So snow is now the odd side, would you rather be beating by the scotching sun in Africa?

You stated and I quote "Experience master, did you know that more people die from heat waves each year than from cold?"

Now that statement above is a complete lie. So saying a lot of story subsequently that is irrelevant to the purported statement does not make any sense. I suggest that you swallow your mistake and move on. Progression in science is not based on the kind of irrelevant long-winded reasonings you are exhibiting here.

I looked at the edited part you added and see that you are even contradicting yourself. If studies that demonstrate that cold weather is more dangerous should be interpreted with caution simply because of possible incomplete data from tropical 3rd world countries, on what logical basis are you then asserting the opposite so confidently without any verifiable data

Thanks for your patience. You provided valid points to assist the misinformed but he keeps twisting the defence and contradicting himself.
I don't know what it takes for one to admit a simple mistake and move on. That issue is not worth debating, it's a simple fact. I only wonder the kind of "researchers" we have. His stance on environmental issues on the first post is flawed

Thanks bro. He was obviously grasping at straws, but I had his time today. There are plenty of misinformed stubborn persons like that here on Nairaland. We'll deal with as many as is within our limit.

That's the point - it is not material things that makes for a person's happiness otherwise developed countries won't have higher suicide rates. There are many social supports she'd have had in Nigeria that are not available to her in Canada.
The weather is not a problem if you are HAPPY. Complaining about weather is just a sign of general unhapiness

Kudos. Some profound statements.
We need some material things but there's no correlation between one's possessions and happiness. Happiness can't be bought.

She should shut up and stop being ridiculous.

so shoving snow that takes less than 2 minutes is so life crushing that she sees it as a sacrifice?

Some people really knows how to nag.

If her full senses were working she would have known that people have been living there and other colder places for thousands of years. Even with the cold there are people who would still leave a safe warm climate and migrate to colder regions.

If not that she is chasing clout, she would have known that one of the "worst" places to live in is the tropical weather. Infested with bugs, mosquitoes, venomous reptiles and other disease carrying rodents ( almost all year round) before crying over cold weather that last not more than 6 months all together in a year.

She should stop nagging and come home, after all even with insecurity that she is complaining about, 200 millions Nigerians are still living in Naija.

Instead of being grateful to God for the opportunity she is here nagging.

Edit.

For those of your insulting me. Look up the number of people that died from heatwaves in the last years and compare to dying from cold.

Or the number of people dying from hunger or malaria (tropical disease) every year.

My point is life is not easy anywhere and shoving off snow off your car is a little inconvenience compare to what most people go through in lives everyday around the world.

When are we going to start appreciating God's favor in our lives?

This guy has read the book "Wealth and poverty of Nations" by David Landes ,I feel you brotherly cool

Maybe not 2 mins exactly, how much time did it take her to clear her windshield that it became such a burden that she has to complain?

I have been living abroad even before you were conceived. I know how much time it takes to get snow of my windshield and drive off. I also know that you have to lay snow mat on your shield so you don't have to scope it just pull it and you are ready to go.

I also know that before you park you have to anticipate the weather by looking it up and then prepare for it.

I could also infer from your post how limited your knowledge of things and how the world around you is.

Ode I don notice you so run along. grin

Congratulations, one day we too go leave this shithole.

Not just depression but like most illness they all have triggers. So I don't get it what is your point?

There is depression that has nothing to do with circumstances or environment just like hereditary madness. But most have to be triggered by external circumstances

The bolded is a rant out of stack ignorance. By the way, which snow can you shove in less than 2 minutes? I guess a Nigerian snow.

I shove less than 30 seconds when in snows and I live in alberfa that gets quite a ton.

There is nothing technically wrong with the post, the challenge is perhaps an insensitivity to the audience. Not every message is meant for everybody. When you present your 'problem' to people with seemingly 'bigger' issues, there is bound to be conflict and a disconnect. For instance, communicating the challenge of scraping the snow off YOUR CAR, with your PHONE IN HAND and BAG TOSSED CARE-FREELY on the backseat, without the slightest worry about how vulnerable to the possibility of being mugged one is (impossible, does not just happen in obodo oyinbo) speaks to the reasoning that Canada and indeed, oyinbo countries are not comparable with life in Nigeria. Its like somebody in Lagos making a YouTube video on sweating and the boom of handkerchiefs...it is simply not news, rather it is simply, part of the life. Heat and Sweat = Handkerchiefs in Lagos, Nigeria; Cold and Winter= Jacket,Snow,Shovelling.

Canada is big enough, there is enough space for everyone duly qualified to go. No need for some to return to accommodate you.

No need for bad belle for everything.

Her information is useful to some people. You truly have to appreciate people sharing information. I would have appreciated such info before leaving to live in a temperate environment those many years ago.

Even within a country, weather can affect where you choose to settle. Chicago or Miami, Paris or Nice, London or Edinburgh, etc,

Shes lying to you people. The city or apartment complexes hire contractors to clear the snow. If you own your own house, you can also hire private contractors to clear the snow on your driveway for the whole winter season. Worst case, you can hire some local kids, pay them 20 dollars or so and they'll do it.

Lastly, most cars come with automatic car starters. Or you can buy one and get it installed. You can start your car anywhere. Sit inside your warm house while you car gets warm. You can turn up the heat in your car, etc. Snow and cold is not an issue. You can solve those problems easily.

This woman has an agenda and is trying to discourage people for whatever reason to come to Canada. SARS and Buhari are killing people. Unemployment and poverty is on the rise in Nigeria. And what's disturbing her is snow ? She's too foolish to realize this will make people want to come to Canada even more.

She is not discouraging any one. You can tell somebody who does not live in a snowy country. You cannot say it's everyone who will wait for doorsteps to be cleared by others before going out. You mean it's every community you will see local guys ready to clear your snow? shocked

Whenever you tell people about own experience they call it discouragement. All they want to hear is that the president, monarch or prime minister is your neighbour and Na you dey run things. They want empty bragging. Then will be pestering "baba, assist me Na".

Have a simple argument with them here and they tell you that you are second class citizen abroad and you wash dead bodies.

Our people just have too much belle abeg.

I have experience living in Canada. The white man is very organized and has structures in place to make their life very comfortable. This video was done in bad taste. She knows what she's trying to do. Some countries shouldn't be compared to others period.

I don't envy folks living in those countries with extreme weather conditions.. If only we had good leaders and everyone doing what is right, who would dream of running overseas? instead the Whites would be the ones running to Africa to enjoy our weather.

I hope Blacks in Africa get their acts right someday.
Lol to each his own. As far as I'm concerned, Nigeria's weather is extreme weather.
The moment you land in Ikeja or Abuja you start sweating like Christmas goat then you get to the streets to see everybody's eyes red, let's not deceive each other that is extreme weather condition grin
