The more haters try so hard to hate the great Igbo race, the more we progress and conquer. She have unknowingly or knowingly shot herself in the leg. Her career is on the high way to the grave.
listen to the song, it is one of praise and admiration. But is it genuine

Hypocrites!!

But they're free to call A northerner onye ugwu, call a Yoruba man afonjaa or ndi Ofe mmanu!

People that are filled with hatred and bitterness!!

That's how they once attacked Teni for calling Erica omo igbo.

These people can't take 5% of what they're dishing out to other tribes on daily basis.

If I do, it doesn't matter but if a newspaper, TV or radio station, influencer, or artist does it, then the matter becomes serious. BTW Aboki & Afonja are not offensive.
same thing nyamuri is not offensive.

Aboki is not derogatory to them, neither is it used derogatorily by Igbos. I remember back in the 80s, our gateman Idris was teaching me small Hausa, he told me Aboki means "my friend".
also nyamuri mean nnyem mmiri. So how is it offensive.

Never knew 'Nyamiri' is a derogatory word for "Igbos". all along I had thought its the Hausa Name for Igbo. I use it frequently for my Igbo brothers, i am reading the Historical origin nown grin grin. am learning
If the larger Igbo speaking people knew the historical origin of the name "Igbo " which they use to refer to themselves now, they would accept Iyanmiri nomenclature than being called "igbo ". The origin of the name is most derogatory than what any of them can think of today.

Like I told you earlier, all those names you listed ends here on nairaland...
The only name we call the hausa's is aboki..
Which means"my friend"
If you call me my friend in Igbo there's absolutely no way I'd find that offensive!

and if you call me ba no ruwa I will not be offended.
Most you like to insult other people but if you are given a little of what you are giving others you begin to cry.
Nyamuri mean nyem mmiri. So how is it offensive?

Very stupid song...

No rhythm no nothing and yes its offensive to me as Ibo!

No cogent message whatsoever but something to trend and maybe bring a buck or two back for their investments! Distasteful

But many of you use Almajiri here do you care how the Northerners feel? I remember some of you saying on this platform you do not care as far as aboki shines your shoe.. Did u care about their feelings? I have said it and said it over again.. Our people are intolerant. They start things and when it flips they cry. Before you do sth next time pinch yourself if it is painful don't pinch someone else. That is an igbo saying. The elders knew what they were talking about.

A lot of Non hausas use " Aboki" derogatorily on hausas, even though it really means friend. Times have changed, ask around.

. Stop lying. I am Igbo and onye ofe nmanu and ndi ugwu is used to describe yoruba and hausa both in the East and even in lagos in yoruba land... Do unto other what you want done to you. Simple golden rule.

what about okoro.

Yes, this is fairly common(e.g Omo Okoro or awon Okoro) especially in the 1980s.
However, Okoro is not a derogatory term. It's igbo word for man.

If it is a sensible word, then why is it used by northerners to refer to Igbos??
Pls don't even quote me again.
If you don't understand the sensitive nature of the derogatory word she used..

Inyamuri: Typically how Northerners would refer to anyone of Igbo extraction.

Historically, it is pretty nasty and considered derogatory, considering how the name came to be.

ALTHOUGH, the lyrics do not ridicule, taunt, or laugh at any divide, its historical background is the problem.

so don jazzy is igbo? Which part of igbo is he?

Nothing is wise about it. Ethnic banters are one thing, rubbing certain slurs on one's face is another. The word is derogatory and not a wise business move. And to think that it is coming at a time when ethnic gaps are getting wider on a daily, it is a wrong call.

Mavin shouldn't have let this slide. Don Jazzy is half Igbo and should have been abreast of the history of the name. This is a miss.
half igbo ? How ?
