I see the Al Hurreya 3 built in 2012 is indeed larger than the Drakensberg wink

yes , and its not the biggest they have built . not sure but i think the biggest ships they have built is these two Domiat , Qena bulk carriers ships 23978 tons, 200 m long in 80's ( with a 38500 tons deadweight)

you can see all the big ships built locally on their official website https://www.alexyard.com.eg/ShipBld.html . more than 35 ships only for big commercial ships

University of KwaZulu-Natal SAFFIRE liquid oxygen rocket study.

Liquid Rocket Propulsion

"Our liquid propulsion research programme focuses on component design for high-performance turbopumps. Milestones to date include the design of a kerosene turbopump impeller, including a CFD-based analysis of its performance, and the development of a high-speed pump test rig to characterise cavitation. This work will lead to the complete design of ASReG’s South African First Integrated Rocket Engine – SAFFIRE – which comprises a small-scale booster engine capable of powering a small-satellite launch vehicle to low Earth orbit."

Research

"The study builds on previous work performed on the design and CFD analysis of a kerosene fuel pump by Smyth and Ritchings for a large rocket engine. An impeller test rig was designed and constructed by Philogene."

The work currently being developed for SAFFIRE includes:

* An electrically driven Kerosene (RP-1) Fuel Pump
* An electrically driven Liquid Oxygen (LOX) Oxidiser Pump
* Impinging Jet Injector
* Design and Performance Simulation of a Combustion Chamber

Technical Specifications

* 25 kN Thrust.
* Propellant mass flow rate of 8.88 kg/s.
* 50 bar Chamber Pressure.

FIGHT AGAINST INSURGENCY RECEIVES BOOST AS NAF TAKES DELIVERY OF ANOTHER MI-171E HELICOPTER

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) today, 2 December 2020, took delivery of a second Mi-171E Helicopter acquired by the Federal Government from Serbia. The Ilyushin 76 Strategic Airlifter aircraft that brought the brand new helicopter touched down at NAF Base Makurdi at exactly 3.15pm today. The Air Officer Commanding Tactical Air Command (AOC TAC), Air Vice Marshal Olusegun Philip, received the new aircraft on behalf of the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar. A combined team of NAF personnel and technical support staff from the equipment vendor were also on hand to assist in offloading the new aircraft, some parts of which came in crates. In addition, officials of the Nigeria Customs Service and the Nigeria Immigration Service were present to ensure necessary documentation.

The new aircraft is the second of 2 Mi-171E helicopters procured by the current Federal Government Administration and brings to 23 the total number of brand new aircraft acquired since 2015. The new aircraft will undoubtedly boost NAF's contributions in the fight against insurgency, armed banditry and other criminal activities in the country. The newly-received aircraft will now be assembled in Makurdi by a team from the equipment vendor, assisted by NAF technicians, prior to test-flying and formal induction into the NAF.

December 2020
12 X DRONES are expected
I also expect to see the JF-17s also in December although the Construction for the Pakistani Mentoring crew is ongoing. By the way China and Nigeria signed another MOU on defense issues , it appears this will be for procurement of some kind , perhaps that is why the details have not been seen or broadcast but it does signify a deepening on Military ties between Nigeria and China. As it is the biggest financial transaction Nigeria has made under the PMB Administration has been the $490.00 A29 Tuscano deal with the USA.
The question needs to be asked at this point what will this deal in terms of short term and long term, one thing the China have been aggressive about is courting African Countries ( specifically Nigeria) on their Military industrial complex, they have not been shy about filling the vacuum left by the Western world.
There will be speculation as: to whether Nigeria will :
Inquire about getting a Mini- Submarine.
The Chinese equivalent of the Javelin Anti Tank Missile.
The Long awaited Frigate.
More APC.
This might be a prelude to the first $ ?Billion Weapons procurement deal we don't know but there's increasing pressure on PMB'S Administration to procure more up to date equipment.

An EW system produced in the country that only does armoured vehicles, according to some here.

