it wasn't special..penalty against juve isn't a special feat. When did football prowess and proficiency dovetail into taking penalties? Football is really dead.
So you never stop crying since last night...

Ronaldo won a penalty
Ronaldo scored two penalties, abi you think it's easy to score 2 penalties?
Ronaldo dragged defenders away for Mckennie's spectacular goal...
Ronaldo helped back in the defense...
Ronaldo did all with lackluster midfield...
Yet you barca/messi fans have the audacity to tell that he did nothing...

They are quick to shout penaldo, Messi has played more penalties in laliga this season than anyone, he has more penalties goals than open play goals this season, why can't he tell laliga to cancel those goals because they are penalties?
They are both great but Ronaldo can give you scoring hope than anyone, he's a goal Messiah.

What I don't know is what make people adjudged that Messi is better than Ronaldo. Messi is a great footballer no doubt but apart from dribbling where in he's better, Ronaldo has more quality, more game attributes, more sophistications, more results, more performances, more fit and agile and by far mor achievements than Messi, forget the six ballor de'or scam in favour of Messi he did not deserve two of them

Lol, Juventus had better not be deceived, this current Barcelona side will make any decent team other than Ferencscravos believe that they are exceptional.

In pure footballing terms, Messi was a class better than every other player on the pitch yesterday including CR7. He dictated play, played three key passes, had a whopping 11 shots, with Buffon in very good form, dribbled through the Juventus players effortlessly time and time again.

Someone else on the pitch then scores two penalties in the game with no further meaningful contribution and you think he outshines a pure footballer I described above, you obviously a football dunce if you think this way. The only reason Messi did not get the man of the match yesterday was because he was on the losing side and that speaks to the cross he has to bear with this terrible Barça team who are completely non-existent defensively.

I and many others did not see Messi's penalty scored against Juve in the first leg as a big deal, even though he had more delightful contributions apart from the penalty in that game. If anything, Messi has been consistently criticized this season in many quarters for having too many penalty goals.

For now, this is Messi's cross until he leaves. Congrats to Juve and CR7. Other teams should expect their bonuses from Barça as well.

He(Messi) had more shots (11), more shots on target (seven), more touches (125) and more duels (19) than any other player on the pitch.

Ronaldo is like a sniper in war... messi is just like all those soldiers that fire bullets indiscriminately hoping to hit one or two enemies... ronaldo was the difference yesterday... won a penalty to open the scoreline to their advantage , it helped the tactics of the game , he drew 2 defenders to leave mckennie free to score that spectacular goal... he also scored the 2 penalty and the 3rd goal to kill the game .... how else can someone make a difference in a game ...

Those guys are fools... If Messi had done exactly what CR7 did yesterday they'd shut down the internet with noise.
Messi can dribble and play heaven on earth but what will always matter is the end result.

I had to log in just to educate Messi fan boys a little about the importance of "penalties".

Penalties have been a part of the round leather game since its inception and is not going to go away any time soon.

While football brings excitement and entertainment to players, fans and spectators alike, the real essence of playing is to score goals. If you like play well, get the highest chance at goal and unimaginable possession stats, if you don't score a goal, you don't win.

Without goals, there is no winner. For a winner to emerge sometimes( after goalless encounter) a penalty is awarded.

You see? although penalties are often awarded for fowls and reckless decisions in the box, its importance should not be undermined.

Do you know that people miss penalties? scoring it is not often very easy.

Do you know that if Messi had scored some of his most important penalties he would have been both a world cup winner and a Copa America winner?

Do you know that there have never been a season where Ronaldo's penalty goals outnumber his open play goals? NEVER

Do you know that at just 33years of age Messi's penalty goals are MORE THAN TWICE HIS OPEN PLAY GOALS?

When you want to criticize, please be objective. Penalty goal is just as important as an open play goal. They give points and decide trophies and create history more than aimless dribbles.

I like Messi because he is a very brilliant player, but obviously I like Ronaldo more.

Messi scores a penalty against Juve and its OK by you. 6/8 of his goals in this season are penalties (which is OK to me and you) but doest get a nick name like Pessi. When our darling CR7 scores one or two penalties, you hate for him will wear suit and you'll start ranting and diminishing the importance of the goal.

Since you know more than UEFA, oya come and place Barca ahead of Juve as group winner na

You can use the "shots on target and dribbles" to do that. At least, Eden Harzard and Neymar have used their dribbles to win the Champions league too

I hear you o. But at least those that you mentioned, Messi and Sand still scored open play goals that required some level of brilliance and not penalties in those games you mentioned. However, the penalties yesterday did not require CR7 to do anything other than score those penalties and I have no problem with that. The only thing I have a genuine issue with is screaming about it as if it was the basis for an exceptional performance when in reality it wasn't. Even Arsenal reject, Aaron Ramsey terrorised the Barça defence way more than Ronaldo and that demonstrates the total defensive incompetence of Barça.

I am not naive to the fact that Messi's individual brilliance yesterday would be swallowed up by Barça's collective scandalous display and as such I don't expect accolades for Messi when his team lost woefully. But what is equally hypocritical is the over-exaggeration of CR7's penalties. If the roles were reversed, I would be worried by Messi's lack of other input apart from the penalties against a torrid defence.

So I acknowledge that CR7 trumped Messi yesterday on the basis of results. But it was nothing close to "outshining" on an individual level.

You clearly don't have an idea of what you're talking about. Messi was the best player on the pitch last night . Created the most chances, the most passes and shots on target. Then buffon too. Apart from the two penalties, Ronaldo was inconsequential in that team yesterday...

Re: Ronaldo Outshines Messi As Juventus Beat Barcelona by DrayZee: 11:03am On Dec 09, 2020
So people are saying that Messi played better because he had more shots that went straight into the hands of the keeper. All of Messi's shots were unbelievably easy to catch. Buffon barely needed to move to catch 6 of the 7 shots that Messi sent. It's like he was hoping Buffon will just allow the ball to enter.

Imagine if Ronaldo was the one just shooting anyhow towards the post and the keeper didn't even need to move to catch them., he'll be insulted and ridiculed. But if it's Messi, he'll be praised for it. The bar is sooo low for Messi. He scored one penalty against Juve and he was praised. Ronaldo scores 2 against Barca and some confused people are complaining.

Modified: Buffon was absolutely stellar for Juventus. Most other keepers would have lapsed at least once against Barca.
