professor i pray make over sabi no kill u , why em spelling of education dey u more important? Na when u come out of nysc u go know waiting life dey talk , my guy when don finish school 5years ago still dey carry block for village.
I think undergraduates should think about their life now that they are still in school , because when you graduate those support your parent give you when you are in school will stop and they will start asking if you are really a graduate of high institution or they wasted their money sending you to school. If you want to start any business now is the time to start saving money from the little money your parent is sending you , because i don't see nigeria getting better anytime soon.

No worry, by the time ASUU takes at least 4 months out of every academic year and you end up spending 7 or even eight years on a 5 year course... plus you graduate and it takes you another one year before you're shortlisted for NYSC.

Then you spend your one year in NYSC and then the main thing begins; JOBHUNTING.

Trust me by then, lots of your friends who opted for tailing, drycleaning, shoemaking, provision store and other "little" businesses would have been settled with their families.

Then (God forbids) you'd still be carrying files upandan looking for a Job. The most annoying and unfortunate thing is; you'd think you're brilliant and would easily land a job, but under your nose, you'd see a 3rd or even q pass graduate picking juicy jobs while you'll be begging to get even the least paying.

See ehn, my dear, its better you go learn a trade o. Some of us have been there before. We know what we are saying.

I graduated with a Comfortable 2nd class upper since 2011. But till date, homeboy still dey street.

The country is damn messed up bro. This is a privileged information you've got here. One from your elder bro. You either run with it and thank me later, or you jettison it and life goes.

Any which way, I wish you All the best!

Yo bro,i'll never neglect my education.
I will still get up to a Masters in Mech.E.
And a B.sc in Economics and maybe in Applied Mathematics as well.Though i'm still in 100lvl doing Mech.E.
My main plan and back-up plan all involves me getting an education so if you like be there and be doing "vocational skill" .we'll see how far that really gets you.
Anyone can learn a vocational skill and still be very educated.
People looking towards skill auquisition as a substitute for True Education are shortsighted.

Bro, Bill Gates and Mark Zuckerberg didn't they quit school and now they are billionaires. Great people that did great things in life were school drop outs. It depends on how you think and how you see yourself. What you need in this world is to learn a skill that will set you apart from your peers and you always be in demand. And lastly make money so that you can help people and help your family too. Having a phD and being broke is rubbish.

Enter street and hustle like an orphan FAM.

Overtime a lot of Nairalanders have been asking for business ideas and i thought to put this down after brainstorming for 20 minutes.

Remember that the goal is to make daily income / passive income #NOSALARYGANG.

As time goes on i'd be sharing other business ventures I'm into, you can start something from here and build it up. You don't need anything fancy, you are in a 3rd world country...always remember that.

So let's get to it.

Keep that money.....refer to number 5, then pay your tithe to me later

1. Pure water business
get a shop with 2 solid dressers, Go to the factory and buy @ the rate of N70. Resell at the rate of 120 - 150 per bag. Supply to schools, churches, individuals...if you sell 200 bags a day, do the math.

2. POS business, (operate in a busy area but close early, e get why). This can be successfully combined with number 1. Contact baxibox.com and surepaddy (providus bank), they will put you through and supply you with the necessary hardware you need for the business... If you are starting out, you necessarily do not need a shop per se...just talk to your local carpenter to construct a small kiosk in a busy environment.

3. Biscuit business (no matter how economy be, people go chop biscuit)

4. Condom business (supply hotels and guest house across the federation)..as religious as we are as a nation we fucc like no mans business, the population keeps SOARING...

5. Local arbitrage (enter eko, look for fast moving products.strike a deal with the seller that you want to be a dropshipper..invest in a good camera phone and apps like lightroom and snapseed, join facebook 'buy and sell groups' facebook has 22M nigerians, just fucking sell something.. create fb / ig / whatsapp business / twitter / nairaland and advertise like your life depends on it).if you want to make 100k daily you need to learn facebook and instagram marketing..LOW RISK

Go here to learn Facebook marketing > trafficmastery ng. Work smart, not hard !

3. Resturant / bar & bushmeat join...during my nysc there's this joint I usually visited to drink mmanya (palmwine) or whatever its called. I spend at least 1k drinking palmy and bushmeat.

4. Foodstuff business (buy from the north, sell in the west)

5. Small chops / akara / yam / potatoes...mama chinedu don build 2 houses, she's on the third one as we speak.

6. Mini importation, this is very tricky due to the forex rate and all the bottlenecks but i will teach you how you can pass this hurdle in my next posts.

7. importation of gadgets / Phone accessories / used items... WhatsApp me for the free guide..

8. Data vending business...goto https://mobilenig.com/?ref=97 get cheap dirt data, pay bills and airtime. This business can be combined with Number 1 & 2...all you need is a mobile phone and internet connection, ATM card (GTB..most preferrable for this jab). Use jBL speakers, just dey play latest gbedu dey go..people will come around to patronize you..
I made over 300k doing this, I still dey do am sha..lol

If you want to take it online...get a good graphics designer to design something like 'BUHARI DATA SERVICES' with data prices and services u render ...lmao..u get my drift sha...then come online and start bombing...facebook...instagram...twitter..nairaland...telegram...

9. Selling of used items on jiji, nairaland, facebook market place and Olist...that your neighbour has items he has not been using for sometime...use style and ask him....take clear pictures in a nice background and upload it, out your price...your phone would start beeping from phone calls

10. DROPSHIPPING (millionaire's paradise)

Please comment and share, thank you.

ALWAYS REMEMBER THAT THE FIGHT IS AGAINST POVERTY.

It is not about what you can do with mechanical engineering. It is about the limits that Nigeria set for mechanical engineering.

There is a university course called biochemistry. This course is all about research and looking for cures for diseases and solutions to illnesses. In Nigeria however the course is limited to the point that biochemistry graduates can only work as teachers and lecturers. They are not even certified to work in laboratories.

The question you should ask yourself is that what can a mechanical engineering graduate do? what job can they get according to Nigerian standards?

To answer these questions, you need to meet with mechanical engineering graduates that have gotten jobs and they will tell you the truth.

Let me point out a certain thing.
I see that everyone here fancies having a skill. That isn't so great.i believe a friend above mentioned something about skills and businesses being "over-saturated".Every body tries to do the same things. And there in an inexhaustible list of those things.
It's not gonna be good that a country with a huge population as ours has an economy that runs on "skills and infant businesses"
It won't take us anywhere.
