When I verify the NIN it was my details that was captured on bvn that was there, so it is untrue that it is blank. Your data is already captured, all you need to do is to print the NIMC card

same thing happened to me then I used my neighbor's phone to check the 346# and compared the number and his NIN it was the same

Actually, if you have your BVN done at the initial stage, you automatically have your NIN. That is so true.

Now the issue is this. The system automatically generates your NIN after registering your BVN then, but with no biodata of yours. That is, NIN with blank details. So, you will still need to visit Nimc office to capture your biodata details.

If Nigerians weren't funny people I wonder how just 40mil plus only registered for NIN something that's been going on for almost 10 years now and it's free for that matter... Now there's a new policy see the rush , crowd etc just like in the time of bvn Nigerians don't learn... Any NIMC employee using this opportunity to be corrupt and charging people 5k, 10k, to expedite there nin process may u lose your job and those willing to pay bribe after not doing what you should have done for years may you lose that money you want to use as bribe ..

That NIN is not yours. It simply means that you bought a reassigned SIM card which have been used by its previous owner to register with NIMC.

The *346# SSD code is a project that wasn't thought through before it was implemented. It has a serious security breach that needs being corrected fast. I had wanted to comment about this issue before I came across your post.

Many people have lost the SIMs they used to register for NIN. These mobile lines are already connected to the NIN of their respective owners and dialling *346# will only show the new owners, the NIN of the previous owners.

The big, unforseen problem here is that someone who isn't knowledgeable in this matter would take the NIN shown to be his and may even go as far as using the NIN to register his/her other lines. While some scammers would start dialling the code on their numerous lines in search of compromised NIN numbers which they can use to register their lines. When they carry out any illegal deals with the lines, the wrong person would be arrested.

my brother never did NIN registration before but got it through BVN bank link. He did BVN registration in 2014 so you can easily get NIN if you did it BVN in 2014

To start with i want to commend this brilliant post because the writer raised a very salient point. And i want everybody to take note of it. To be honest, i smells security bridge very soon on people's Biodata Like in my own case, i registered with NIMC when the project was launched newly at their office Alausa. Infact we were amongst the very first set when their Alausa office opened. It was fast, instant and no crowd that year. We were given the very original computer colored printout with Nimc logo behind with a additional photopy of it for lamination. After several years of going and back and forth for plastic card i got tired, and i sticked with the Computer printout copy for my day to day transactions. Unfortunately along the line, the sim i used when i registered my NIMC was recycled by my network due to the fact that i abandoned it for a very long time.
Back to the present, mid October this year 2020 i went to do some transactions around Alausa, luckily for me i decided to branch at NIMC office, like play like play i received my plastic card since 2013 lolz!
My concerns is i have linked my NIN with my new lines but i dont know how my old registered line with NIMC that is presently being recycled and belong to a new user will not affect me or the new user of my old sim?
Also, i noticed on my plastic NIMC card the NIN number is not appearing on it, you can only see the NIN number on the paper printout and laminated copy.

This is it: when I wanted to do my international passport fee months ago, I was told that I needed my NIN to proceed. There was no Nimc in operation then due to Covid, fortunately for me I found out that I already have NIN courtesy of my BVN registration, I quickly presented it.

On getting to NIMC, they checked it on their database and told me the NIN is blank and I need to do biodata capturing before it starts to functioning.

In a nut shell, you may have your NIN via BVN registration, but you stil need to activate it at NIMC office before it is valid.

Very true but we nigerians are too compliant. We don't no d power we have as a people. We allow d govt to threaten us& get away with it. D same govt that has failed in it's primary responsibilities is threatening nigerians & everyone is running all over d place. No matter d level of gun violence in d US & threats by any govt, Americans will never give up their guns because they no it's their right to have guns.
