Okay. Thanks for the advice.

So 4 by 3 throughout would be okay including the base of tank?

3000 litres up and 5000 litres down.
if you go back to my post, you will see I clearly stated it's for a single tank. What you plan to do here is bigger so you will have to up your materials to 5 by 3.

Next time, kindly state everything you plan on doing

Thank you all the same. This is my initial post and it was clearly stated.

"Good day and Happy new year to everyone.
Unique thread I must say.

Advise pls:
What strength of material should be used for tank tower for a bungalow that would carry 750 gallons of water at the top and 1250 gallons down?

H channel? What strength?
Galvanised pipe? What strength?

What would they cost?"

two tanks means a storey building or more which should be at least 25ft tall. You should use 5 by 3 channel. You should budget #550,000 depending on your location. I'm so sorry for the error in communication.

sure it's ok to add another tank so as to provide adequate water for the needs of the occupants. I suggest you add a 750 gallons of tank to the one you already have. And yes it MUST be constructed on site. I don't know the height of the building to inform you on the possible costs

Good House and Season Greetings

Happy New Year and wishing you all the best of 2021

Pls I want to fill a Land and would need some clarification or advice as listed below

1. Do I need to clear the land of the small plant and dirty on it before filling ?

2. What type of filling is best and economical

3. How much is a truck of filling and what size?
Someone offer 17k per tipper and the filling is from demolish house mixed with Road digged sand because they demolish some house for road expansion

Note: Reason for the filling is to avoid the land been water logged. Anytime it rain, the rain water and water from Drainage always sit on it

Attached is the land for your attention

Kindly advise what step to take

Thanks all

Economically, you sand fill AFTER you have put up a building foundation on the site at the very least. You use the height of the foundation as a reference point as to how high you should sand fill.

To sand fill an empty land, you should be prepared to follow up by planting trees, flowers and carpet grass or rain (erosion) will wash the sandfill away over time which may turn out to be a wasted effort.

Thank you Sir for the honest advice

Pls how do I control the rain water and gutter water that flows to land whenever it rain and whenever the drainage overflow because I open a hole for the rain water to flow out but the gutter always return water through that hole to the land anytime it overflow

How do I go about it?

To be honest, your immediate worry is not water flooding the land but the pure water sachets, nylon bags, plastic bottles and rubbish I see on that land from your pictures.

Over time, the plastic rubbish will devalue the land more, making the land difficult and expensive to develop than flood.

So evacuate ALL plastic waste from the land first. Then either close eye and kuku fence the land to prevent the neighborhood using the land as a rubbish dump site and the fence will prevent the neighborhood water rushing and settling into the land.

If immediate fund is an issue, do a dwarf wall (fence) to prevent water getting into the land and burst a hole in the fence to let out water into the gutter.

I think you need to work on this principle. You did something similar to me when I asked to help me check the quotation I got for protectors.

Considering the fact that we are all here to help each other
, I think if you see someone being ripped off, you should be able to say something.

Personally, I believe that workmen shouldn't get a penny from the materials that they quote. Include what ever gain you want to make in your workmanship.

It's for this same reason 2 roofers lost their contract with me. In addition to their workmanship, they inflated the measurement for the roof to include an extra 100k. They didn't expect me to go straight to the company and ask for an installer.

So, my brother. I think you should be able to review. There should be a charge for workmanship there. This guy should not be ripped off on materials as well. Thanks.

It is very Sad, human nature!
He himself was reviewed here properly before someone gave him a lifeline but all of a sudden, he starts playing 'not my business'.
Like they say, Danger Over, God forgotten.

He has clarified his reasons. Look at it from this angle. A few weeks ago, I posted the quotation I was given for plastering and the person requested for 110 bags of cement for a 3 bedroom in addition to nearly 300k as workmanship. Spyder880 said it was far too much. Someone else came to quote and we arrived at 60 bags.

Now, imagine I didn't bring it here or didn't get external opinion or someone said he can't review the quote because he won't be the one to handle the job.

I hope you understand my point now.
Have a nice day sir.

Its really Sad.
I should not drag this issue but to be honest, there is no excuse to justify his not chipping-in an opinion, as a Professional in the field.

All you need to do is issue a Caveat at the end of your review to say something like: my review is based on Price in my locality, which may not be the same in yours. Finito.

IMO, it is a selfish behaviour to just refuse and it negates the spirit of brotherliness here. So many people review quotes here, not minding their locality or any other excuse, afteral it is not a Bibeli.

We sabi ourselves. undecided
Anyway, the matter is closed, pardon my bringing it up, l post based on the last post l read.

Sometimes things are not as complicated as we make it seem.

From the pictures it appears your land is already fenced...If so, clear the debris and sand fill your land above the drainage and gutter height. If you have to, then block off the gutter drain off into your land for now. when it is time to build, you'll incorporate drainage plans into your design.

No big deal here.

That's exactly what made hidden roof the most expensive type of roof. The additional cost of:

- insulation
- waterproofing
- cladding
- felting

You just have to do everything and anything to prevent water.

________

Everything in picture below was just to prevent water from having direct contact with the concrete structure. It cost us over 800k just to achieve that alone. Then, when it comes to felting. The cost of purchasing and installing original Italian roofing felt can roof some bungalows.
/
The problem is that we lack the right materials and products. I could go to Home Depot and get everything I need relatively cheap as plug and play and it will stand the test of time. We just don't like to pay close attention to details. Quality Assurance is almost non-existent. Eg. Most of the welding jobs I have seen among the artisans in Nigeria are very shoddy. And these are the fellas that are supposed to handle projects?

What I chose to do is pay the workers to do the manual part of a job. When they finish, I bring the right tools to finetune it. I have been able to maintain my sanity doing it this way.
