Hi,

Thanks for the clarification.

Do you know for how long IELTS result is considered valid? I guess 2 years right?

Is the NSE for undergraduate programs only?

evergold:

This is not true. For NSE both suffices. General gives you added benefits if you want to use it for Express entry

Thanks for this post @JustMellow. That your sponsor's bank does not offer the requested MyBankStatement Certificate, is that reason cogent enough?

I'm asking becuase my hubby is my sponsor and First Bank does not offer this type of statement but my bank offers it and we have a joint account in a bank that offers it too. The only challenge is that these 2 banks does not contain all my proof of financial support which I submitted with my application but they have the 30k CAD combined. The remaining PoF are in several other financial institutions in investment accounts like local & foreign shares, asset management etc.

What do you advise please? Can i still opt for the normal processing channel?

My sincere apologies for the late reply... I trust my fellow capable member (Justmellow) was able to address your questions.

Considering that your Sponsor's bank does not offer the MyBank Statement with ticket ID and password. I'll suggest you inform the responsible immigration office via the IRCC webform and appeal that your application should be processed through the regular channels. I don't think its logical to transfer the funds in other account just to make up the 30kcad.

Let me know if you've any other questions

Hello people,

@justmellow

For those that have made travel plans, Is it true that IRCC now requires that we show proof of funds at the point of entry? Please see the information in the screenshot below from UBC, looks like we have to provide the banks statement that we used to apply and a new one, how true is this?
I also saw similar information on IRCC(second snapshot) but IRCC just says “you must show proof of funds” they did not request for 30days statement or any specifics. My question is : will it be sufficient to show them the same bank stmt that i submitted when i applied?

Indeed, I wasn't asked for proof of funds but I was asked if I have already paid my tuition at Toronto Poe, that's was typically the only question asked that tilted towards financial capability, the rest was just general questions but still I really don't know if others would be asked for pof.

im seeing here that if your bank doesnt offer mybankstatments you should opt for normal processing... cant i upload the normal bank statments and just add a letter stating that my bank doesnt offer that service? because ive already paid for the ielts exam and i dont want this to go to waste

I hope this message meets you well and healthy.

I write to bring to your attention that the Part 17 thread has long been overdue. I would appreciate it if we progress to the next level.

Anything is possible. Since you've gone ahead to pay for the IELTS exam, get your results and upload a copy of your test report form via IRCC webform and advice IRCC as to the reason why you're unable to provide the MyBank Statement with ticket ID and Password from your bank in Nigeria.

Good day Sirs/Mas,

Please I want to ask what are the chances of the V.O requesting for bank statement behind the applicant even after submitting documents?

As usual, your prompt response appreciated.

The responsible immigration officer is requesting for a MyBank Statement with ticket ID and password so as to enable them to effortlessly verify the authenticity of the PA's statement without waiting for verification mail from the bank. The MyBank Statement Certificate is usually raised on behalf of the Canadian Embassy, hence, they can dictate fraudulent financial statements.

See IRCC ooo from 14 weeks to 31 weeks sad sad... abeg how many weeks dey one year, wey dem they say 31 weeks

Generally, towards every end of the year IRCC tends to increase their processing times to 31 weeks and above... So, this is normal, there is no room for panic. The current processing times will remain same until from February, before the will consider reducing it.

Yes, this information helps but the 30kCAD... is it before or after paying tuition fee?

The 30KCAD should reflect in the MyBank statement after paying tuition fees (i.e if your intended DLI advised you to pay upfront tuition fees to secure your seat).

Good evening everyone. Honestly I don't even know what's going on oo, after thinking it's just ielts left for me, now they're talking of proof of funding at the airport. Honestly it's not easy. BTW I'm writing my ielts academic on the 12th, any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

Please people that used Abuja vfs what was your passport timeframe...
I submitted my passport on Thursday and it got delivered on Friday close of business but I didn’t get any email from the vfs (I am hoping that by Monday I would get a mail as regards that)
please I would like to have an idea of the timeframe for people that used Abuja vfs, cos I booked my ticket for 18th and I am hoping I will get my passport before that time.
Thanks in advance
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 17 by Dampops(m): 9:13pm On Dec 05, 2020
Wow...a big risk you’ve taken. Abuja processing has averaged 3-4weeks while Lagos has been 4-6 weeks. 18th is circa 2 weeks away.

Fingers crossed. You should get the first email by Monday to confirm it’s arrived at VFS.

Best of luck

Information!!!
Those that are coming to Canada. Endeavour to come with your school enrollment verification and school fee payment print out/receipt. This is very very much important. Without the enrollment verification from your school to show you enrolled for the program, they might refuse your travel. And they also ask for the school fee receipt when before issuing you your study permit.

Wawu... that’s insane, I was of the opinion it was 1-2 weeks max, well there isn’t any cost for change of date for my ticket so I guess I am good.
But damn 4 weeks...
hopefully mine would be faster grin grin
I give them 1 week to do normal... grin grin

Congratulations to everyone who has successfully gotten their study permit approved. I’m a late September applicant and got refused yesterday. All appropriate documents submitted, two pages sop which I believe was solid enough, 26 years old, applied for another Bsc, I have a a first degree in tourism management which I never used for work, I’m fully into business now, and I applied for a Bsc in Business administration, I showed all my business documents and sponsors documents. I am willing to reapply again and possibly defer my admission till Spring 2021, please how soon should I reapply. Also I already passed Medicals for this current application will I need to do another Medicals I wish to get the study permit on my second trial . Thank you.

I regret to hear about the outcome of your application. Given that your application was refused based on your purpose of visit to Canada, I will suggest that you put more effort in constructing a persuasive and concise SOP/LOE that will demonstrate that you're a bona-fide applicant and would depart upon the completion of your studies.

The Letter of Explanation should extensively and convincingly explain the lucrativeness and reasonableness of such program (BSc in Business Administration) in your home country considering it's exorbitant tuition fees. If it is financially rewarding back here in Nigeria that can offest the cost of the program in Canada. The range of opportunities the program in Canada will bring to you as a person. What you intend to achieve in a short-term and long-term basis. Since you claim to have a registered and functioning business, you should clearly state that this business is of utmost importance to you, and going to Canada is solely to advance your career prospects so you could expand your business into a global brand. More importantly, you should emphasize on the difference you will make when you return to your country e.g you being a business consultant in the long-term by providing critical business solutions to multinational companies and government as well as using your business for creation of wide range of employment opportunities for teeming youths in your home country etc...

I hope this information helps. Also, order for your GCMS notes, so we could have a clearer picture about your refusal.

Just check your school portal or request for it from the school. Those guys at Lagos international airport almost cost me to miss my flight because of this. Someone I met there was also held down because of the same enrollment verification letter. It took prayers for God to touch them to let me through, I had to call my school and presented a letter from my supervisor. I'm just doing this because I don't want anyone to fall a victim of this.

Hi John.

To the best of my knowing. IELTS general is for immigration purpose. IELTS academic is what you're required to write since you're going to school.

Hello pls stop that sir.

Point of correction...

For NSE, the type of Ielts is not specified therefore, anyone would suffice....

If the school requests for Ielts, that's when one would do academic.....

PS: always search Nairaland for specific topics before asking. Chances are most questions are already answered in previous posts.

Yeah, it was nice I thank God. The POE is no problem if you posses your ArriveCan receipt, letter of introduction, a form will also be given to you on the plane make sure is duly and honestly filled cause they won't attend to you if you don't fill it before approaching them and don't forget to include payment receipt or print out of the tuition fee you paid because they might require it in POE. Be ready also to answer some questions depending on the officer that attend to you. My own wan resemble interview
