mikel is gold. dude was too smooth and technical for his age 15 years ago. i pray we discover another gen like him soon

Funny part is that this clip does not do justice to Mikel's performance that night. This clip is about his dribbles and skills. It does not highlight the multiple one-touch passing combinations Mikel pulled off that day.

Best news of the day.

I expected Guardiola to stay after he signed Ferran Torres. That was one of the reason Torres chose Manchester City, he wants to work with Guardiola.

We have Amunike. He played in the same team with Guardiola, worked with some of the coaches that coached Guardiola. Went to the same coaching school.

Let us cherish ours and help ours grow.

That's Mourinho there too.

Sydney 2000 Olympics squad remains my best. When you consider that we dropped the likes of Abubaka Musa (Played a lot like the young Mikel), Emmah Isah, Joseph Yobo, Emmanuel Aniele, Emmanuel Ebiede, Sunday Ibeji to mention few.

The Squad.

1 GK Greg Etafia
2 DF Gbenga Okunowo
3 DF Celestine Babayaro
4 FW Johnson Sunday
5 DF Iyenemi Furo
6 DF Christopher Kanu
7 FW Victor Agali
8 FW Bright Igbinadolor
9 FW Yakubu Aiyegbeni
10 MF Azubike Oliseh

Sad Nigeria is where we are. Our football story summarizes Nigeria. A country filled with great potential but succumbed to nothing due to people putting their personal greed ahead of National success that will impact the whole country positively.

Let us not talk of the Coja team, coached by Musa Abdullahi. I actually missed those games but followed them on news. Those guys played some breathtaking, high tempo attacking football.

Yeah, I like that Coja team too. But that was when we were suffering from the Cameroon defeat syndrome and lost to them in the Semis.

My favorite from that team was Alfred Emujarie aka Omoefe. Na my AJ boy too. Very quick on the wings.

Just glanced through the list.

I take the 2000 team over 2008. Coupled with the talents that were dropped. That was a creamer set.

You're stupid bro, Was it not the Jail break in Edo state we discussed here? show me where I defended the supposed killings or leave my mention

If saying that the protesters should go home so that law enforcement can restore order is what you call supporting the killing of innocent Nigerians then you are daft. You guys were chanting freedom when criminals were escaping and now Edo state is in disarray, I hope those criminals exercise their freedom on you guys that supported their jail break

Oga you don't have shame at all....

Even when it was glaring that your talk was way off you still resort to even call me stupid

The legit protesters should go home, the army have a justifiable reason to use excess force to stop the lawlessness being perpetuated by the hoodlums

is this your definition of supporting the government? You clamor for justice against the government but you don't want justice for those people whose properties are being destroyed

Superb post but very heart breaking when you see how intelligent Mikel was. It was like he had eyes at the back of his head and knew what was happening at every inch of the field.

Worst part was that Mourinho did not need Mikel. Alex Ferguson had just transformed one of the bright young talents in football, CR7 into a World Class talent and his touch on Mikel would have been glamourous.

Mourinho did not want Ferguson getting another weapon of Football destruction and fought to scatter that Union.

The fact Ferguson flew to Norway repeatedly showed how much he envisioned a superstar in Mikel.

This was a painful trip down memory lane.

Classic video.

While watching this match, I exclaimed, "Maradona, have you seen how to play the 10 role."

Maradona was in the stadium that day to handover the touch to Messi but Mikel shone like a million stars that night.

Don't be one sided in your opinion watch messi's clip from that game as well.

I don't need the clip. I watched the tournament closely. Without the two penalties given to Messi in the final that gave Messi the Golden boot, Mikel would have ended up player of the tournament without scoring a goal in open play.

He won the silver ball without a goal in open play. Think of the massive impact Mikel had to achieve that feat.

Mikel was clearly the better player.
