The Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami has said that the National assembly of Nigeria has no consitutional powers to summon the President, Muhammadu Buhari.

In a shocking statement issued on Wednesday, Malami stated that the president cannot be summoned to give account of operational use of the armed forces.

In his words; "National Assembly has no constitutional power to envisage or contemplate a situation where the president would be summoned by the national assembly on operational use of the armed forces”.

The AGF's comments are coming amidst the President's scheduled appearance before the House of Assembly to give account of the nation's efforts towards combating the rising spate of Insecurity and economic challenges.

POLITICS NIGERIA earlier reported that the President had cancelled the appearance amidst fears that he may not be able to give a proper account or field questions from enraged lawmakers.

grin

this is what happens when you are operating with a none consensus constitution, but a constitution written by greedy elects to hold on to power for their unborn generations.

if NASS can't invite a president for questioning, what right does citizens have to ask for accountability?

it a common knowledge we are not practicing democracy neither are we practicing federal system of government, everything that has to do with the system have been bastardize.

there is a question we are yet to ask, when we obtained democracy in 1999 are our leaders aware of what they agreed to? are they aware that we won't be practicing true federalism as a bargain for democracy?

was it why the effort to restructure the country to true federalism was meant with stiff opposition? who are those benefiting from this structure that leaders are not accountable and can remain in powers until death do them apart?

why is the president electing INEC officials if our votes can count contrary to our president demands?

is high time we restructured this country and bring our leaders home from Abuja, the early the better. we can't be blaming Abuja for our miseries and our grandchildren continue from where we stopped.

if the president of America was the one appointing judiciary heads would there have been any opposing elements to his demands? we have a judiciary that works for the president because they are grateful to him by appointing them, why don't we measure success with hard-work than favour?

Yeah! So when has it become a norm in our democratic journey that the national assembly of a country cant summon a president? Buhari is now a god that is neither answerable to the NASS or Nigerian people but being shielded away from public scrutiny at all times? So the question remains who is in Aso Rock?

Well, nothing new.A handpicked rubberstamp stooge NASS have no right to summon or impeach a lifeless president. Malami is plain stupid.Everyone under this useless government is just lawless.I guess zombies are enjoying how Buhari is treating them with impunity? Una go get sense by force

The precedences Buhari has set In this country, we might be needing a national conference/confab after him to douse non-chalant attitudes of future presidents.

All I know is that one day, Buhari and everything around concealing him inside that Aso Rock will be blown out to the public.

The same way Turai tried doing to Umaru Yaradua but eventually smoked out. If it isn’t blown out now, it will be later

He definitely can't do a live session with the national assembly because he is clueless about the happenings in the country that's if that's the Buhari we know.

Re: Malami: National Assembly Has No Power To Summon Buhari by Generalwoodz(m):
The NASS has everyright to issue smmouns to any person in Nigeria.

Malami who is an adviser to the president and NASS should know better that executive power resides with the president, that power is not absolute. The president cannot play God. The president is subject to the constitution and to the laws made by the National Assembly. The National Assembly is the arm of government constitutionally empowered to oversee- that is supervise –

president in the execution of the governance of the land, not the other way round. That is why the current attempt by the president to use the Attorney-General to subvert the leadership of the senate is not only a subversion of the constitution, but it amounts to an attempt at a civilian coup
