May 2021 is alot of time, however what about all the "confusion" plus back and forth that will come with writing the school for refund and asking the friend to also refund your brother. Dont forget,it's the friend that refund will be sent to directly not your brother and moreover naira people abroad no too good for money mata oo,my own personal advise is to let it go......i know money is hard to come by. two cents.

My little cousin is in a dangerous predicament. He's currently applying for his Bachelors in a London uni and is almost done. Himself and I filled his application together while being guided from time to time by his elder brother who is already over there living with their mum. We have already filled the application form and his elder brother has paid the IHS fee using his card. However, before we paid the application fee, I asked my cousin to review the application for the final time. It was in the course of this that he discovered that 2 severe errors were made:

i. We stated that he'd already paid fees to the school for accommodation purposes (which is false)
ii. We stated that he has no relatives in the UK (which is false as his mom and cousin currently reside legally in the UK, albeit temporarily)

My cousin in the UK advised that we start a new application and see if we're able to link the IHS reference number we were issued from the abandoned application to the new one. But alas, there was no such option when we got to that stage.

This is where the problem lies, what is our fate at this stage, do we forfeit the amount already paid and pay a fresh fee? Is there anyway the IHS money paid can be refunded? If yes, how do we go about it?

An expensive and probably crazy option would be to make another payment of GBP7000 to the school using Form A and then ask for a refund, hoping that GBP7000 will be refunded directly to him and that he can sell same at parallel market rate. Maybe, he can say that he had initiated the payment via the bank and while it was taking a long time, he asked a friend to help him make the payment. He however needs to be careful so the school doesn't see him as trying to use the school to launder money outside the country. He also needs to confirm from the school's website that excess payments are refunded to the student.

He should cancel the application and start a fresh one.
He can get refunds for the visa fee in addition to the IHS paid since he hasn't registered his biometrics. Refunds take around 28 days.

Don't bother asking for refund ge will lose all because the refund will go back to the originating account. Just be careful and learn hus lessons
