My brother go back into history. The issue caused a problem in Warri province back then. It was Olu of itsekhiri.

When Awo made it Olu of Warri, Urhobo and other tribes protested. Because what is now Delta was Warri Province of Western Region. Urhobo and others felt it implied that Olu was now ruler of all Warri province (virtually all of Delta today).
The settlement was made thus : The name was changed to Delta Province instead.

Benin province and Delta province became Midwest Region in 1963. Later became Bendel taking first three letters each from Benin and Delta.

Please don't just attack people until you have the facts from history. Though the guy did not correctly explain his points but he was partly right. The Olu is generally monarch over Warri area. Increase of Urhobo population does not change that.

In any case the Urhobos granted passage and even escorted Prince Ginuwa on his way from Benin to Ode itsekhiri, welcoming his coming from ancestral home of the Urhobo people in Benin back then. There was still close kinship then.

grin see this coco pops generation calling me indomie generation....

Read the post you just quoted again and hide your face in shame...... aren't we both saying same thing?? So what's the point of quoting me? I said and ijaw or orhobo man cannot be king in itsekiri land.. you say an igbo or yoruba man cannot be emir of kano.. so what's the point of quoting me..

nairaland really dey give so many ignorant fools voice... you read without comprehension and rush to comment as if you're been paid to do so... oga take your frustration to your papa house.. I dont have time for stupid people this morning.. stupidity is highly contagious and more deadly than Covid 19

You have not said anything. You are only trying to hide your glistening shame. If you even had an iota of the culture, you would not even make the assertions you are making (that Ijaws and Urhobo should push for the stool). Something an Urhobo or Ijaw man cant even say.

From your words, i doubt you have been to warri before, let alone know the xulture. You just read stories from your primary school book and opened your mouth before thinking.

If any old and influential man dies, they'll pronounce covid_19 as the cause

after all the dead don't speak else he'll surely tell the truth

R.I.P to the deceased and God bless him with paradise if he was actually an honest ruler

Why is his name sounding somehow: Ikenwoli. Anyways the next king should come from Ijaw. Itsekhiri can't have it all the time. Ijaw should strongly consider pushing for the stool.

Ogbe ijaw is an area lease to ijaw by ogbe, an itsekiri man from ugbwuague. The market master of ogbe ijaw is an itsekiri, that whole area from ogbe ijaw down to milla water side is under the lordship of the olu of warri.

U have no idea what u are saying, even an Urhobo or ijaw man will not go for that throne, the throne is not a political position. There's are few family allowed on that throne, not all itsekiri can even be on that throne.

He is the Olu of Itsekiri. Apparently Warri expanded & engulfed the domain of several other tribes namely the creek-dwelling Ijaws, the Urhobos, etc, and those other tribes have their own traditional administrators who do not concede primacy to the Olu.

The title was changed as a political gimmick by Obafemi Awolowo during the sixties

A radio station in warri just debunked this news now the presenter went to the palace to confirm this news and was told by the palace chiefs that the olu is in intensive care and not dead yet that qualified doctors are attending to him.

What about the following kingship titles: "Attah of Igala", "Etsu of Nupe", "Tor Tiv", "Ochi Idoma". Are Igala, Nupe, Tiv, Idoma also names of towns or names of tribes?

That's as far as he can go. He can never be king, u can't buy royalty, u have to come from the family, the best u can do with ur money is to buy chieftaincy title.

Never in history has the Itsekiri's attached to Igbo or Eastern Nigeria, during the 1960's they were in Mid-western Nigeria alongside their sister tribes and during the 1967 war, they never partook until the Midwest invasion when they rallied to gain control of their seized territory.

Their language is a hybrid of Edo-Urhobo-Yoruba, so the OP's claim that the Olu is somehow related to Igbo is wrong, infact for you to be crowned OLU of Itsekiri, your mother must be either Itsekiri, Edo or Yoruba.

This news about his dismiss hasn't been confirmed yet but if this happens to be true, may his soul rest in peace.
I thought it was only bini and itsekiri, now you are adding yoruba, please enlighten me the more?
