Why Did The High Priest Think Jesus Blasphemed? by vybzkartel: 2:26pm On Dec 18, 2020
Mark 14:61-64

[61]But He kept silent and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked Him, saying to Him, “Are You the Christ, the Son of the Blessed?”

[62]Jesus said, “I am. And you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Power, and coming with the clouds of heaven.

[63]Then the high priest tore his clothes and said, “What further need do we have of witnesses?
[64]You have heard the blasphemy! What do you think?” And they all condemned Him to be deserving of death.

Why did the High Priest consider Jesus' statement to be blasphemy?

Thank

Because The Lord who was looking like man said He is The Lord by the Translation of that Statement, which He has said before, which they wanted to kill Him then, but it was not the Time.

For like sonmavayina, they can not expect nor Imagine that Great God would come so simply, quietly, and lowly as they think, All Great Persons Show their Greatness in Great ways eg like Dangote, Buhari and co going to an event with Danfo, would be unheard of.

They Imagine that there must be Escorts of Angels, Trumpets, Thunders and Lightenings Replica of governors', presidents entourage.

But The Lord did not do so, so you can see the difficulty to believe Him.

Moses foretold that a prophet like himself will be sent to the nation of Israel and they must listen to whatever he tells them! Deuteronomy 18:15-18 compared to Act 3:22

David referred to this promised Messiah as "Lord" saying "JEHOVAH said to my Lord, 'sit at my right hand' until i make your enemies a stool for your feet" Psalms 110:1 compared to Act 2:34-36

Isaiah said this prophet will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father and Prince of Peace" Isaiah 9:6

Daniel said this Prophet "will destroy all the governments of the earth and establish his own" Daniel 2:44

Malachi said before this prophet (who will represent the most high) comes Elijah will be sent to clear the way for him" Malachi 4:5-6

John (Israelites last prophet) said the one coming behind me is greater than i, he existed before me {John 1:30} his sandals i'm unfit to loose! Matthew 3:11

With all these the Sanhendrin (Jewish high court comprising of Pharisees and Sadducees amongst whom the Roman government often select the one who will serve as the Highpriest) have heard so much from their disciples who often go to listen whenever Jesus is preaching publicly. So they're expecting Jesus to do all that the prophets have foretold about the Messiah (Christ) because they all knew that the Christ is the only begotten SON of God. Since Jesus never fulfilled a quarter of those prophecies yet claiming he is the Christ they concluded he is just an impostor who has been deceiving the masses! Matthew 27:63

That's why the Highpriest torn his garment in a showy display as if Jesus has done something deserving death. But before Jesus, two Jewish zealots have risen claiming they're the Christ, though they were both captured and executed by the Roman government for disrupting the peace in Judea! Act 5:36-37 compared to John 10:8

May you have PEACE! smiley

What is blasphemy?
Re: Why Did The High Priest Think Jesus Blasphemed? by Jones4190(m): 4:39pm On Dec 18, 2020
let us consider what prompted our lord to have answers the question at first, Why our Lord should have answered this question, when He was silent as to the former, we might not have quite seen, but for Matthew, who says (Matthew 26:63) that the high priest put Him upon solemn oath, saying, “I adjure Thee by the living God, that Thou tell us whether Thou be the Christ, the Son of God.” Such an adjuration was understood to render an answer legally necessary (Leviticus 5:1)
Art thou the Christ, the Son of the Blessed? Seeing that Jesus was not to be lured into an answer, and well knowing his perfect frankness, Caiaphas resolved, in his desperation, to question Jesus plainly and bluntly. His question is twofold: (1) Art thou Christ? (2) Art thou the Son of God? The latter of these would constitute blasphemy, and the former, by showing a boastful spirit would tend to confirm the charge. Perhaps, too, Caiaphas anticipated the future, and foresaw how useful this claim to be Messiah would prove when a hearing was had before Pilate (Luke 23:2). Originally the Messiah was recognized as the Son of God (Psalms 2:7), but if the Jews had ever generally entertained such an idea, they had lost it before Jesus' day, The Messiah might of course be called the Son of God in that secondary sense in which Adam was thus called (John 1:49; Luke 3:38). But Jesus had used the term in an entirely different sense, and his usage had been extremely offensive to the Jews (Matthew 22:41-46; John 5:17,18; John 10:30-39). Caiaphas evidently wished Jesus to answer this question in that new sense which the Lord had given to the words. Caiaphas had no legal right to ask either of these questions. No man can be compelled to testify against himself, but he knew the claims of Jesus, and realized that if Jesus repudiated them he would be shamed forever, and if he asserted them he could be charged with blasphemy. Taking advantage, therefore, of the situation, Caiaphas put the question with the usual formula of an oath, thus adding moral power to it, for, under ordinary circumstances, one was held guilty if he refused to answer when thus adjured (Leviticus 5:1). When their own witnesses failed, these rulers called the "faithful witness" (1 Timothy 6:13; Revelation 1:5).

