May God continue to bless your hard work... I have noticed people have different experience in Germany.. I have read about somebody on nairaland here who lived in Siegen, didn't work for almost seven months after arrival but still had good testimony of how he later made money in DE while studying even with good grades in his studies...

I am assuming most Nigerian students are very poor with multitasking because in Nigeria, it is mostly just a narrow approach of studies alone in our universities

Hope when you jam the masters in DE you won't be forced to retract your statement

Good evening Gentlemen and Ladies.

I am currently rounding up a B.Eng in few months and had planned bringing my wife around to join me (family reunion; before Easter) just because we´ve been apart long enough which we both find disturbing.

Our plans:
1. Having babies while i either look for/get a professional job or start my masters. Like everyone else, i have 18months to get a job or get into masters. But, she also want to work and support me. I wonder how this could turn out.
2. Ease to relocate if everything goes south; maybe moving to Canada/USA together if it comes to that. At the moment, i still want to try my might in DE.

I live and studied in Bayern (not Munich). People seem to prefer other big cities like Berlin, Hamburg, Köln, Dusseldorf. The advantages aren´t lucid to me since i´ve only lived here.
Though am not completely clueless with the immigration laws; i don´t want to end up being smart by half.
a) Does anyone have experience on this or knows anyone who brought in their spouse as a student/job seeker?
b) What are the basic things i might need to fix before being eligible to invite her? (Ausländerbehorde is yet to open, internet sources might just be a mirage/deceit). I need a firsthand info.

This is a serious decision for us, so i urge you guys to really give your best bite. She is a Nairalander too and she would be reading comments as well.

Danke/Thanks.

Hello, you can apply for Canadian visit visa using conference which relates to what you are studying in Germany presently, visit and come back i believe this can help you in future when you decide to apply for student visa or PR to Canada. Make your research and decide which option that can favor you either to go as a student or apply for Pr. For me German experience was not so conducive for me so i have to leave but before i left i visited, come back and finally hit the road. If you need more explanation do not hesitate to reach me. I can understand the feeling of being where you think is not suitable,

If you don't mind, which country are you in now? Is it an English speaking country and did you enter through education route?

I just went through you last write up about Germany. Lastly, could you drop more information about the conference stuff in a different dead thread and the financial implications involved to have an idea.

Thanks so much for your prayer.
Your assumption is not entirely correct. MSc in Germany is really not easy, very soon you will realize what I just said if you finally see yourself in Germany. Arriving from Nigeria, you will be met with many things you were not used to. And Germans are not easy to please, they themselves are very hardworking and expect you to be hardworking too.
Many bosses (Chef) here come to work early and do overtime, unlike in Nigeria where bosses mostly come late and go early. They have a hardworking spirit in their veins.
The first course I did here in Germany, I failed simply because I didn't have time to participate well in our group task due to my work. I thought because one of the group members was in good terms with me, he would cover me up. They wrote an email to the lecturer telling him that I was not serious in my group work, and that was it, I failed., as if that was not enough, I also failed my language course because according to my school rules and regulation. you must not miss more than 3 times, I missed four times due to my work.
All my messages to the lecturer to allow me to write the exam did not yield any fruit. He replied "I am sorry, there is nothing I can do about that". I sent him another emotional email hoping that he would be touched, but he never replied again till now, I failed the A1 exam.
Remember, in Nigeria, I was among the best graduating students and never failed any course before but in Germany, I failed two courses in just one single semester before I got myself and went the extra mile and learned how to take courses small small while working on my personal and financial development. I understood fully that the number of courses you register is not really as important as the number of courses you pass. Germans are very strict people and are not moved by your cries and emotion. They don't really understand what it means to say I am sorry when you do something wrong or break the law

My point is this, don't assume people are not multitasking, it is really not easy, and this statement is fully understood when you come here yourself.
The reason why I am going the extra mile is because of my family background, I know that I don't have many options. Some people here have siblings scattered all over the globe and their papa hold cash, so they have many options.

Settle down first before you start talking of family reunion... If I were you now I would apply for a good master's program first while you continue to look for jobs as you carry on with your master's ..If you get the job, you can then start the family reunion... But you should book for appointment for your wife now because it takes sometimes up to one year to get family reunion appointment... Just continue to pet your wife and tell your wife sweet and romantic things on phone... You studied engineering, you will get a job don't worry... What's your field in Engineering?