"In March 2018, Egypt used the South African GSY2210 electronic warfare system(made by GEW Technologies) in the Sinai Peninsula in the fight against ISIS. The effect of this system reached some parts of Israel and a lot of people could not use their phones which prompted the Israeli authorities to contact the Egyptian Military."

Paramount’s Marauder and Matador vehicles battle proven in Azerbaijan

Matador and Marauder vehicles in service with Azerbaijan have been battle proven in the conflict with Armenia over the Nagorno-Karabakh region.

The September/October edition of Azeri Defence magazine reported that the vehicles demonstrated good performance during the five-day war between Azerbaijan and Armenia in April 2016, in an explosion at an ammunition depot in Gilazi, Azerbaijan, in 2017, as well as during Azeri military operations launched on 27 September 2020 as part of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

The magazine cites several examples of the vehicles performing well under recent combat conditions, including a video showing a Marauder detonating two anti-tank mines under the wheels of the vehicle. Despite the large explosion, the personnel escaped unharmed.

It seems Paramount is on a roll!

South African armoured vehicles spotted in Mozambique

Moz 24 Horas reported that five Marauders arrived in November to reinforce landward operations against Islamist insurgents in the north of the country.

The 17 tonne Marauder, manufactured by Paramount Group, can accommodate up to 12 personnel including two crew, and offers STANAG Level 3 protection. Its hull can withstand a direct explosion of 8 kg of TNT. Other sub-Saharan African operators include the Republic of Congo and Malawi. Elsewhere, Paramount has sold Marauders to Mali, Nigeria, Kazakhstan (as the Arlan) and Singapore (as the Belrex).

First Jordan illegally transfers Paramount products to Libya, now the UAE. I'm also convinced those multiple flights by Turkish A400 planes out of SA during April were illegally sent to Libya.

G5 howitzers seen in Libya

It appears the Libyan National Army (LNA) is now operating South African-made G5 155 mm howitzers, mostly likely delivered by the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

What appear to be Denel Land Systems G5 towed howitzers were seen in a video released on 14 November by the Libyan National Army, which controls eastern Libya.

The UAE acquired G5 and self-propelled G6 howitzers from South Africa and is the most likely supplier of the weapons to Libya – it has supplied LNA forces with other equipment.

What exactly is the spec of this mrap.
Some source would say it can withstand 14kg under hull, 21 kg under wheel and weighs 10 ton
Other sources say 8kg under hull weighs 17 ton. What exactly is the specification

I suspect you're confusing the Marauder with the Matador.

Other sources say 8kg under hull weighs 17 ton. What exactly is the specification
The manufacturer says 8kg under hull and under any wheel. Curb mass according to Paramount is 9,900kg and combat mass is 15,000kg.

South Africa sells several planeloads of military equipment to Turkey, potentially flouting Covid-19 lockdown rules

On Thursday an A400M military transport plane, carrying a donation of medical supplies arrived in Cape Town. A second arrived later that day while a third and fourth aircraft on Saturday. At least one more aircraft is expected in the next day or two to pick up what Turkish ambassador Elif Ülgen explained was “some kind of military ammunition” purchased from Rheinmetall Denel Munition (RDM). Only the first arrived with medical supplies on board.

pic 1: Rare pic of algerian BTS-4A Armoured tracked recovery vehicle

Recovery vehicle BTS-4A was built on the chassis of tank T-54. not sure but i think the hudge snorkel is used for deep wading like pic 4 (not a BTS)

From wiki :
An armoured recovery vehicle (ARV) is typically a powerful tank or armoured personnel carrier (APC) chassis modified for use during combat for towing or repair of battle-damaged, stuck, and/or inoperable armoured fighting vehicles, such as tanks and armoured personnel carriers (APCs). Most ARVs have motorized tracks, like a tank or bulldozer, enabling the ARV to operate on uneven ground. The term "Armoured Repair and Recovery Vehicle" (ARRV) is also used