Claiming he is the Messiah when he's not fulfilling the role as the Jews expected.
For instance they're expecting the Messiah to free their nation from Romans at least like Moses did in Egypt! Deuteronomy 18:15-18

But Jesus was just preaching and teaching in all their territories, he even performed miracles for Romans! Matthew 8:5-10

So they hated him with passion! smiley

Oga read the verse 35 and 36 before you conclude.
Jesus was well aware that world would neither welcome nor approve of his message of the Kingdom which he preached and by extension, since the world hated and persecuted him, his own disciples who are going from house to house to preach about God's Kingdom will also be hated and persecuted by their family members and others. Matthew 10:11-13,22;Acts 5:42

Matthew 10:35-36 has already answered the question for you.
A man's[believer's] enemies will be those of his household all because he's chosen to become a disciple of Jesus Christ. Micah 7:6
So it's the unbelieving family members who will want to cause trouble and chaos for the one who is a follower of Jesus who by reason of being a true Christian is peaceable with all sorts of men. Romans 12:18, 1Peter 3:11

You have the answer there already. He answered the high priest's question in the affirmative.

High priest questioned: "Are you the Son of the Blessed One."

The Messiah replied: " I am."

Yahushua the Messiah shuddered them even a little further when he added: "And you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of heaven.”

Yahushua the Messiah spoke the truth to them, but they didn't accept it and instead called it blasphemy because they were not his sheep.

What makes you think such things did not happen? He had and still has authority over all that you mentioned above. However, even if they, the high priest and the other were made to recognize such about him, don't think it would had made any difference to them.

John 15:24 If I had not done among them the works no one else did, they would not be guilty of sin. As it is, they have seen, and yet they have hated both me and my Father. 25 But this is to fulfill what is written in their Law: ‘They hated me without reason.’

Genealogical Qualifications to Be Messiah Scripture
Messiah will be of the tribe of Judah

Tribal lineage goes through the human biological fathers
Num 1:18 "And they assembled all the congregation together on the first day of the second month, and they declared their pedigrees after their families, by their fathers' houses, according to the number of names, from twenty years old and upward, by their polls."

The kingly line only goes through the sperm of the human biological father not the mother.
2 Sam 7:12-16 "When thy(David) days are fulfilled, and thou shalt sleep with thy fathers, I will set up thy seed ZERA after thee, that shall proceed out of thy body [SPERM], and I will establish his kingdom. He shall build a house for My name, and I will establish the throne of his kingdom FOR EVER."
14 I will be to him for a father, and he shall be to Me for a son; if he commit iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men, and with the stripes of the children of men;
15 but My lovingkindness shall not depart from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I put away before thee.
16 And thy house and thy kingdom shall be made sure for ever before thee; thy throne shall be established for ever.'
>>Seed that proceeds out of a man's body is Sperm.

Kingly line only goes through the sons never the daughters.

14 but I will settle him in My house and in My kingdom for ever; and his throne shall be established for ever.'"

Kingly line through Solomon Forever
1 Chron 22:9-10 "Behold, a son shall be born to thee, who shall be a man of rest; and I will give him rest from all his enemies round about; for his name shall be Solomon, and I will give peace and quietness unto Israel in his days.
10 He shall build a house for My name; and he shall be to Me for a son, and I will be to him for a father; and I will establish the throne of his kingdom over Israel for ever."

1 Chron 28:4-7 "Howbeit YHWH, Elohim of Israel, chose me out of all the house of my father to be king over Israel for ever; for He hath chosen Judah to be prince, and in the house of Judah, the house of my father, and among the sons of my father He took pleasure in me to make me king over all Israel;
5 and of all my sons--for YHWH hath given me many sons--He hath chosen Solomon my son to sit upon the throne of the kingdom of YHWH over Israel.
6 And He said unto me: Solomon thy son, he shall build My house and My courts; for I have chosen him to be to Me for a son, and I will be to him for a father.
7 And I will establish his kingdom for ever, if he will strengthen himself to perform My commandments and Mine ordinances, as at this day."

Kingly line only through the sons Forever
2Ch 13:5 "Ought ye not to know that YHWH Elohim of Israel gave the kingdom over Israel to David for ever, to him and to his sons by a covenant of salt?"

