Then print the MyBankStatement for BTW the date u submitted ur application and a year b4. For example if u submitted ur application on 1st October 2020; let the MyBankStatement cover 1st Oct 2019 to 1st Oct ,2020
However, u should generate the statement from ur internet banking App first and be sure the inflow for the one year is consistent with final balance.
If this isn't ok by you, just mail them to continue normal processing and wait

What this has shown is that it's not enough to have large amount of money in your bank statement, sources of the fund is essential. The GCMS suggest that you did not add enough documents to show source of the funds( yours and that of ur uncle)
You may need your uncle to provide his employment documents or his business documents.

Hi all,

I finally got my enrollment verification/attestation letter from Concordia University student portal last night with the good help of a dear member of this group @Siobhanle. Thanks once again for the help.

@Blavkmaann and other prospective Concordians, the hack for self-generating the letter is actually simple. I didn't find the feature on my student portal when accessed the website on my computer. Using the mobile App didn't help either. I was on this for several days thinking something was wrong with my profile setting. It was during a chat with @Siobhanle last night that she figured what I was doing wrong all these while.

Apparently, the only way to get the letter yourself was if you accessed the website via mobile web (on the phone) not the mobile app. That solved the problem. In case you ever find yourself in my situation in future after enrollment, then that is your hack.

BTW, safe trips to all members who traveling today and over the weekend. See you when we get there soon.

It will continue to end in endless praises!

I am applying to the university of Manitoba for a Bsc program.
My question is:
I am a Bsc holder and I have been advised to apply for a Bsc as that is an easier route. So I have to state I haven’t done a Bsc in my application, is that a wise decision?
My next question would be dependent on the response I get from this first question.

It depends on when you are applying and when you get PPR (passport request after approval). You can apply for passport renewal 6-months before expiry (i.e. earliest June 2021). You must submit a passport that is at least 6-months valid at the time of passport request. And you must have a passport that is at least 6-months valid at the time of traveling. It is for you to do the Maths and take the best route.

But if you ask me, I would say submit your application as early as possible maybe by February/March/April. Start the process of passport renewal by June and be mindful that you may not get it for several weeks depending on on your plug at the passport office you applied from. When you get a new passport (whether after or before a decision is made), raise a web form and attach a copy of the new passport.

Not yet but I am enrolled and there is a bill of fees due for the winter on my portal. However, the system says the amount is only due for payment in future and not right now. I guess this is because I am a fully funded PhD student so they are not worried about payment. Below is what my Graduate Program Assistant said when I asked:

"So, for the fees, there is nothing to pay now. both your fee remission and your award will only appear in your account at the end of January, after the date for changing status has passed. They don't release any money until after this date, as they don't want students to receive money and then withdraw from their studies, so this rule was implemented across the board. In the meantime, your fees do not become due until several weeks after this date, so there is nothing to worry about right now."

I suspect it will be different for self-funded students.

Hi Jessica,

In my own opinion, this is not a good decision.

There is something called CAREER PROGRESSION, according to your post, there is no career progression.

1) You going for another B.SC could raise a red flag, cos a Visa Officer (VO) won't see any progression in that.

2) If u lie that u haven't done a B.SC before, your age (DOB) would clearly show that you are hiding something, cos u won't be able to address the age gap of the period u were doing your B.SC. So avoid complicating things for yourself and be 100%/truthful

- This is what i feel u should do,

As a B.SC holder, you are to go for an higher program e.g Masters (if u av a minimum of 2.1), PG. Cert - Post Graduate Certificate (if u av a 2.2 / 3rd Class)

And the program u must go for must either align with ur B.SC degree or your Work Experience

I’m not a Visa Officer o, but I don’t think your statement of acct should be in ur SOP, SOP IS YOUR TRYING TO CONVINCE THE OFFICER THAT AFTER UR STUDY YOU WILL COME BACK, it’s to show ur academic research and goals, it’s to make the person have a mental picture of you by reading

I feel ur money shouldn’t be there!


Adjust that..... what I feel souls be there is “if ur sponsor is not ur dad or mum” explain the relationship and make it convincing that the person or company won’t sly you!

Ur money is okay!

Travel history - in not sure you can “plan to travel now” just write in a very convincing way that if you go you’ll come back!

E.G, I’m a journalist, going to study journalism, I highlighted how pained I am about the Nigerian system, How I have contributed my small quota to the journalism sector in Nigeria, and how I’m STill contributing, I explained how Nigeria is my first Nationality and no matter where I go, I’ll still keep telling African stories

Sorry to hear about your refusal. From your notes, I can see two major problems

1. The additional support of the uncle comes with no support for his income and obligations and it appears any support provided by him will be a major hit to his savings

2. The family income and savings are low and appear to fully exhausted to meet the first year of tuition


For point number 1
What documents did you submit? From this notes, you might not have adequately shown your sponsor’s source of income. Did you submit payslips? Letter of introduction from employer? Business documents, tax clearance certificate of your sponsor?

