Please I need urgent clarification.I was to Travel for a conference in Johannesburg March but due to covid, I couldn't. The conference is billed to hold next month, my passport got expired but my visa validity is ti next year March. I have gotten a new passport. Can I travel with the visa?

Your international passport introduces and confirms your nationality and visa allows you entry into another country. As long as your visa is still valid, of course you can travel with your new passport together with your old passport therein your valid visa.

I got here before making making payment.
You 'll notice I put it in my letter of self-introduction that I will register on arrival.
But note that the option of registering on arrival was a provision by my university and was clearly stated in my letter of invitation.

According to SA DHA rules, visas automatically expire when the passport expires. In fact they tag cases when the expiry dates of visa outlive that of passport as mistake. You can read about it

But I advise you to urgently reapply with your new passport.

I thought they said the embassy won't grant your visa if they don't see it regardless of option of medical insurance by the university

Yes, you can. Make sure you travel with both passport. Safe trip.

You could look that up and see if you meet their admission eligibility.

My siblings visited me early this year. One of them had a valid SA visa on an expired passport but also had a new one. Both passports were presented on departure from lagos and arrival in SA with zero issues so I'm not just posting because I want to, I'm giving first hand experience.

Any frequent traveller can corroborate this.
