Hajia Aasiyat was confirmed to be dead on Sunday at an undisclosed hospital in Ibadan.

The deceased was alleged to be a Step-mother to the General Overseer of Winner’s Chapel, Bishop Oyedepo. Evidences emerging suggest she was an Aunt.



Aasiyat, during her lifetime became known to the public following an infamous declaration by Billionaire Pastor, Bishop Oyedepo. The clergy prophesied that she would die as a miserable poor woman if she refuses to accept Christianity.

Family rejects Muslim Burial

The Muslim ‘Ummah gathered on Monday to give her a befitting Muslim burial.

The children, now Christians are refusing to give her body to the Muslim’ Ummah.



Muslims are gathering at the family house. There are suggestions that there would be Salat al-Gha’ib (burial in absence of the body) if they do not give up the body by 1pm.

Farewell to a Yoruba, Muslim Princess

I will start with a footnote on the billionaire Bishop, David Bello Oyedepo. He was born a Muslim, named Hasan by his father Bello Oyedepo. His mother was a Christian who converted to Islam when she married Bello. Bello had three other wives. After his higher education, Hasan became David. He instantly became a strong, aggressive and successful Christian activist. With his stupendous wealth, he reverted his mother to Christianity; then his father and brothers; then all except his three stepmothers who stuck to their guns and died Muslims. The last of them—Aasiyat— is the subject matter of this piece.

I set out searching for her in late 2013 when I read about how Bishop Oyedepo allegedly prophesized that she will die a miserably poor woman unless she converts to Christianity, like most other members of his family. Muslims on social media were shocked by the Bishop’s utterances.

After reading about her, I set out to meet her in 2013. I visited the headquarters of the Living Faith Church in Iyana Apaja, Lagos. Someone in a nearby mosque told me that the native home of the Oyedepos is in Omuaran, Kwara State. I drove to Ilorin the following morning and arrived Omuaran during Juma’ah congregation. After the prayer, I met the leaders of the mosque, introduced myself and asked about “Bishop Oyedepo’s sister who refused to convert to Christianity.” They became sceptical and started to interrogate me. They even brought a Fulani herder to confirm that I was indeed Fulani.

Finally, I was handed over to one brother, Bello Saad Bamidele, with whom we drove a short distance before arriving at the Oyedepo family house. Behind the front block was a flat in which a woman in her sixties was living. Bello entered and announced our arrival. After she was ready, I was ushered into her parlour. She was shy, full of smiles, but few words. She spoke only Yoruba; so Bello was very handy at the time and on my subsequent visits to her.

I did not want to open fresh wounds especially giving her shy nature; so I avoided asking her about her relationship with David. Instead, we focussed on Islam. I told her that it saddens other Muslims to learn about the pressure on her to convert to Christianity and salute her resolve to remain Muslim. I expressed the solidarity of other Nigerian Muslims with her and recounted the testimony that God gave about her namesake, the wife of Pharaoh, who kept her faith in the face of difficulties and, before God, became a symbol of faith who prayed to Him for a house in Heaven and rescue from Pharaoh and oppression.

Before I left her that afternoon, I asked Aasiyat if she had a request before the Muslim Ummah. She smiled and dropped her head for a while. Finally, when she gathered the courage to open up, she giraffed and whispered into the ear of Bello, who, having heard her request, shouted Allahu akbar! “What did she say,” I enquired, impatiently. He said, “She will love to fulfil her lifetime ambition—a pilgrimage to Mecca.” Look! She did not ask for money. Not a house or anything material. But just a spiritual journey. I told her that it was a modest request and we will pray that God grants it..

Alhamdulillah. He did. By the time the Hajj season commenced in 2014, I got in touch with a great sister, Fatima Afolore Jimoh, the then Secretary of the Pilgrims Board in Ilorin. She assured me of a seat and helped a lot to see that things went well. I linked her up with Bello in Omuaran and all arrangement were completed. The scheme nearly got k-legged when Aasiyat’s sons and other family members discovered she would travel to Mecca. They started agitating against it but we were faster, alhamdulillah. � We quickly ‘abducted’ Aasiyat from Omuaran, shipped her to Ilorin and hid her in a house until her day of departure to the Holy Land. Kudos to Fatima. What a great sister she is!

Aasiyat performed her hajj successfully without any hitch and returned from Mecca a very happy Muslim. She was all smiles when I visited her. She held a ceremony, thanking God for that. The Muslim community of Omuaran continued to support her especially when she fell sick lately. When we spoke last Monday, Saad told me she has recovered from a severe sickness. This morning, he told me that she relapsed and taken to a hospital in Ibadan, where she died last night. The most interesting part was that she was blessed with the Kalimah as her last word. Mashaallah!

And so was the end, here, for her. I salute her resolve to live by her conviction as I saluted the Boko Haram abducted girl—Liya Sharibu—who refused to convert to Islam as demanded by her captors. Aasiyat and the two cowives that died before her chose to remain Muslim. That is the power of conviction. She would have succumbed to the pressure from her two sons—surely the dearest to her heart—both of whom are now pastors, converted to Christianity by Bishop Oyedepo. No. She chose God over man and the Hereafter over the temporary glitters of this world. She died committed to her choice, a symbol of faith and conviction.

Sister Aasiyat Bello Oyedepo, the Princess of Islam, will be buried tomorrow afternoon in her native town of Omuaran. Our sincere condolences go to the Muslim community of Omuaran and Kwara State in general, to all those who anchored her in faith, including Bello and Sister Fatima. Our condolences also to the Oyedepos, including the Bishop David. May he soon revert to Hasan before he leaves the glitters of this world behind. Amin yaa Rabb! � Nothing is beyond Him.

