godstino:Please do not mind ignorant Nigerians. I read the fallacies on the other thread with amazement. I am not a dentist but I have got dental problems. I extracted once and there was no redemption for tooth as it totally went bad. Last year ending, I was in a dental hospital, had X-ray, did washing as well. The dentist examined the x-ray and gave me the options available, infact he even strongly advised me against extraction for the tooth I thought we should extract. So don't believe all these stories. Some are even saying they extract to make money, meanwhile RCT is costlier, so it doesn't add up at all |

Damian457:My concern: They should inform the patient that there is an alternative to the tooth extraction. I have extracted about 2 teeth but the dentist just went about the procedure as if there is no alternative. Too bad. I may consider legal action against the dentist |

No Dentist will do extraction without your consent. Secondly the tooth may have been beyond redemption hence extraction was the only treatment option. Be careful with the law suit before it goes the other way. Royruky: |

callmehydee:I did too but couldn't withstand the heat from the pot, the woman soaked Dagunro leaves (mind you there are two kinds, one with thorns and one without thorns, she used the one with thorns including its stems and roots) in palm wine then put it on fire ( she didn't allow us see us what she was using but I managed to), not just any pot but clay pot known as "IKOKO" in Yoruba, boil the leaves for some minutes then put the pot on a small stool, pls do not put it on the ground, nd sit down on the bare floor, opening your mouth right inside the pot, cover yourself with a duvet, the heat from the pot it's all you need, it has to go directly into your mouth, after some minutes you can stand up nd pour the stuff on the ground to see if anything came out, in my case one of two worms came out, white in colour, was told to repeat till everything is out, but I couldn't stand it secondly, the woman was charging too much for it, dunno if you can stand the heat from the pot. Another option, get aspirin and apply on the affected tooth, also buy Dabur herbal toothpaste for brushing, the paste helps too, it'll kill the germs in your teeth, you have to continue using it till it stops, the teeth will break into pieces but it's not gonna be once, it mostly happens when you're eating, I swallow mine without knowing. Lastly, avoid too hot or cold stuffs, sweets and chocolates. Shey U see those ones yarning okoto meow, na because e never do them, mine started from pry sch days, was told to remove d teeth but I refused, you do not cut your head off simply cuz you have headache, make dem dey form ITK for there, Woke, my flat ass! Hope this helps. |

DrFunmisticGlow:in the military, police, prisons, customs, immigration, medical degree holders earn more than their colleagues in the same rank. You don't even have any idea about what you're dabbling into. |

GhostWisperer:in a way, but they hardly get promoted. In the military, a medical consultant will be given a honorary rank of major. They hardly get promoted as much as others officers |

What style of writing is this? How do you expect non-experts to know the meaning of the abbreviations: "HMOs", "NHIS" and "RCT" you used here? Next time, try and define your abbreviations first before you use them in your discussion. Otherwise, your write-up will be meaningless to non-expert readers. |

Damian457:Number one which is cost is to me invalid. You goahead to first tell the patient that their tooth can be repaired and let them decide if they can afford it or not rather than just telling them the tooth shoud be removed. |

No procedure is done without an informed consent from the patient. Did you read the part where I mentioned patients get excited when you tell them about root canal treatment? professore: |
