So I was thinking, after the APC caretaker working committee said its would decide on zoning come June 2021. I believe APC would zone its ticket to the South but the North will still retain power come 2023.

Now let me list the things we are certain of

1. We are sure and certain that Atiku would win the PDP ticket.

2. We are also certain that APC would zone its ticket to the South to acknowledge the 2013 merger agreement but which part of the south? that I can't tell you for now.

3. If APC zone its ticket to the South, the VP is definitely coming from the North. And its won't be one of the big boys from the North because the North does not want the South to gain most vote in the North. And its not coming from the middle belt because the middle belt are considered an highbred of the South.(Benue,Kogi and Kwara )

Now why the North will retain power

1. If APC zone its ticket to the South west and and Atiku picks his VP candidate from either East or S'South. The South would be divided. ( From 1999 till date the South east has always given PDP a block vote, now look at the South south, all states belongs to PDP another block votes) If the west with APC ticket could not win the entire south, where would they get the numbers?? not forgeting that ATIKU is from the North and also won 18 states in 2019 election just 1 state behind BUHARI.

2. If APC zones its ticket to the east, the west would feel betrayed and how they would react to this is uncertain. There might be a massive defection to PDP and trying to put one of theirs as VP but this would be opposed by the larger PDP region in the South. in other words, under this setting, anywhere ATIKU picks his VP, he would still win with a wide margin. And the North still retain power.

2. If APC zone to the South South, the region has no APC state, the west would feel betrayed and the east would give PDP a block vote. the North still gains.

Do you honesty have a contrary view or opinion on this?? what other permutation do you think would give the south the presidency come 2023 IF BOTH PARTY ( APC & PDP) DO NOT ZONE ITS TICKET TO THE SOUTH.

pls there is no need for tribal bigotry, let discuss politics..

Buhari will hand over to a fellow northerner! It's very clear to all discerning minds that this has always been his plan. Any body thinking otherwise is simply wasting time. But that move will bring the desired agitations from other sections of the country to set things right or blow things up..

But do you think there is any permutation that could give the South the ticket if both party do not zone to the south??

Good question,
There's a chance of forcing the hands of the north to hand over to the South if the south could agree to work together, at least for that purpose. But at the moment, there are lots of anger and frustrations and mistrust between the regions in the south. Basically, each of them are just angling to reach a better deal with the north. In essence, they're trying to outflank each other and the north knows this.. So the north prefers to play some sort of "devide and rule"game... I personally think that Buhari handing over to his brother won't be bad for the south in the long run. It will provide the south with something close to the June 12 moments when Babangida annulled the presidential elections about to be won by Abiola. Such moments should then be siezed to force out more political concessions from the powers in Abuja just as the agitations for June 12 led ultimately to democratic rule..

Buhari will hand over to the north

The issue raised are total bullshit. He is judging northerners using the standards of his own people - the assumption that northerners will only support a northerner for president.
Nothing like permutations in APC because no matter what you wish, APC candidate is going to the south west, it is a pre merger agreement which will be honoured to the latter. PDP ticket will go to anyone who has money to buy it most likely Atiku.
Atiku can barely win his own state in an election, the only way he can win the north is if his opponent is from the south east.

Looking at the North voting pattern since 1999, they has always voted a northern candidate against a south candidate. expect both candidate come from the north.
Buhari vs Obasenjo 1999-2003
". ". ". ". ". ". ". 2003- 2007

now in 2007 its was a northern against another
in 2011 Buhari Vs Goodluck

2015 the same thing.. one thing peculiar about this pattern is that the north always need to south to win.

The north had always voted for one candidate, Buhari, you can't use their love for one man to assess the voting pattern of the north. Ribadu also contested elections on a bigger party than Buhari in 2011, did he win any northern states?

OP I strongly believe the north will retain power in 2023.

They themselves have said it in many quarters using their foot soldiers.

Their reason was mainly that, the south is better off than the North which is been ravaged by war.

We all know there's no end in sight for the terrorism up north.

So they figured only a northern president who personally feels the pangs of terrorism in the north can whollistically retire it.

While their zone is ravaged by war, the south continued to blossom in economic activities.

That since they have the numerical strength they are willing to ruffle feathers to retain the presidency whether through APC or PDP.

It's a pity they overrated buhari because he was a General. They thought a Daniel had come to judgement. They thought Boko Haram was afraid of the No nonsense reclused ancestor. But buhari disappointed!

Somehow, I believe their reason is good enough, but I'm sorry this is Nigeria. Nobody is willing to show you understanding because everyone is treacherous.

Therefore, we are waiting to see how it pans out.

Political advantage of one zone over another should be thoroughly and quickly looked into.

The whole electoral system can do with an overhaul.

These are matters for the National assembly, but political patronage for both ruling and opposition parties has beclouded their patriotism.

The North had the option of choosing from more than one candidate in every election which has always made Buhari the favourite because of his consistent trial. Believe me you, Atiku would be their favourite by 2023
