Maybe you're right. I for one think it isn't fair if the accused has spent time in jail or been subjected to any form of physical or career-related suffering as a result of the accusation.

Defamation is a civil matter and is not equivalent to the criminal destruction of a man's life through false accusations of rape. It should be made a criminal offence, not just a civil one. Most of those slay queen's don't have a dime to pay compensation anyway, let them serve jail time.

Oga why you mumu like this na. False accusations are worse than rape. For false accusations you go to jail 14yrs for what you did not commit that is if mob dosent kill you first, Rape victims can recover in less than that time. Both expirences are very horrible

Same measure of punishment for the raper shd be meted to the wrong accusers because such action is deliberate,it often lead to the victim commiting suicide or being mad.

If life imprisonment is for the raper then it shd be for the person who accuse the person wrongly too.

If you falsely accuse someone of rape, it means you want the person treated as a rapist- jailed, maybe killed and stigmatized for life.

If you are caught doing that, it is only fair you face what you wish or wanted for that person.

That is just one side. The other side is, you consciously undermine and trivialize the struggle of genuine victims- arming rapists and rapists apologists in the process.
Do you know how it will feel to lose everything because you get accused of something u did not do...its quite delicate because ur reservations about undermining the struggle is quite valid.
