There is always a cheaper version of expensive and redistribution of wealth. My understanding of the market is you pay the excess for the premium names and not it quality. Here we have laboratories/test centres that test cheaper products against expensive premium and the results are always alarming. Surprise! The cheaper products always performed better and gets higher marks than the expensive ones. They do this to avoid producers/brands from misleading the consumers/public that their products is the best.
Why should I buy a Versace jacket when an Oakwood can do the job to keep me warm?
why wear oakwood when there's #1,000 doing same job perfectly.

I don't know about others,if I can afford that versace, I will wear it. You see this life,it has no duplicate. The first I check is this, can I comfortably afford it

Is it just me or Construction Quality in Nigeria has not improved in the last 20 years.

No innovation, just same old style and material.

We've very mediocre designers and Architects, with Construction Professionals not pushing any boundary at all.

We cannot continue in this brick and mortar way of doing things and expect better results.

This depends on the following:

1. How wasteful your installer is?
2. The thickness of your pop board

But give or take, expect 4sqm.

I commend your effort in impacting young ones. However I think that is a different topic entirely. Buying Gerald instead of Long span does not stops one from giving back to society. Bill Gates live in Medina where average real estate cost is close to $3million. It didn't stops him from helping people all over the world. He didn't move to Newark New Jersey because the reduction in the cost of living can help more people.

If you are the one standing in the front in suit. what you are wearing are not just nice stuffs they are luxury to some people. Apple fan boy is a discussion for another day

Smiles.

Bill can afford the moon but he chose the earth. He does not do Gucci or Versace even though he can afford to buy off the company, Hushpuppies does.

I’m not going to remember Bill because of what he wear or where he lives but the change he brought to the world.

I can’t do material stuffs when I’m surrounded by hundreds of brainy young Nigerians who need a helping hand. Every savings matter to me.

Maybe one day I’d be able to afford Gerald and still help a lot of people.

It is charged per sqm. Volume, location and most importantly type of design are major factors in deciding rates per sqm. Don't let anyone deceive you that there is a fixed rate per sqm for POP ceiling.
There is what I call
Budget designs(image 1),
Average design(image 2) and
Luxury design(image 3)
In budget designs, one is expected to use a bag of POP cement for 2.8 - 3sqm, 2 - 2.5sqm for average designs and 1 - 1.5sqm for luxury designs. So, since materials involve and time to achieve these designs ain't same, it is expected for rates to vary. Talk of quality ceiling or POP Precast vs Plasterboard is a discussion for another day.
At the moment based on the present hike in POP materials, you can get a good ceiling from 4,000/sqm. Maybe a little lesser if your project is in the eastern part of the country(POP materials is cheaper in the east at the moment).

The above was my reply to a similar question over a year ago. A bag won't get more than 3sqm even for a flat ceiling, likewise a bag might not get you more than a sqm for a complex design.

Since your are always at home during the day, you will spend more on solar panels so that you can still use the power over night. therefore you will be spending more than 500k for a stable supply. But if you do have electricity of 10 to 12 hours a day, you can still cut the cost.

PLAN A

4 Pcs of 150ah battery. 60,000*4=240,000
10 PC's of 200 watts panel. 26,000*10=260,000
2kv inverter 105,000.
Mptt charge controller 40ah 25,000 (for fast and accurate charging)
Wire from your solar panel to batteries 8,000
Accessories to hold your solar panels on your roofing 10,000
Workmanship 10,000-15,000

Total 660,000.
For a 4 bedroom and a mini duplex. Mansions and big duplex will cost x 2-3 of this for a better supply.