May the Princess of the Faithful, Aasiyat, meet in Heaven the symbols of faith—her namesake and Virgin Mary—where they will together dwell in the gardens and rivers which their Lord promised the righteous:

“Lo! The righteous will dwell among gardens and rivers.
Firmly established in the favour of a Mighty King.” (54:54-55)

I just spoke with the Chairman Omu Aran Muslim community who had been invited by the police Command since morning and who had organised the Muslim community at home to react to all these incidences. This was as a result of an intervention by the writer of the above article who called IG for intervention. The CP Kwara State father meeting with Chair OMC directed that the Area Commander should intervene in the matter.


The Chief Imam of Omu Aran and CAN Chairman Omu Aran met exactly 2hrs 15mins ago. The two sons of the woman who had been converted by Bishop Oyedepo and in whose custody Momo died, refused to bring the corpse. The Muslims insisted they wanted to give Momo Aasiyyat her last respect by burrying her according to Islamic rights. The police law department certified this but the sons refused to bring the corpse. They claimed their mother accepted Jesus last moments to her death.


Momo Assiyat already told people that once the children carried her, she would not likely to stay for another 14 days before she died in their custody which really happened. But another child of the woman who was there when Momo gave up said that Momo was saying " Laila Ila Llah" ...he asked whether what that meant is acceptance of Jesus according to the witness in Yoruba " La Ila Ila Llah ni momo nwi titi won fi dake ...se itumon iyen nii wipe wongba Jesu abi bawo ni?".


They lied but immediately the lies were punctured by their own blood. About two hours ago, The Chief Imam Omu Aran and the Omu Aran Muslim Community performed the type of janazaat prayers for a missing corpse in their family house in respect of momo Assiyat whose corpse the sons refused to release. To the Muslims, the corpse is missing and it can happen. What if there is a plane crash or ship reck or even accident of monumental proportions that does not allow any corpse to be seen.


We remember over 300 passengers of the MH plane some years ago. No corpse till today. So, the Muslims in Omu Aran had been constrained to perform such prayer in the Momo's family house. Alhamdlillah. Bishop Oyedepo by this, has challenged Allah to an open fight. In 2014, he threatened to take Kwara pilgrims Board to court for abducting "his mother ". But now he has instigated the woman direct son to cause the corpse to be "missing" for critical Islamic burial rites.


Let him call all Bishops and Clergies all over the world to come and perform the burial rites in Omu Aran or anywhere. Allah is everywhere. Bishop Oyedepo ti fo Ile agbon o ye ki omon wipe agbon a ta ohun. Bishop Hassan David Oyedepo ti fo Ile oyin o ti mo wipe oyin a ta ohun. Here lies the Pharaoh of Omu Aran and environs challenging the Lord of Moses ...now the Lord of Momo Aasiyyat.......Before now in Omu Aran .....we have instances.


Momo Omoniyepe Bamigboye the mother of Brigadier -General David Lasis Bamigboye and Col. Theophillous Bamigboye two Military Governors of Kwara, Osun and Bauchi States in the past died as Muslim. Momo Raliatu Omoniyepe Bamigboye was Iya Alasalaatul Omu Aran till her death. The two powerful former governors were there on Fidau dates. They had enough influence and power to bury their mother in the Christian ways. They did not do that to Nee Makanjuola.


They allowed the complete Muslim burial. They had the muscles but they did not use it on their mother whether dead or alive. Till today, they are enjoying prominence around the world. But today, Bishop David Hassan Bello Oyedepo has threatened the Muslims and has terrorized them by preventing a Muslim mother of two sons who happened to surrender to the pressure and intimidation of Bishop Oyedepo by converting and being made Pastors of Living Faith, from enjoying her rites at death as Muslim. Thereby challenging Almighty Allah.


We are strengthened by the worlds of Allah in the face of these terrorist acts and intimidation to Ezrat Musa (ASW) where prophet requested Allah to deface all the wealth of Pharaoh the terrorist and all his supporters. Allah did exactly that. Bishop Oyedepo should be on the watch out. He has provoked Allah by his his latest moves. We are bounded by Allah 's instructions. Wallahi except Alquran is not Allah's words, Bishop Oyedepo will get destroyed and all his treasures will be turned into ashes in Sha Allah. As for the sons, in Sha Allah they will still come back to the Omu Aran Muslim community for repentance. Otherwise, Momo will never forgive them.

Allah says to our Nobiy "Stay away from them a little bit, be patient and watch what will happen ....they will also stand apart and watch what happens ......Bishop Hassan David Oyedepo has challenged the creator of the first David. He has challenged the promoter of Assiyat the wife of Pharaoh. Some Muslim elders are selling lands to christians in muslim dominated region (ilorin) and this has been criticized by some muslims as a dangerous move but some muslims said we are in democracy and anyone can buy land from anyone and anywhere. But Mallam Yusuf Adepoju of ACADIP bought huge land in a community of mixed muslims and christians region for a proposed university project. He has obtained necessary legal documents including survey. He has even graded the land and was just about to start the foundation for the proposed acadip university when christians who have waited until last minute filed informal case against the land with community leaders. The case has religious undertone. They simply do not want islamic university which is beneficial for everyone. But these christians built churches and christian universities in muslim dominated regions.

I have told you that top or developed countries are not essentially Christians. They practice adulterated Christianity. They only respect religious rights but in reality they don't give a damn about religion. The real Christian countries that actually carry religion on their head are very poor christian countries.

So all those developed countries, if you ask them about Christian values you will see whole bunch of people among them tell you that their countries were founded on no religion.