Jer 23:5 "Behold, the days come, saith YHWH, that I will raise unto David a righteous shoot, and he shall reign as king and prosper, and shall execute justice and righteousness in the land.
6 In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely; and this is his name whereby he shall be called, YHWH is our righteousness."

Jer 33:15 "In those days, and at that time, will I cause a shoot of righteousness to grow up unto David; and he shall execute justice and righteousness in the land
16 In those days shall Judah be saved, and Jerusalem shall dwell safely; and this is the name whereby he shall call it YHWH is our righteousness.
17 For thus saith YHWH: There shall not be cut off unto David a man to sit upon the throne of the house of Israel;
18 neither shall there be cut off unto the priests the Levites a man before Me to offer burnt-offerings, and to burn meal-offerings, and to do sacrifice continually."

"My covenant will I not profane, nor alter that which is gone out of My lips. Once have I sworn by My kodesh: Surely I will not be false unto David; his seed ZERA shall endure for ever, and his throne as the sun before Me. It shall be established for ever as the moon; and be stedfast as the witness in sky.' Selah" Psa 89:35-38

No King Can Come From Jeconiah's Line (also called Coniah/Jehoiakim)
Jer 22:28 "Is this man Coniah a despised, broken image? Is he a vessel wherein is no pleasure? Wherefore are they cast out, he and his seed, and are cast into the land which they know not?
29 O land, land, land, hear the word of YHWH.
30 Thus saith YHWH: Write ye this man childless, a man that shall not prosper in his days; for no man of his seed shall prosper, sitting upon the throne of David, and ruling any more in Judah."

Jer 36:30 "Therefore thus saith YHWH concerning Jehoiakim(Coniah) king of Judah: He shall have none to sit upon the throne of David; and his dead body shall be cast out in the day to the heat, and in the night to the frost."

Messiah must be a direct descendant from David and Solomon through his human biological father. J-s didn't qualify, he had a virgin birth. Even if he didn't have a virgin birth, the genealogy in Matthew 1 goes through Jeconiah, whose line was disqualified from kingship as part of Elohim's curse (Jeremiah 22:30,36:30) and in Luke 3 the genealogy doesn't go through Solomon as required but his brother Nathan (II Samuel 7:12-14, I Chronicles 17:11-14, 22:9-10, 28:4-6). J-s is most definitely not the Jewish Messiah.

Every Christian needs to read this. This is the main reason the Jews do not accept Jesus as The Messiah. The Jews believe that the Messiah will only come once and there will be permanent peace on earth . So there may still be another Messiah coming.

Wait let me get you straight. The Messiah should come and force everybody to make peace abi? Because if it's by force, then it's no more different from the UN who can go to lengths of wars and conflicts in the name of establishing “peace”.

Jesus Christ made it clear that all those who willingly embrace his teachings will never take up weapons of war to resolve conflicts and that they would be peaceful with their neighbours. Matthew 26:52, Luke 6:29

So stop deceiving yourself, it was the Jews and other stiff-necked people who chose not to follow the real Messiah's teachings so that peace can be achieved amongst them. The fault was not from Jesus but from the Jews and neither will he force anybody to follow after him. Matthew 16:24, Mark 6:1-4

You're waiting for another Messiah to come shey? Okay but just know that the next encounter the Messiah concerning this earth will be bloody between him and the present earth's inhabitants who do not obey God and the good news about Jesus Christ himself. 2Thessalonians 1:6-10, Revelation 16:14-16, 19:11-21
Then after that, God's Kingdom will be firmly established on the earth and true PEACE & SECURITY can now reign amongst the earth's inhabitants who have sought Jehovah God, righteousness and meekness. Psalm 37:11,29; Isaiah 9:7, Zephaniah 2:2-3, Matthew 5:5, 2Peter 3:13, Revelation 21:1-4
Until then, everybody has a choice to make.

Isn't this what will happen at the end of the age?

About the others, which one did not come to pass during the Messiah's life on Earth?

He meant his teachings will cause division as those who embrace it will stand out and the unbelievers will hate them with passion. But for you to be sure that Jesus is truly the PRINCE of PEACE {Isaiah 9:6} try to meditate on his orders to his followers! Matthew 5:43-48, 26:52; Luke 9:51-56 smiley

But Jesus said: Matthew 10:34 “Don’t imagine that I came to bring peace to the earth! I came not to bring peace".

Thank

It is because he literally, was a "Far-i-see" aka "Far-to-see" Pharisee