PLAN B

3 Pcs of 150ah battery 60,000*3= 180,000
8 pcs of 150 watts panels. 21,000*8= 168,000
2kv inverter 105,000
Wire 8,000
Accessories 10,000
Workmanship 10,000-15,000

Total 501,000
For a 3-4 bedroom flat

PLAN C

2pcs of 150ah batteries 60,000*2= 120,000
6 pcs of 150 watts panel 21,000*6= 126,000
1.5kv inverter 75,000
Mptt charge controller 25,000
Wire 8,000
Accessories 10,000
Workmanship 10,000-15,000

Total 370,000
2-3 bedroom

PLAN D

150ah battery 60,000
3pcs 150 watts 21,000*3 = 63,000
1kv inverter 45,000-50,000
Charge controller 8,000
Wire 8,000
Accessories 5,000
Workmanship 10,000

Total 205,000..
1 bedroom

Note: the only place you can cut cost in this my post is the inverter. You can buy used inverter to save cost.

solar inverter isn't nepa or generator, the more appliances you on, the faster your battery will run down. you will need to be cautious of your usage by switching off bulbs, fans and every other things you aren't using

I use plan B due to bad electricity in my area. With this plan, I use the power from 6pm till next day. I hardly on Gen if not to pump water.

This solar is better than our noisy generator(if you have the money) cos I did the calculations myself fueling gen overnight and maintaining the gen. There is nothing to maintain while using solar.

The only disadvantage is raining season since there won't be much sunlight then. But still, you can use nepa to charge during the day or generator to charge at night and you will still use the power overnight. 4-6hours nepa/generator will charge it full if there isn't sunlight at all throughout the day. But the best to charge is sunlight cos it will give it accurate charging and will last longer than GENERATOR and NEPA.

Good morning,
Please i have few questions
1) are the batteries brand new or fairly used?
2) Can the 2kv Inverter carry a deepfreezer and other house appliance?
3) I get up to 5hrs Electricity in a day from PHCN, so i'm thinking of getting Inverter without solar panels ,will that be enough to charge the batteries to 100% capacity?
4) If i get Inverter system without solar panels and after some years i decide to add solar panels, do i need to change the inverter or that same inverter will work with solar system?

I'm not an installer but from my own lay man's knowledge
1) can't tell. but make sure it's tall tubular batteries. they are better
2) depends on the wattage of your appliances. same appliances with same capacity eg microwave/ fridge can have different wattage, so the lesser the wattage the better. you can have a single 200watts bulbs consuming more than 10 5watts led lights. mind you for optimum battery performance you only use 50% of the battery juice. I can't lay my hands on the formula for determining inverter and battery size, for starters you should write down all the appliances you'd run on the inverter, sum up the total wattage of all of them and the time each of them is supposed to run.
3) if the 5hrs isn't during the peak sunny period, get solar panels.
4) you don't need to change the inverter. just buy the panels together with a solar charge controller.

When buying tiles, ensure you do the measurements accurately with your tiler and also ensure proper conversion from sqm to cartons and lastly if possible, after agreeing price with supplier, go with your tiler when going for pickup.

I just got swindled of 90+ cartons costing over ₦130,000.

Lesson learned.

I know all tribes in Nigeria have bad people, but we need to be wary.

When I bought cables, it's the same thing until I stood my ground.

When I bought conduit pipes, it's same thing. They sold fake 20mm at the price of original 20mm Dignity pipes. I stood my ground and returned all pipes

Now it's tiles from Orile.
This criminally minded Patrick Ebere knew what he did, smuggled all the tiles in the truck before my arrival to make U turn to the other side.

Nothing to be angry about as you failed to do your checks. How can you tell us that you accepted him by his words, took the loaded tiles and left the market only to come back and complain here.

Do you know he can defeat you in a judgement?

I don't usually engage in online exchange cause it adds nothing.

All the scenarios you posted are possible, but in this case none of them.

1. I was with the driver from Orile down to my site. Hence you case of driver is non-existent

2. Tiles are with me and immediately we offloaded we counted. So talking about site theft is also not the case.

What has happened is a clear case of deliberate intent to cheat.

Receipt showed ₦1,398,000
Amount paid ₦1,533,000

What was supplied Tally's with ₦1,398,000

But he lied that what he loaded tallied with what I paid, whereas that's a lie.

I hope you can read between the lines.

Matter of being defeated in court is DOA.
Receipt you issued showed a figure, but what he received as payment showed another figure.

Getting to court is for him to defend issuing a receipt with lesser figure vs accepting more than what he ought to have accepted
