lols... Geographical terms are different from Dictionary Meaning... Rotation of the Earth is different from Revolution of the Earth... check your Geography Text... There are numerous Scientific terms that are not present in CONVENTIONAL DICTIONARY... We learn everyday... Neither am I too big to be CORRECTED
Bro leave Geographic terms out of this
I just wanted to air my view in the simplest way

Revolving means for something to move around a circle, and revolute means Having the edges rolled with the abaxial side outward or for something to get rolled or recurved on itself.

Even when you check the dictionary for revolve
the first example you will see is “the earth revolves around the sun”

I don't want to drag further but I hate when people try to appear smart where there is no actual need.

There are a few layers to your question(s), but I’ll attempt to share my knowledge

Due to the movement and position of the sun over the year, different parts of the earth experience different lengths of daylight following the seasons.
The countries closer to the North or South Pole experience these differences more than those close to the Center of the earth (the equator).

This part maybe a little confusing, but is necessary: Conventionally, the earth is viewed a circle (sphere) with 360 degrees. This is the introduction of the idea of longitudes and latitudes (do a little more research if you want a deeper understanding), but it is assumed that every 15 degrees represents 60 mins, therefore if you cross the international dateline from west to east, you gain a whole day. Each of the 24 areas (consisting of 15 degrees) is seen as a time zone.
You know when it comes to time, or the movement of the sun, we think east-west not North-south. Now picture a circle, let’s start from the middle (the part where you can draw the longest horizontal line (diameter) across the circle). If you have the right picture in mind here, you’d notice that dividing that diameter into 24, will give you the biggest single part compared to if you move the line northward or southward and still have to divide it by 24. In Nigeria, I recall comparing sunset times in both Lagos and the east (around the same time), and I think the longest difference I noticed was 30ish minutes. I was probably 9-13yrs old when I may these observations.
So Nigeria falls within a 15degree zone and so we don’t experience drastic differences in daylight durations.

Again the variations are more pronounced away from the equator, northbound or southbound. Canada is the second largest country, after Russia and is in the northern hemisphere. These two reasons makes the variations of daylight or sunlight more pronounced with the seasons, therefore countries such as Canada, US, EU countries, some Asian countries adjust their clocks to maximize the use of the sunlight. In the Spring (March), they ‘Spring forward’ an hour, and in the Fall (last sunday in October in Uk, first Sunday in November- US and Canada), they ‘Fall back’ an hour.

Summary: Different time zones as you move east to west between any two longitude lines- this accounts for the position of the sun as the earth spins round its orbit.

You really know it, man. I am impressed.

Let me add this:

Time zones are human creation.

They are based on longitudes alone o. I have read latitude here.

Yet to understand this explanation o.
We don’t notice the Earth spinning when we look at the things around us, because they all move with us in exactly the same way, held firm by gravity. Even the air moves with us as the Earth spins. That’s why you don’t feel a constant breeze.

Here on Earth, your house will stay where your house is cos they move with you as the earth tumbles

The Earth is a sphere that rotates around its axis while the sun is stagnant. Since the earth is a sphere, sunlight cannot reach every side at the same time, so which ever side faces the sun, that part automatically gets daylight (sunlight).
Since the earth is spherical, it has 360 degrees. Divide 360 by 24(hours) it equals 15 degrees. If you chose a point latitude 0, longitude 0 you arrive at a point lets call it meridian. The countries that are on the line fall under GMT +0
Every country that is 15 degrees off the meridian becomes GMT +1, and so on until you get all 24 time zones. The GMT +1, +2 etc indicate how much time should be added to GMT +0 .

Thanks man. I just learnt from this your explanation

Earth Rotation determines change in night/day across the globe as well as different seasons of the year... But Longitudes of the earth determine the time variation.
Each 15 degrees longitude represents an hour change so if London is on Longitude 0 degrees and Tokyo is on Longitude 45 degrees - Tokyo will be 3hrs ahead of london
Good explanation... !

Earth science is a field of study on its own.

The earth rotates at a constant speed. As the earth moves, everything else move. Hence, no changes in the location of the family house

Lies...

When an object moves in a circular path at a constant speed, it is still accelerating, because the direction of its velocity is changing.

AT LEAST YOU MUST LEARN IT IN JUNIOR CLASSES , IT'S TAUGHT AS INTERGATED SCIENCE.

For your information is not all students that offer geography in secondary schools. So you need to learn how to respond to people's questions or post politely.

Your physics teacher should be flogged. Earth's constant rotational speed produced negligible acceleration cos the centripetal acceleration will always point to the center

So how is earth different from an object moving at a constant speed in a circular path.

For something to be 'circular motion,' it just has to move in a circle. For example, a toy train on a circular track has circular motion. For something to have 'rotational motion,' it has to actually have something that it's rotating around (called an axis).

This post is educational and informative.

But I'll like to know, at what pace does the earth rotate and who or what is turning it around to keep it rotating?

If you mean the speed at which the earth rotates around the sun, it is about 1674km/hr. It is relatively a high speed. Consider a commerical jet speed at about 900km/hr, that is fast eh. To what keeps it rotating, the sun gravitational pull. The sun gravitational pull puts all the plannets in our galaxy around there orbit. To put this in perspective. Put down a bowl of water, look for a turning stick and stir the water from the middle of the bowl, now Look for a table tennis and drop it near the edge of the bowl. If you stir the water fast enough, ball will keep moving around the bowl along the same path as long as the water keeps moving around and will eventually come to the center of the stir. Unfortunately, the sun gravitational pull is becoming weaker on our Earth and in some billions of years (not sure) the earth will drift away. Dont be scared, we will not be here to witness it.

Thank you for the insightful explanation. Though, I'm not a science student but I'm beginning to get the insight.

that's if the Sun hasn't expanded and engulfed/destroyed the earth

earth isnt flat, it rotates around the sun ..
No. The planet earth exhibits two motion types at the time. Earth rotates on its polar axis (the earth pole). That one brings day and night. Takes 24hours to make one complete rotation.

The second one is the revolution of the earth around the sun. This revolution takes 365¼ days to complete.

Due to the different time zones which varies between countries.

Nigeria falls under +1 GMT.
Any other countries in our time zone will use the same time.
