Oktane:yh bro, business requires serious calculation. Also I sell d drinks in retail i.e pieces per one, d drinks store is just by my grocery store, so wen I buy a pack at #875 (500packs) I don't sell everytin at wholesale price, cos I put some in d fridge n sell at #100 retail price wic equals #1200 per pack, n I cud sell btw 30 to 50 packs @ retail price per month. Everytin add together wic increase profit. |

ikmontana:I am really impressed by your doggedness and how committed you are to getting things done properly despite how bleak the future may appear. I encourage you because I am usually endeared to people who decide to take the creation of their future into their hands by starting out somewhere with whatever they have. There is a young chap I met somewhere at Afariogun Street in Ikeja. This guy is doing well seriously. He started out with a chemist store after NYSC. Now the store is the go to cornerstone in that neighbourhood. He sells other stuff heavily as well as attending to people who seek above the counter drugs. I know another male dominated family in Opebi Village where all the boys are graduates and are working in the family convenience store business. All four of them. Educated guys too. I was shocked when I met one of them at the airport during one of my foreign trips. He was going to Germany for a few weeks to buy used wares for sale. Now the last born is in the USA studying pharmacology. They have three mom & pop shops in that neighbourhood which is incidentally very densely populated. And they are the preferred retailer shops in that place even with the proliferation of other shops. Aha! They also own a very thriving bar in that place. The place is always thronged every evening. If you have any doubts just visit the neighbourhood (via Salvation Road, Opebi). |

The topic of this thread interests me a lot. But I would prefer that those posting should emphasize how they overcame the natural start out fear, inertia and the despair that comes with the first few years of realising that the actual results are far from expectations. It would also be nice to hear how they kept their eyes on the goal despite all odds. |

Paxxcarl:Cool. Like I mentioned it's tricky, depending on how you want to proceed - go all in or go on tip toes. Let me illustrate with what we do. My team has two business segments, among others. There is the transport and haulage, that is highly volatile and capital intensive, but highly rewarding. Then we have the foodstuff business, where we buy where it is cheap and resell in other areas for profit. For this segment, we brought together several investors, so that their investments will be in small units and they can spread the sum of money to be invested over several businesses. This way, the liability of each person is minimized. Also, the aggregation of little profits from several small business units sums up big. You catch my drift? |

Nice thread. I would advice up and coming business starter to first do feasibility study of their market. Be sure to have the startving crowd in your location. In all my life I have been earning online as a freelancer. And still earning. But I don't usually go out that much. This gave people the idea that, maybe I'm into yahoo. In 2021, I want go offline to start a business or a shop too (FMCG) preferably. Nice thread though |
