New Nigerian Defence innovation.

2 Nigerian companies ( Epail & DICON) collaborate to brings us this advanced border security installation.

Nice one.

This can only be effectively used for base protection tho and not border surveillance cos the range of 2km is quite small. I hope they improve on this to about 15km - 20km

I am jealous of Navies in calmer seas; they can buy all these smaller vessels.
Because of our rough seas here in South Africa, we can't classify anything less than 80m as an OPV.

this Damen 1400 is 72 m long , and 1400 tons

itn't south africcan OPV , warrior class only 58 m , 415 tons ?

The warrior class, which is being phased out, is woefully inadequate for our waters. They were built for the calmer waters of the Mediterranean and were acquired because only Israel was prepared to sell to Apartheid SA. The conversion from strike craft to OPV was always a temporary measure.

Look at the 3 new IPVs for example. 62,2 meters.

Tanks were never built to survive airstrikes in the first plce and Turkey couldn't risk shooting down Russian Jets either. No matter how good your tank, its useless without air superiority, so this I believe isn't a very good example.

I dont think those IPV's will be able to patrol the Mozambican channel when completed,it will be too rough, which means your frigates will continue to patrol those waters. That must suck, because you need them fresh for their Job. Conflict.
You basically bought a Ferrari (Frigates) and have been using it like an Opel(OPV) .
The sooner you get real OPV's the better for the frigates. I think your government is wary of arms deals due to the 1999 scandal, I may be wrong, but each day that passes pirate fishermen are making a killing. We already have a problem with them up here.

The IPVs weren't bought to patrol the Mozambican channel, that would have been the job of the 3 OPVs ...........however that purchase has been deferred.

Rest of your post I agree with wink

the defence review stipulated that we need six OPVs and 3 IPVs..... But we won't see that sort of acquisition in the foreseeable future.

Modern Tanks are designed to defeat a number of threats, including top attacks.

What you see destroyed is a Turkish army M-60 Pulat Tank. It incorporates the latest Israeli countermeasures.

Generally Tanks are constantly marketed as some sort of all defeating weapon system, however the conflict in Syria has completely demystified tanks.

ATGM top attacks

You're probably the first one I'd see say this.

I don't really see the purpose of this vehicle.

The army should instead have gone for the military variant of PF 2.
