Most here do not get the point or are willfully ignoring it.

New Customer trusted the mechanic to get him a good tokunbo engine due to his ratings (if we should use the engine shipped to Jos as an example, that particular buyer had implicit faith the mechanic would send him a good engine ) and got something else. I don't know about you but if I buy a defective product from a store as a new customer, whether they accept it back or not, I'll be wary in the future. That's issue no 1. TRUST

2 Is the communication breakdown between the two parties, The buyer mentioned the attitude of the mechanic before going through the deal. Put yourself in his shoes, Would any of you go back to someone that insulted you, on top of your own money? Not insinuating on the part of the mechanic, never met him. Neither do I know how the customer approached the mechanic also. It might be a case of "because of my money" and "for my own garage" clash

It is obvious they both have sizable EGOS and PRIDE, finding the middle point is solution here unfortunately this thread is full of those who willfully choose to blindly take sides and 5th Columnists. Kudos to werepey & the first reasonable poster

Screenshots would have been a lot of help. What I can say is

Op, what do you want now? Your engine changed? A Refund? State it clearly so the mechanic can also state if he would or not. You're men not petty women. Put feelings aside and settle the business, send/go with a mediator if what you said about the attitude is true so communications won't break down again.

Even Toyota that manufactured the car gave a guarantee because they acknowledged that even with all their meticulous testing, something can go wrong.
Brand new parts fail that's why they are under warranty talk more of used parts.
I understand the trust issues but the op didn't complain about this defective engine until after three months.

You started by saying I don't know what I am saying?

So when a technician received a huge part for a gadget he want to replace, he doesn't do some testing to see if it is good.
I am sorry, I am not a mechanic.
But if u can troubleshoot a device, then you can also test that device.
Pls kindly keep the subtle insult out,
I am not here for that

LeJeun3:

You don't even know what you are saying self....

Owning a car for donkey years doesn't help either. Which parts of the engine are to be tested??

Let your Gazzuzz scammer show us the proof of the tests he performed on the engine to validate the health.

Have you gone to buy cars from car45 before? Do you see the engine health rating on their cars? Are they aliens? Quacks full naija.

I wanted to ignore but lemme oblige you just this once.

You cannot confirm an engine to be 100% problem free.

I have seen a brand-new Toyota Hilux with a failed alternator after a trip of just one kilometre. This is a personal experience.

However I am not supporting Gazzuzz here. He failed to manage the client and this is why it got escalated.

How then will get my car back home? Tow it home?

Have I lost or gained? Have u towed a car recently? From which account will the money come from?

Sir, you may not know the total story from the begining hence you think or feel Gazzuzz didn't manage client well. There are some clients that are just out for troubles. I know this story very well right from the onset.. Because of this man, Gazzuzz suspended one of his senior staffs. A lot have been going on. What more support can someone get from a used part than giving the buyer 3,000Km or 3 months or which ever comes first. As if it's not enough, when the whole buyers protection got elapsed, he was called to come over and get his money and drop the engine?

What other support do you expect that Gazzuzz should give? Same man who's spouse and friends were all insulting and rude to Gazzuzz even before the whole thing just after buying a lemon corolla?

With all due respect, that's not really his business innit. Is he supposed to help you pull the engine? Outside of warranty period?

Why you no complain when warranty still valid sef?
Re: Gazzuzz: Dubious, Insultive And An Arrogant Being by Lush100(m): 8:07am On Nov 22, 2020
This is exactly what is on my mind.
The issue of trust based on gazzuzz high rating,
Then communication skill.
There been a lot of people talking about gazzuzz " arrogance" or pride.
I don't think he is doing it intentionally I just think that is the way his voice sounds. His accent is a bit heavy (people might mistake that for arrogance) and he sounds like he is under pressure,(probably of work, u know it's a heavy duty job).

I've never met gazzuzz b4 but I did call him on phone once, at that instance he did put sorry in our talk, but his other part of talk just made me u-turn. Sounded under pressure.

He can/should work on it.

Op, what exactly do u want now,
U want him to work on this engine or a refund or to replace with another engine?

You talk to much and take sides without reasoning. Seems u find it difficult to comprehend all what the OP is saying.
Taa gbafuo tupu nkita amichaa gi onu.
OP made allegations without proof.
The accused has provided evidence to debunk claims by OP.
OP mentioned in a comment here on Nairaland that he is using Mobil 5w30 of 5500 on a thread where people were complaining about engine issues. OP did not hint or suggest his engine was having issues at this point. That at least would have been in his favour to buttress his claim.

OP was given 3 months or 3000km guarantee.
OP contact seller after 3 months and 6 days according to accused.
If OP disputes above claim, na simple thing, show evidence.
Accused has accepted to take back engine after guarantee had expired and refund OP (if that is not goodwill gesture, I wonder what is).

OP has not provided any proof to any of the claims he has made.

Some people are here to get back their pound of flesh and drag a name in the mud.

Not minding the outrageous charges he billed the guy to deliver this crappy service. Una no get conscience at all.

This is Nigeria, Only a customer exposed to the car part business might understand, the rest? "I expect what I paid for should be good"

The latter part of my writeup explains the possibility of why he didn't already? And judging from what di. portivo wrote of the incident at the garage. There's more to this the two parties are not saying.
