Sociologist James A. Beckford, in his 1975 study of Jehovah's Witnesses, classified the group's organizational structure as Totalizing, characterized by an assertive leadership, specific and narrow objectives, control over competing demands on members' time and energy, and control over the quality of new members.

Other characteristics of the classification include likelihood of friction with secular authorities, reluctance to co-operate with other religious organizations, a high rate of membership turnover, a low rate of doctrinal change, and strict uniformity of beliefs among members. Beckford identified the group's chief characteristics as historicism (identifying historical events as relating to the outworking of God's purpose), absolutism (conviction that Jehovah's Witness leaders dispense absolute truth), activism (capacity to motivate members to perform missionary tasks), rationalism (conviction that Witness doctrines have a rational basis devoid of mystery), authoritarianism (rigid presentation of regulations without the opportunity for criticism) and world indifference (rejection of certain secular requirements and medical treatments).

Sociologist Bryan R. Wilson, in his consideration of five religious groups including Jehovah's Witnesses, noted that each of the denominations:

"exists in a state of tension with the wider society;"
"imposes tests of merit on would-be members;"
"exercises stern discipline, regulating the declared beliefs and the life habits of members and prescribing and operating sanctions for those who deviate, including the possibility of expulsion;"
"demands sustained and total commitment from its members, and the subordination, and perhaps even the exclusion of all other interests."

A sociological comparative study by the Pew Research Center found that Jehovah's Witnesses in the United States ranked highest in statistics for getting no further than high school graduation, belief in God, importance of religion in one's life, frequency of religious attendance, frequency of prayers, frequency of Bible reading outside of religious services, belief their prayers are answered, belief that their religion can only be interpreted one way, belief that theirs is the only one true faith leading to eternal life, opposition to abortion, and opposition to homosexuality. In the study, Jehovah's Witnesses ranked lowest in statistics for having an interest in politics. It was also among the most racially and ethnically diverse religious groups in the US.

Please in all sincerity i suggest this group should be banned globally for the world to continue as it is now, we don't really need such mind controlling group, at least people should continue to hate people due to racism and politics, so that manufacturers of weapons can continue their godly business!

One of my JW brothers in the U.S. was questioned why Witnesses do not participate in politics, since perhaps we are very honest people(Hebrews 13:18). His reply was:
“Why should we? We have solved the problems that are tearing your world apart—prejudice, for example. Why should we trade in the gold for the mud? ”

Surely you're jealous or envious of this group because 99% of your post is about them!

Unless you have proof and evidence, I highly doubt it. I don't think you have been observing what is happening. The only the governing body and it's representative are demanding for more loyalty, trust and avoiding the Internet is because more and more questions are being asked. In fact, if anything, the recent trajectory of the organisation towards a more hard-line approach is because they are faced with a storm they cannot simply ignore away.

On Saturday, I was discussing with a Jw elder who is no longer interested in the post anymore. In fact, he told me it's only a matter of time before he stops. The last 2 weeks, I have been contacted by 2 JWs are PIMO. That's people I know. But when you consider what is coming from the organisation recently, it's definitely a pointed that something are not quite the way it used to be.

Go figure...


And by the way, the guy you quoted is a Jw.
