I'm not sure, is there Lime Plaster in Nigeria? Lime plaster will give a better workability and finish than OPC. Lime plaster is breathable so no fear of cracking when dried.
We can do lime plaster but it's not as solid other forms of plaster. A little bit P.V.A binder could be added to give it strength. It would give a very smooth and breathable finish though.

HI,

i kinda like the 1st picture though. if you infuse your 3 roof to floor window slits on the bland façade. it is good to go!

spyder880:
Guys, please help my client select the best look to his new house,

1st picture: The 3d rendition from the original architect (we didn't like the look)

2nd picture: A picture my client picked and loves for me to use it to replace the first picture.

3rd picture: The new design I worked out with my architect (Phildecasa) so we can use it to replace 1 and 2.

The question now is which of the views should we use, which do you think looks better for this house we are just starting to build?

Thanks for your comments.

Good to know. We use lime plaster intensively here with fantastic outcome. In some historical buildings, Building Control will stipulate the use of lime plaster only or the building will not pass so can't be insured and no mortgage approval.

Yeah, buying good ones is the way. We can save money somewhere else.

It’s like how well never consider making blocks in the abroad but we’ll shop for best price on faucets till kingdom come.

Rightly so sir. Lime plaster basically turn the whole plaster to marble when set and that's what some old historical structures would be made of.

Good day House, please we just discovered that my already installed bathroom door should swing outwardly instead of inward cos of space, and the installer said to change the direction the door swings to, the door frames needs to be repositioned which will cause a lot of damages (including the wall tiles).
Please is there any possibility that this changes could be made (changing the direction the door swings to) without damaging much so as to avert much expenses.

There was a poster who was looking for a solution for doors opening inward instead of outward, hoping to change the direction of hinges without breaking the frames; this might be the creative solution in that situation. DIY gone awry.

You are right. Plaster will make for better workability. But quick set cement is also commonly used for jointing.

Using fiberglass mesh provides a form of reinforcement to guard against cracks. Also paper tapes hides any cracks that may occur.

my brother house is in that estate as well. You can get good blocks from the man selling at the entrance of the first gate. You can tip him to make stronger blocks for you. Good luck on your project
Do you need to tip/bribe someone to get him produce quality product?

Would you dress your concrete cast fascia with plastering before roofing commences to avoid interference or just do a complete roofing and then a complete plastering of the entire building when set?
Am getting conflicting opinions from my caretaker, architect and site engineer.

Is better you complete roofing before plastering the concrete fascia because if it is vice versa the plastering will be defaced.

ofcus it's a NO in a "sane" country. But here in Nigeria? this is your house, so tipping them for special treatment isn't bad

Nigerian ingenuity, these guys are now converting 1924 Mercedes trucks to tippers. They do this by building a bigger bucket for the truck locally, then fitting the trucks with tipping mechanism after upgrading the engine functions. They do all these locally. The trucks are now popular and supplies sand and stones to many locations in the Eastern parts of Nigeria. I hired this one to supply me sharp sand in our Awka site.

@ Chekitaut, do you think this is up to 20 tons?
My Oga sorry 4 late response,. A very good 20tons truck you hv there. Sand of this load is more than 20tons on scale.
