This is plantain season so it can't be encouraging. Do the market women come to your farm to buy? If so, take it to the market yourself. If the quantity is small, you can retail it yourself
Re: Please How Do Sell My Plantain by RedPanthar: 7:59am On Dec 12, 2020
How much per bunch do they buy your plantains?
Re: Please How Do Sell My Plantain by eddy2farm(m): 8:06am On Dec 12, 2020
No I do take it to them. Yesterday they were pricing dozen for just 2500 which is very bad for me

Hahahahahahahahaha. They want to kill you evil souls. Dozen some buy 4500/6000 Naira

You need to interact with out farmers like you around you. They will guide you on how to sell. There are many plantain farmers in Edo on the forum. Start by locating such persons and speak with them for guidance on how to go about it

don't fret just keep drying them. when you have a good volume that it covers your cost of transportation and others and still leaves small change for you then, move them to mile 12 or better yet find your market over there. I am very sure once you get the right women you would not be able meet up to the demand

fresh plantains are overrated during the glut so improvise by drying

I always laugh at farmers. The solution is right in front of you, but the problem with you guys is that you do not keep your options opened, and you always fail to plan marketing ahead. You are robots who stay just within your environment. This is why market sellers and agents beat you hands down everytime.

OP season changes. In Benin, you still have frequent rain this year, so they will knock you out like how Anthony Joshua has just KO Pulev because plantain is still surplus in your region. Start thinking. You are in South South, move to regions where rain has stopped a long time and sell your plantain. There are regions around you temperature is above 36C during the day presently. I priced it at a major market (wholesale price) yesterday, and a bunch is N3,500. Just one bunch. You stay in Benin where there is still rain and you expect it to make you smile. Move to where there is no rain and cash out.

No need to advise them. You see they all almost ignored you. Lol. They want to sell in bulk, but not ready to do the right thing. Its after they have excess products they start looking for sharks to buy. And those ones always knock them out. Just dey watch as they give you million reasons they cannot do this, and they will even abuse you when you try to encourage them further. You better be watching. Are they not farmers?
Re: Please How Do Sell My Plantain by endy232: 5:19am On Dec 13, 2020
Simply negotiate the service of an agent or be ready to retail it urself. If you have a vehicle, you can move around town but avoid major markets.

But agents sell everywhere, why advise him to avoid major markets. So, its minor and small markets that move prices. Very interesting. Your method is anti progressive.

You arent going to sell all at once. Process excellently, store well, and sell gradually. Get regular customers who will buy from you. Your problem is you want heavy cash fast, but you will hit a rock. If you want heavy cash, take a fast one to SW or SE and check prices of plantain bunches. Lagos and some parts of Ogun are your best bet you to make high sales with this weather in Nigeria. Goodluck bro.

I can't laugh Benin market women are notorious in pricing, if you refused their offer, they know how to clear your doubt by sending tax collector from different angle to you. The last time I sold plantain at ipoba hill market, I was counting 34k and I saw people selling dozen for 4k, I saw a man that got annoyed and pack his own back inside vehicle. One thing is to plant plantain in Benin another thing is for you to sell at profit. Don't mind those that will shove their idear down your throat with well packaged insult. They don't know how difficult it is to bring plantain from forest before you get to where motor can take it to town. Adding that to the stress and cost of taking it to Lagos when you don't have trailer size. Processing it is good but you need to seek advise of people that have done it successfully. You will get old in two years and people will start calling you Epah if you don't apply wisdom. When am less busy I will let you know how to beat those heartless glutton hands down. Take it easy bro