I don't have 100% personal experience as regards this but what I will advise is that you focus on getting a Job after your program first, unless you have load of cash. Getting a job anywhere (not even in Bavaria) should not be hard since you mentioned B.Eng and I am therefore assuming your German proficiency is on point.
The load of cash here is because if you are trying to take on a dependant, it means you need to be able to cater for them (at least on paper).
If you are working as a student, you are mostly likely not doing it full-time for the whole year or during the 18 months, you don't have a sufficient contract acceptable at the foreign office. You will then need additional blocked account for the (each) dependant to address this.

For you to take on a dependant, it means:
1. Accommodation must be sufficient, I think the minimum is 14 sqm per head, depending on your present accommodation, you might need to 'upgrade' it for you to file for a dependant.
2. Health Insurance, I am not sure your present student subsidized health insurance can cover that for a dependant too.
3 Your net income needs to be sufficient.

However, since you are not working, the assumption is that you can't provide this for someone 'out-of-the-box' and hence the need for additional blocked account.

The Canada route is also viable but it has its own requirements and like someone mentioned already, family reunion takes time and the earlier she start the better.

Personally, I won't add a dependant if my own path is not close to 100% in terms of assurance yet but that is just me.

also, few people have had exceptional experience on part(s) of the requirements sha but just like any other thing, it is more of a miracle.

Hello pls how will like to know how to process for German student visa
Basalt:

Hahahahahahaaahahah, when I got my German visa, this is exactly how people reacted. The question on their lips to date is HOW POSSIBLE? , because to them it seemed impossible since I came from a very poor family.
They all thought maybe I won a scholarship or something like that. In the place I work at night, I opened up to one of my colleagues that I have another job (mini) in addition to my studies which I don't joke with, he thought I was joking. He asked HOW ON EARTH CAN A HUMAN DO THIS STRESSFUL NIGHT JOB AND STILL DO ANOTHER JOB, AND TO THINK THAT HE IS EVEN A STUDENT... IS THAT POSSIBLE?
I found out that people always ask HOW in my case. All glory belongs to Almighty God.
Well, that's apart.

I agree with you, Germans are not friendly. They hardly talk to you if you don't talk to them, and they are strict too. They are mostly introverts but honestly, they have one of the lowest unemployment rates in the world. The problem is that we find it hard learning the language. Some of us don't also have the intention of learning the language. Deutschland is not English land, we need Deutsch to go far in Deutschland. if you intend to live in Germany, then you need to learn the language. If we can learn the language to at least B1 and pass the Goethe B1 test before graduating, it will go a long way in widening our employability.
The good news is that it is no longer compulsory that you must get work in your area of discipline which means you can as well learn a needed skill and get work in other fields if possible or even leave the country to settle in other countries, the main aim of almost every person that left Nigeria for studies in abroad is to remain in abroad after his or her studies.
It is extremely rare to see anyone who plans to return back to Nigeria.

So anywhere at all that gives you the opportunity to stay after your MSc, why not?

From my own end are no cost problems. I haven´t paid my insurance for long, company pays, so i don´t really know the cost effect.
We´ve reached a logic gate.

Oh Dear you are right and among the lucky ones Germany favors but mind you that job will tell on you sooner than you know it up to this very moment i still feel pains on my knees because of German arbeit. I still miss Germany sometimes it is a well organized Country beautiful and very neat I respect them for that and also their Tech and how vast their manufacturing sector is .I also learnt that some challenges of International Students are reducing that things are getting better now. I wish you all the very best.

I am in the USA, I Studied International Business Masters. So i got a conference in International Business in one of the Universities in the USA in 2018 and i travelled for the conference and came back to Germo mean while you may be given 2 years visa when you apply for conference so that is how i left, i am not studying here i am tired of studies. I wanna make money. COVID has changed alot but after the covid i believe things will be better so if you must apply for a conference get one that relate to your field of study paid or unpaid, package yourself well. Be so confidence on your interview day, when answering questions from visa Officer look directly to his or her eyes ( make eyes contact) you must know or research more on the conference to defend yourself, relate the conference to one of your course if the visa Officer ask may be. Make sure you are either in your 2nd or 3rd semester so that they will not bounce you.

DAramis:

If you don't mind, which country are you in now? Is it an English speaking country and did you enter through education route?

