Youths Burn Police Station In Anambra Over Shooting Of Motorcycle Rider by ijustdey: 12:27pm On Dec 16, 2020

Some irate youths have burnt down Igboukwu police station, Aguata local government area of Anambra state, following the shooting of motorcycle rider by police in the area.

Daily Trust gathered that there were some altercations between police operatives and motorcycle riders over some impounded motorcycles as a result of the recent restriction on movement of motorcycles beyond 9:pm in the State.

According to the spokesman for the Anambra state police command, SP Haruna Mohammed, the situation degenerated into a chaos which led to an accidental discharge that hit one motorcycle rider and burning down of Igboukwu police station by irate youth.

Meanwhile he said the state Commissioner for police, CP John Abang has appealed for calm and ordered for detention of police men involved.

According to him, the CP has ordered for full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident and he assured the public that “justice would be done in the case and the outcome of Police investigation shall be made public in due course.”

Wow! Nigerian youths are constantly plunging into the prehistoric lifestyle every minute. Please, let's not support this growing monster out of sentiments. I understand the hurt of losing a loved one but let logic be applied. The dumb policeman who did the shooting should be held accountable. Burning down amenities like this should be discouraged cause it doesn't have any reasonable benefit.

Nigeria police will never change.

Majority of them are very heartless people concerned only about their own pockets. They thrive on other people's misfortunes, and are very happy whenever someone gets into trouble. Such is their lives. Their guns won't discharge accidentally to shoot their family members or other armed fellows like themselves, only unarmed civilians.

I'm very sure most of those bikes were also impounded unjustly. Such is their attitude.

However, the youths should be wiser next time. Do not destroy your own security assets because of your current grievances. If the police has wronged you, you have very powerful alternative means of seeking redress.

No one is directly supporting the burning of the police station, however, the CP made the order at the aftermath.

What's the value of a police station compared to Human Life, We must learn to value lives more in Nigeria.
