The problem with you and your likes is ignorance, lack of exposure, unnecessary envy and primitive clannishness. Owerri has always been ahead of Orlu and Okigwe even before states were created.

For those that have been saying nonsense on how higher institutions is causing prostitution in Owerri, A BIG LIE THAT HAS BEEN STATED OVER AND OVER. Now, look at the number of higher institutions in Enugu l compiled below:

1. Enugu State college of education.
2. Caritas University.
3. Institute of Management Technology IMT.
4. University of Nigeria Enugu Campus UNEC.
5. Osisatech Polytechnic.
6. Madonna University Enugu Campus.
7. Godfrey Okoye University.
8. ESUT College of Medicine.
9. ATCOI College of Education.
10. Renaissance University.
11. ESUT Business School.
12. Enugu State University of Science and Technology.

Enugu has up to 12 higher institutions while Owerri has just 4 namely FUTO, IMSU, Alvan and Imo Poly. Now, the question is, if higher institutions makes prostitution to thrive, why hasn't Enugu become the prostitution capital of Nigeria?

I'm not from Owerri, but I don't understand all these hate and envy on Owerri. Owerri is clearly carving a niche as a relaxation and entertainment city, and not because it has lots of higher institutions rather it is because of its central location in between two commercial cities Aba and Onitsha as well as P.H has helped it to thrive as a hub in relaxation and entertainment.

Get your facts right, Imo poly is in ohaji Egbema LGA and not in Owerri zone.

Owerri has more than 4 higher institutions and the Umuagwo Polytechnic though not in Owerri is more or less in outskirts of Owerri just two towns away from Obinze. Fecolart is in Owerri too but the prostitution ring has nothing to do with the institutions. It is more or less a mafia dealing in human trafficking across countries and cities. The same girls are rotated from Abuja to Lagos, Port-Harcourt and Owerri by same mafia. The students among them also rotate across these cities

The bolded is a consolation explanation.

Owerri is the only place in Nigeria with close to 300,000 young students in tertiary education institutions clustered within a 10km range, including those in Imo polytechnic Umuagwo, you rightly pointed out is more or less in Owerri.

There are no industries or service companies of repute that employ labor in Owerri. Civil servants and retail traders are mainly the employed in Owerri.

So the clustering of the young students in Owerri is behind the brothels, hotels and prostitution business in Owerri.

How could same girls be rotated by the same mafia between cities for prostitution business?

Nonsense. Enugu has 12 higher institutions while Owerri has just 4 yet you keep spewing trash. Everyone has tried to enlighten you but instead of accepting hard facts being presented to you, you choose to wallow in ignorance.

Going by your irrational logic, a city with 12 higher institutions should have been the prostitution capital if it is bases and not the one with only 4. Owerri is growing on the strength of private investors and not the confused state government.

Owerri does not have half the number of prostitutes found in Abuja or Lagos. If you're from Imo State, then you're a disgrace to us.

It did not start of recent: clustering and using underage and early adult students by natives and hotels owners in Owerri to make money from rent and prostitution.

Two campuses of Alvan Ikoku College of Education opened by Mbakwe government in Orlu and Umuahia were suddenly closed down by a new military governor at the instigation of Owerri people with flimsy excuses when Mbakwe left office; students and staff returned to Owerri.

Mbakwe government with the World Bank spent millions of Naira to refurbish a teachers college in Orlu, opened that campus of Alvan Ikoku College of education here in Orlu. It was ordered closed three years later; millions of Naira put in to refurbish the place went down the drains.

Even when Futo, aice and polynekede were in Owerri, people of Owerri told then gov Evan Enwerem to locate Imsu in Owerri. What business might Imsu have in Owerri then if not profiteering from prostitution and advantages of closeness to multi faculty universities?

All governors of Imo state since 1999 except Ihedioha, made attempts to locate Imsu permanent outside Owerri. Even a committee of Ihedioha recommended using Eastern Palm university for Imsu.
Owerri fought all the governors but none of the governors built any permanent university houses in Owerri for IMSU till today.

Imsu has no business permanently located in Owerri.

The fact still remains that Owerri does not have half the number of higher institutions Enugu has which rubbishes the argument that higher institutions are responsible for proliferation of hotels and prostitution. Because if we are to go by that argument, the Enugu should be the base.

Most Staff and even large numbers of students in Imopoly live in Owerri.

Owerri is your state capital, stop hating on it. Achike Udenwa built Imo international market and Imo State teaching hospital in Orlu and no one is complaining yet the only higher institution state government built in Owerri which is IMSU, you want it to be transferred to Orlu?! Why are you so wicked??

