Adakintroy: I disagree 1. We have had many racial tensions/uprisals, albeit not wars, but the Fulani herdsmen massacres are a prime example of that. 2. This country was established as a democracy under Queen Elizabeth II. Any deviation from that was illegal and unconstitutional. The fact you suggest that we should celebrate working within the remit of our law is quite frightening. 3. Fastest growing economy in Africa, but the margin is unknown. A margin of 0.000000011 percent for example ought not to be boasted about. Who says that the colonial master puppet didn’t fabricate this analysis, it’s not as if politics is a clean game. (4.) Ebola and corona virus are temporal in the grand scheme of outbreak and effect. One day they will be both be yesterday’s news. However, Tuberculosis, Cholera, Meningitis, Polio and MANY more sicknesses have been completely ERADICATED in other parts of the world. Yet, properly government managed and funded systematic treatment, not to talk of prevention is IMPOSSICANT for the common man in 9Ja. If an exam paper is out of 100, 3/100 would not even be graded, it will be marked as UNCLASSIFIED. We cannot be seeing minimum levels of survival as something to praise government for. We may as well repatriate to the jungle. What are they being paid billions for if in the end we ought to ‘manage’ |

After recent events, I'm beginning to believe the West doesn't want Sub-Saharan Africa's growth. Take a look at Anglophone and Francophone African countries, none works. The country with the largest number of poor people in the world suddenly is the fastest growing with closed borders for more than a year o? How can such closed economy be classified as the fastest growing? The Brexit crises, are the Brits not intent on signing up for trade deals across the world? Can Britain close her borders to trade for more than a year? Honestly, hitherto, I never accommodated the thought of the west being Africa's woes but with what I read and watch, it seems some folks want Africa destined to perpetual poverty. Which is why I'm ambivalent on the Woke culture and illegal immigration crises, they deserve everything! |

However, when we are head deep in problematic occurrences and recession, World Bank and UK will come out with congratulatory and praise singing of the Nigerian economy.. |

Rugaria: Wait so Luggard said Nigeria must now be called Nigeria and no body in the entire country opposed the new name? To be fair to Nigeria, Ojukwu opposed the Union which triggered a civil war but it was still Nigerians that fought against the break up of the Union that Luggard created. This makes any further blame of Luggard invalid. Let's think critically please. |
Re: Helen Grant: Despite Recession, Nigeria Is The Fastest Growing Economy In Africa by Rugaria: 10:39am On Nov 22, 2020 |
BigBashiru:I have never mentioned Lugard in any of the posts because I know like you rightly pointed out that Nigeria has had numerous opportunities to change course but refused.. I specifically talked about Britain as an imperial power. Essentially I was talking about the actions of Britain today, post independence, post Nigeria-Biafra war... Wasn't talking to about a man that died over a hundred years ago.. |
Re: Helen Grant: Despite Recession, Nigeria Is The Fastest Growing Economy In Africa by BigBashiru: 10:45am On Nov 22, 2020 |
Rugaria: In business there's something called competitive advantage and comparative advantage.... Nigeria is not the only producer of crude oil. Boris Johnson has said by 2030 no 100% crude cars will be sold in UK. So you can see u r overvaluing your oil. They buy from other countries too.... Similarly Britain didn't want to be dependent on Africa for cocoa and they discovered it grows in Asia and started doing business there.... And is "our oil" really ours? Since the white man left has the oil money ever reached you? Let's think! |

Re: Helen Grant: Despite Recession, Nigeria Is The Fastest Growing Economy In Africa by Rugaria: 10:58am On Nov 22, 2020 |
BigBashiru: We are saying different things! You are talking about buying and selling, and I'm talking about wayward imperialism.. As per buying and selling of oil, We also sell to India and China. Those countries get their stakes in Nigerias oil industry by "competing" to win bids. Britain and co imposed Buhari and has been supporting all types of brutal leaders amenable to their interests here. Getting all sorts of kickbacks from the back door as a result. You may say, 'that's the game nations play', but as a citizen of the country at the receiving end who watches as his country goes through the endless pangs of poverty that follows with such intrusion, I have a right to object! |
