Always snap their cutting list and compare what they write with the physical sheet supplied. Those aluminium roofing sheet sellers are all thieves. Even those on nairaland are the same. Be careful when dealing

I honestly don’t like people who talk too much even my madam knew “I’m a straight-to-the-point no-time-for-long-thing guy.”

My painter once made mistake on the colour he bought for one of my project and I told him “This colour won’t fly! It must be replaced.”

The man started sweating profusely and I told him “That’s my problem to worry about and not yours. You’ve bought the paint. I just do not like the colour. It wasn’t as if you ate my money or trying to sell me something I do not like. Anyone can make that mistake - including me.”

Hello guys, a friend said Lagos ‘salt’ sand isn’t good for building as it doesn’t stand the test of time and that his dad bought sand from Abeokuta to Lagos when he was building his house.

Problem is there’s not much space on the site to buy much sand so we intend buying in bits.. say 30tons everytime we need to so buying out of state isn’t possible.

Please guys, How does one detect a good sharp sand for building?

My step father build his house while I was still in elementary school. I finished high school over 30 yrs ago. The house still standing without any crack. There are houses they built for over 50 years in the same town that is still standing. the house block was set with beach sand they only use sharp sand for the concrete so it does not corrode the iron.

You are on point. All of them are the same. One of their tricks is when you tell them another person's quoted sqm, they will reduce their own a bit to get the job. They can NEVER tell you the actual measurement. But if am using stone coated, I won't call anybody to measure anything for me. I will just be buying it in bits just like asbestos or zinc. If after using the ones I bought and it's not enough, I will go and buy again. It hurts to see these guys cut of your throat on a job you will still pay them for.
