Nsala soup, also called white soup is a delicious soup in Igbo land. It is the only soup made without palm oil, so it tends to look like a slightly thick pepper soup.

You can use fresh catfish, that is what is surd traditionally, but I don’t like fish, so I decided to use goat meat and assorted meat.


WHAT YOU WILL NEED
-Goat meat
-Assorted cow meat
-Dry fish
-Stockfish
-Uziza seed
-Uda
-Ehuru (African nutmeg)
-Yam
-Dry crayfish/prawn
-Fresh pepper
-Seasoning cubes
-Ogiri (optional as I didn’t use in mine)
-Uziza leaves
-Utazi leaves
-Salt

Let's input the history of Ofe Nsala (White Soup)


Ofe Nsala (Nsala Soup) is a delicious soup, popular in the eastern part of Nigeria. It is also known as ‘‘white soup” because of its light color, due to the absence of palm oil.

The authentic Nsala soup recipe calls for fresh whole Cat Fish, which gives this soup its unique taste. But in the absence of whole catfish, catfish fillets or conger eel can be used.

Ofe Nsala is also similar to Afia Efere, which is the Efik-style white soup, but the extra condiments added to Afia Efere is what differentiates it from Nsala.

Goat meat Afia Efere was my favorite during my stay in Uyo, AKS, followed by Ataama ie Baanga soup. Fisherman's soup is another good one.

Fisherman soup is one of the best kinda soup on the face of the earth.
We got to find out that different countries that love seafood have a way of preparing theirs also.