I just went through you last write up about Germany. Lastly, could you drop more information about the conference stuff in a different dead thread and the financial implications involved to have an idea.

Lol, I am one year and three months in Germany and my own story is different.
Well, let me start by saying that we all have different ways of seeing things and we are all different.
I really love Germany. I have saved alot of money within my 1yr 3 months of being a student, I mean millions of naira.
Imagine what will happen if I stay for five years here. I see myself really making waves in Germany honestly.
If language is a barrier, then break it, also consider going into the IT field because they demand lesser German and there are more opportunities there too.
My number one priority after my studies is being a German citizen by either getting a professional job or by marriage.
Then after getting my German citizenship, even if I must leave Germany, then it must be in a country with a higher probability of making more money, maybe I can try the USA or Australia but not Canada. Canada is obviously poorer than Germany and their Economy is tied to oil which is declining now in value due to the recent global adoption of renewable energy. I also heard of the high rate of unemployment among educated people without Canadian experience to the extent that many Ph.D. holders drive Taxi to make money. There are many qualified individuals living there due to the express entry and whatever you think you think you know, there are thousands who know it better thereby making the competition higher especially if you don't have Canadian experience.
For me, it is one of the best countries if your aim is permanent residency because they give it faster than most countries, but if your aim is making lots of money, then America and Australia offers a better option.
The cost of living is also very high thereby making you earn to pay bills and save little, and the weather is very cold.

Not trying to discourage you but make sure you do your research very well before jumping from frying pan to fire, it's not easy anywhere and the devil you know is better than the angel you don't know.
Bro, please i will like you to put me through, i really want to move to Germany, but the problem is i have no one who will guide me on the steps to take, please here is my email Macjonessparrow@gmail.com i will be glad if we can communicate there and i can ask you some few things and steps to take so i can also migrate to germany too, God bless you bro

I am also interested in moving to Canada . After living here for 1 year , I have a mixed feeling about Germany . I could give it time but anybody who is Germany knows that regardless of amount of years you stay here the majority find the language and the environment unbearable . I say this because I talk to almost all students from Africa and India and Pakistan . Most have the same feeling ....a lot of complaining , lol

That’s one thing I understood really , language is key . It’s not just a barrier for your work or social life but it’s your whole sense of being ,the way you think .
I personally like English (not a native speaker , not Nigerian too ) , it’s easy for me. There is no way I will build that level of thinking in German in the near future , I just don’t see it . Sure you can learn and communicate average enough to work and live but like I said language is more than a tool of convenience.
Knowing German for me is like learning Java for instance , sure you might work on it . One ,do u feel confident enough ?
Two,does it feel like a natural language or a programming language ? Lol
Don’t get me wrong I will still finish my studies , still learn the language , still look for Praktikum but now I have decided to look for any other options .
With that being said I am open to suggestions.
I know there is Canada study route , express entry , PNP .
Peace ✌️
I’m open to arguments and thoughts

Why not endure long enough to get your residency permit, and even maybe your citizenship, afterwards moving to other European countries will be very much easier eventually

Exactly my plan.
Because if you go to a new country, you also start from scratch, maybe another masters etc and your permanent residence is not assured unless you go to Canada which is more flexible.

For me, the essence of leaving Nigeria is to have a permanent residence of a country with a working system where I can make money and have rest of mind.

So even if you don't like Germany, get your papers and then leave for the country you like instead of going there to start afresh.
Well everyone has their own plan

If I get you clearly, you mean after the two years expires, you are expected to go back to Nigeria?
If that is the case, I think it's not for me because going back to bse in Nigeria now is not in my options at all.
If I must leave Germany then that should be to live permanently in another western country or where the option of leaving permanently is higher.

Yeah, I agree with you but body differs. Perhaps you are a lady.
Secondly, you can be rubbing some pain relieving creams everyday you work nd also be eating good food, enough water, milk, pepper soup and be sleeping well, it helps reduce all these and reset your body system

Honestly I feel pain because I work over 160 hrs every month but whenever I remember the monthly salary, I forget the pain and continue because the money is indeed exciting (night job is the best because it pays more and also give you the opportunity to attend all your lectures cheesy)

I am not going to work like this forever, I have a plan that's why my priority now is to enter into IT field, I already have my plans drawn.