Imo Poly is already in Orlu zone, or you want it to be removed and built inside Orlu town before you appreciate it??

I really don't know what your problem is because you're not making an atom if sense.

It’s not true that Enugu has more students population than Owerri. Loads of the government tertiary education institutions that normally contain high students population are outside the city of Enugu.

Above all, the city of Enugu is about twice in size, if not more, than Owerri.

Aifce and Imsu alone with their huge students population are about 1.5km distance from each other. Imagine the effect on Owerri.

You dismiss as trash the wasting of IMSG and World Bank’s millions of Naira through closing the Aice campus in Orlu at the instigation of Owerri;
all because you are a profiteer from the love-vendor and prostitution of young students clustering in Owerri.

In Owerri, IMSG has built other markets than the International market built in Orlu through long term owner/occupier funding.
Listen, before long, concerned Imo citizens are preparing to launch #STOPTHEABUSE of youngsters in Owerri campaign.

Profiteers like you can’t continue to feign ignorance of the fact that clustering young people in a little Owerri space gives rise to having them lured into prostitution.

Owerri with 870,000 population but about 300,000 of the population are students!!!!!!!

You don’t see that as abnormal clustering of students with all 6 tertiary education institutions in Imo state in Owerri;

whereas, Orlu with 480,000 population has no tertiary education institution.

You must be out of your senses or driven by profiteering in Owerri to condone the abnormal clustering of tertiary education institutions in Owerri in Imo state, at the exclusion of other parts of Imo state.

Enugu state you cite example with does not concentrate all it’s government tertiary education institutions in Enugu alone. Too many of the government tertiary education institutions in Enugu state are outside Enugu.

The 12 higher institutions I listed in Enugu are within Enugu metropolis and its suburbs, that's why I didn't mention UNN.

You lied that Enugu is far more populous than Owerri, now I have given you the current population figures by a reputable organization only for you to shamelessly jump to another irrational logic.

You pull 300,000 figure from your anus and claim that's the student population in Owerri. If Owerri has 300,000 student population with only 4 higher institutions then Enugu should have about 900,000 student population.

You really discuss like someone who is not educated and I'm beginning to question your mental health.

Your mental problems are already seen by a discerning public given all the efforts you have put here to defend concentration of all government tertiary education institutions in Imo state in one small Owerri space, while nothing is left in the vast lands in rest of Imo state.

Someone who profits from prostituting young people is mentally sick as well.

Your moniker of Bastardwike referring to the governor of Rivers state shows a lot about your mental health.

I campaign for redistribution of government development resources in Imo state to all parts of Imo state.

You campaign for limiting government development resources to only Owerri area of Imo state - another sign of your mental health problems.
Industries and government tertiary education institutions are the foundation for modern development anywhere found in the world.

Do you mean Orlu zone or Orlu LGA? And does your silly 870,000 represent Owerri municipality or Owerri LGAs or Owerri zone? It is very silly to claim Orlu, which has not even gain the status of municipality, has a population of 480,000. With strategic value in mind, Oguta should be favored over Orlu.

There's a difference between a city and a local government. A city can have some or all part of several local government. For example owerri covers Owerri Municipal, Owerri North, Owerri West and even some parts of Mbaitoli such as Ogbaku can be described as being part of greater Owerri area. Imo Poly is in Umuagwo in Ohaji which is not far from Owerri.

You made a strong argument there that puts in the trash bin that Owerri is full of prostitutes because there are many universities in the city. The question that people who belong to this school of thought is, does Owerri have the highest number of higher institutions among all Nigerian cities? The answer is NO. While higher institutions can feed the hospitality business, it is not a cause of it.

In my opinion, prostitution in Owerri is not worse off than other places. The only reason it seems so is because not much apart from hotels and bars is happening in Owerri. The moment industries start coming to Owerri, you won't even notice the so called prostitution as much.

I don't know if your problem here is gross lack of comprehension or just playing to the gallery. What do you understand by the term "metropolitan area"? Is Orji, Egbu, Nekedi, Avu, Obinze and the other suburbs you mentioned not part of Owerri metropolitan area? Your argument is neither here nor there and is bereft of sound logic. Is Lekki, Ikorodu, Iyana Ipaja and the rest not part of Lagos now? Were those areas part of Lagos in say 1970? So, why would you limit Owerri to its 1970 limits when it has obviously grown beyond that??

So, you're now more knowledgeable than a globally recognized institution that did the estimate and presented graph and parameters?

Na wa for you.