You need to adequately show your sponsor’s source of income. Also they talked about his obligations, he needs to state his dependents (children) and show that the money he has can take care of them and you as well with proof. They expect an elderly person to also have his own family responsibilities.
I’ll advice your sponsor to increase his bank balance It is quite low

Your sponsor can show commitment to the cause by paying your tuition and also transferring some money to you (for example the 10k cad living expense) and this should be stated in your application

As for point number 2
Paying full or part tuition will help a lot (please confirm the refund policy of the institution before paying)
Another alternative is looking for a school with less tuition

I noticed you have some fixed deposit, it is advisable to break it and transfer it to your account, attach the certificate and proof of transfer to show the source of the money. Available cash is preferred to fixed deposit.

For travel history, if you work on all the above, you can write in your SOP that you have had no reason to travel previously until now and that should not be used against you.

My advice is that you go to the Abuja office and renew your passport there. Normally you can only renew your passport when it has less than 6 months validity at any immigration office. However, you can also extend it no matter irrespective of the expiry date but that can only be done at the Abuja office. I was in a similar situation and I even renewed my passport that was meant to expire in Oct 2022 just this last September. But you will be required to write a letter and explain why you are requesting for a new passport with a valid passport not less than 6 months. I had to attach my Letter of acceptance from my institution and stated that the passport would not cover the duration of my study in Canada.

If you have the money, I will advise that you get another passport.
So you won't have to worry about delays in your application and all.
But if you don't have the cash, well you can proceed with your application.
Since your permit is most likely to come out before the passport expires.
The bolded is my top recommendation though.

I used IELTSLIZ for speaking and things to avoid, E2 IELTS for grammar, Ielts-up online for both writing tasks, Target ielts for reading and I used ieltsonline website for listening. All this was possible with 5k data on Airtel and YouTube. All these pages are on YouTube except that website. Watch a lot of videos and practice typing on your laptop (I took the CBT) if doing computer based. I only practiced for four days (serious practicing ohh. I always read all morning and afternoon, rest and continue reading from 9 pm till 6 am in the morning. At some point I gave up and stopped reading cuz I was having headaches. But preparing like this on a short notice would pay off.

Hello Jjessicachizoba,

Don’t start your application on a bad note. If they find out you lied, you’re looking at a 5 year ban.

Also note that if you decide to conceal your Bsc and apply for another Bsc you have to explain what you have been doing since you finished secondary school with proof! You said you have a 2.1, you have a great shot at a Master’s. And PR (permanent residence) after the master’s. Take your time and read this thread from the beginning, it has everything you need for a successful master’s and even visa application. And if you have any questions, feel free to ask on the group. The “Easy way” is not always the best way. Be wary of agents, not all of them know what they’re doing.

Well I mean no disrespect, but an agent telling you not to mention your B.SC degree is very wrong. If you are giving false information to get a Visa, & it is detected, you can be banned, and such sanction can be extended to other Countries Canada share information with in terms if Immigration and if u wanna go to those other countries, there might be problem.

Be very sure & certain he/she is a Licensed Canada Immigration Agent before you carry on totally with him/her, so u don't waste your time and resources, cos there are lotz of Agents out there who are just bent on duping people of their hard earn money

We are in Xmas Season, any body fit claim agent, cos boyz wanna cash out (that's on a lighter not anyway smiley )

With your 2.1 u are not to go for another B.SC (Second First Degree as mentioned).

 U are to go for a Second Degree which is higher.

To get a Second degree (Masters or PG. Cert), it is highly mandatory of you to apply with your Transcript & Certificate of Highest (B.SC), cos that's what the Admission committee of any skool would dwell on to make a decision whether they gonna give you an admission or not.

Since u av a 2.1, u are good to go for an M.SC

B.SC is mostly for the age range 17-22, u might find it difficult convincing a Visa Officer why you are going for another B.SC.

I was in this situation earlier this year. My old passport was to expire by Sept 2021, and my studies is to start this January. What did I do? I had to apply for the study permit with the old passport and then go to immigration headquarters Abuja to renew my passport. It too one month for the new passport to be issued.

Note that for a passport that has more than 6 months validity, the renewal can only be done in Abuja. And you must present a very valid reason for wanting to get a new passport. In my own case, I had to submit my National ID card, my old passport, my admission letter, with another letter explaining that I need a passport that has validity that exceeds my study period (4 years) in order to be issued up to five years of study visa. After submitting these things to my contact in the Abuja office, I was granted approval to come for capturing after two weeks. A week later, I received my passport via courier in Enugu. The cost was 40k.

If you don't want to go to Abuja JUST for a passport, then you can report it as a missing passport in one of the state immigration offices. But in this case, you'll have to obtain a police report, wait for few weeks for approval for a new passport, and then go for capturing at the state office. The bottom line: it will cost far too much to renew it in a state office (the police report alone is around 15k, I was told), and it will take longer, plus your new passport will still be of the old Nigerian passport format (only the national immigration headquarters issues the new/updated passport format, I was informed).

After obtaining the new passport, I had to send the data page via webform to IRCC which they acknowledged and added to my file.
