The information is true, i work with Telecommunication company(Don't want to mention the name) Sorry for the loss of your Sim card, but right now.. You can't retrieve your line due to NCC and NIMC issue... Federal government have directed that every sim should be linked with NIN and if you don't link your number you can't retrieve your line at the moment...NIMC link to link customers sim from our date base is down for 4days now... And nobody can retrieve any customers line now till the link comes up

Useless telcos, useless government. They announced a week ago that sim swaps/upgrades are allowed as long as you have your registered NIN. Since then I have been roaming mtn centers to be given the excuse that 'server down, please try later/try the next centre'. Using their fool-assery to fvck up my plans.

GodWrites:

Which network are you using?

Go to their nearest office or agent in your location and request for a sim replacement.

Since you have access to another phone, call your network customer care and instruct them to block the line, that's if welcome back will take longer than expected.

Why I advice doing that is so your number wouldn't be used for any fraudulent act.

If it's linked to your Bank, also contact your bank as soon as possible. If possible, deactivate all your cards.

Your lost your phone, and that means your information is compromised.

If you can logout your Google account from every accounts and phone, do that now and change your passwords.

Boys are not smiling.

Play your part, and everything will be fine.

As for your clients, I believe you have a way of contacting them.

Update them of your new number. Make an update on Facebook, Instagram or your website if you have one

Make a post about it, and update your contact page too.

For now, Nigeria is unstable and I'm not sure when you can successfully do a sim welcome back.

Good luck.

Sim replacement is not available for now. All what you have written is not usable at the moment. It is all network.

It looks like you and the OP are not aware of new developments as it pertains to NIMC/NIN

firstly, which of the network are you using. secondly have you gotten all the necessary documents needed. thirdly, where did you go to that you were told it's unavailable for now

All this questions you are asking won't help this man.

NCC has directed all network providers to suspend sim swap and giving out of new sims.

There's nothing he can do at the moment

Did you backup your contacts? You could restore your contacts and send them sms broadcast informing dem of what has happened and the alternate/temporal line they can contact you with while trying to recover your stolen line.

Sorry about the theft of your phone. Welcome back is now available for only customers who have linked their NIN to their lines. Visit any MTN service center with:
1. sim pack of the stolen line or court affidavit
2. Govt. Approved ID, (D. License, int'l passport or national ID)
3. 5 regularly called numbers
4. Last Amount Recharge
5. Date of Activation
6. Current tariff plan
7. Any other relevant information that may help your case.

1. Make sure you get a police report. This will save you from avoidable embarrassment incase your stolen sim is used to commit a crime.
2. Get a court affidavit with any means of Identification. Go to the office of your service provider and get it done
Re: Unable To Do Welcome Back For My Stolen MTN Sim by Chikebrain: 10:02am On Jan 08, 2021
I'm in the same shoe as you. MTN is requesting for national ID for retrieval. Meanwhile I have Drivers licence, International Passport and Voters card. To make matters worse, NIMC staffs are on strike so I can't even register for the National ID.
Even for those who has National ID, they'd still say no network.
I dont understand MTN network. Why don't they just allow people retrieve their lines and get back to their businesses while nimc sorts themselves and then we can now link.

I don't understand why NCC didn't think this through. Have a working system first before implementing this whole NIN linking thing.
