inumidun2010:Bro leave Geographic terms out of this I just wanted to air my view in the simplest way Revolving means for something to move around a circle, and revolute means Having the edges rolled with the abaxial side outward or for something to get rolled or recurved on itself. Even when you check the dictionary for revolve the first example you will see is “the earth revolves around the sun” I don't want to drag further but I hate when people try to appear smart where there is no actual need. 2 Likes |

lokzie: You really know it, man. I am impressed. Let me add this: Time zones are human creation. They are based on longitudes alone o. I have read latitude here. |

Seebrian:We don’t notice the Earth spinning when we look at the things around us, because they all move with us in exactly the same way, held firm by gravity. Even the air moves with us as the Earth spins. That’s why you don’t feel a constant breeze. Here on Earth, your house will stay where your house is cos they move with you as the earth tumbles 2 Likes |

femi4: Lies... When an object moves in a circular path at a constant speed, it is still accelerating, because the direction of its velocity is changing. |

Ustec:Your physics teacher should be flogged. Earth's constant rotational speed produced negligible acceleration cos the centripetal acceleration will always point to the center 1 Like |

femi4:So how is earth different from an object moving at a constant speed in a circular path. |
Re: Why Do Countries Have Different Time Zones? by femi4: 5:53am On Dec 28, 2020 |
Ustec:For something to be 'circular motion,' it just has to move in a circle. For example, a toy train on a circular track has circular motion. For something to have 'rotational motion,' it has to actually have something that it's rotating around (called an axis). 1 Like |

This post is educational and informative. But I'll like to know, at what pace does the earth rotate and who or what is turning it around to keep it rotating? 1 Like |

mzfunshy: If you mean the speed at which the earth rotates around the sun, it is about 1674km/hr. It is relatively a high speed. Consider a commerical jet speed at about 900km/hr, that is fast eh. To what keeps it rotating, the sun gravitational pull. The sun gravitational pull puts all the plannets in our galaxy around there orbit. To put this in perspective. Put down a bowl of water, look for a turning stick and stir the water from the middle of the bowl, now Look for a table tennis and drop it near the edge of the bowl. If you stir the water fast enough, ball will keep moving around the bowl along the same path as long as the water keeps moving around and will eventually come to the center of the stir. Unfortunately, the sun gravitational pull is becoming weaker on our Earth and in some billions of years (not sure) the earth will drift away. Dont be scared, we will not be here to witness it. 2 Likes |

paulolee:No. The planet earth exhibits two motion types at the time. Earth rotates on its polar axis (the earth pole). That one brings day and night. Takes 24hours to make one complete rotation. The second one is the revolution of the earth around the sun. This revolution takes 365¼ days to complete. 1 Like 1 Share |

Due to the different time zones which varies between countries. Nigeria falls under +1 GMT. Any other countries in our time zone will use the same time. https://www.successjoint.com/current-time-in-nigeria/ |
