 Likes 1 Share |

obehi247:You just made a total fool of yourself with the statement ", what you gave to southern cameroon to achieve Independence, You could not give to yourself to achieve brafra or abi now Biafra" The problem with you ignorant hypocrites is that you fail to realise that Nigeria was the first to go offensive when Biafra was declared making Nigeria the real attachee by force. On the other hand Eastern region care less if southern Cameroon lived or die which is the reason they never went after them or wail about their depature. Now back to the Ikwerre/Ikarre brouhaha. Ndigbo don't actually care if they live or die, it was actually the Ikwerre that rushed to register themselves in Ohaneze Ndigbo (with abeg oh) when they thought they were being marginalized and maltreated by the Ijaw dominated old Rivers state. So it could be said that Ikwerre used the Igbo tag when they feel threatened and dumped it after they feel they are comfortable. Outside Nairaland Ndigbo don't even know who the Ikwerre/Ikarre are. So my dear Ignorant fellow Ndigbo don't actually like to be attached to anything or anybody 1 Like 1 Share |

Bkayyy: After almost giving me a minute chance to to think you where actually some worth educated, you just still spoil everything by yourself... If you and some of your igbo brothers where educated enough, you should have know that, in achieving a nation state, there are processess involved, the Cameroon people did that oh,even you talk say a conference was held in London, you don't just declare it. In such situations, you will be a rebel to the state and war will be declare on you to exterminate you... The Nigeria federal government then, did the needful and of which they are right... Ojukwu did same when the Niger Delta republic was declare by Isaac boro. What the ikwerre people did, show's that they are more educated and politically inclined than the igbos. Pitch tent with the party that would favour you is a political strategy... Bouns round: During the second world war, the British (Royal navy) seek the help of the Americans because they know they can't not win the war alone and today, the relationship forged from that instance is still in existence today thus Nato. When the ikwerre joined the so called igbos socio cultural organization, what they where after, was a relationship not ethnic identification |
