What this means is that publishers can shut you down if they don't agree with you...and in any case a publisher infringes on your right, you can bring a law suit against them....just like the Covington high school kid that was defamed by CNN, ABC, and other big publishers , he got paid millions of dollars in settlement.

If you are a platform, like Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and co, normally you don't have the power to vet posts and decide for people what passes as right or wrong...

The law makers inserted that section in the Constitution granting them immunity from legal suites...
The platforms have since abused this privilege...they now shut down whoever they chose to however they want...nobody has attacked the freedom of speech any more than these platforms...

First, because of section 230, owners of websites or news sites where third parties publish information such as Twitter Facebook etc, are immune to prosecution for what people post on their sites.

But when such sites start auditing third party contributions, they are taking control of third party contributions on their platform and taking responsibility.

So they cannot be censoring and auditing content and still want immunity. The termination of section 230 gives them the control they want to have but at the expense of losing their immunity against prosecution arising from any infringement or defamation by third parties on their site.
