oluwatobi43301:Covid has taken it's toll in Canada when it comes to the employment market as well. I recently lost my professional job of two years. There is still an abundance of jobs in my field being advertised and had a number of interviews, but the labour market is so competitive right now, that landing a job will take some time. |

RuudVanNisteroy:I think everyone that relocated knows this before relocating. I have some friends that got something in their field immediately, but that is minority. I am a pharmacist, and I am almost done with my licensing, it takes a year and half. Even a canadian pharmacist or doctor moving to Nigeria will also have to be licensed to practice in Nigeria, it's like that for every professional course. Expecting to get to Canada and start working immediately in your field is unrealistic. As you said, in the long run, it pays off. Most people end up doing much better than they were in Nigeria after 2 years. |

ENG0701:True, the only aspect Nigerians struggle in is relationships, especially the women. A number of them still run back to Lagos to find a husband. |
| Re: America And Canada Not As Advertised by ENG0701: 9:32pm On Jan 13, 2021 |
RuudVanNisteroy:Yes, that is because statistics is not in their favour. There are less than 100,000 Nigerians in canada, most married. There is a very small pool to choose from and also, Canada is not a very outgoing country so few opportunities to meet people |

ENG0701:Winter keeps us indoor for close to 6 months a year lol. And many Nigerian men are not in a hurry to settle down even after they are well established in their careers. |

The set of Nigerian youths going abroad now are more of over entitled and spoilt kids who all they know is professional job. People that travelled back in the days that made far more money and invested in Nigeria were not this lazy and 'professional job' entitled. What happened to cashing out in the numerous opportunities in these countries, you already have the advantage of having 'hard currency' and easier travelled for those with foreign passport or PR. Stop whining on NL or Twitter, get to work. For those doing blue collar job, keep the good work and think of owning a company that provide a blue collar job/service that you have mastered. |
| Re: America And Canada Not As Advertised by Nobody: 3:07am On Jan 14, 2021 |
zorani:You are wrong about Nigerian youths being spoilt, entitled and 'professional job" orientated. Majority of youths are looking for side hustles and some have become entreprenuers and quit their jobs after gaining the relevant professional experience, that will help them run their own businesses. The employment market is unstable and you can lose your job at anytime, and majority have come to realize that working 9-5 everyday for the next 30 to 40 years, with the current state of job insecurity is a dangerous gamble. |

Seems "Mummy Iyabo" and "Mr Bayo" of TwitterNG have camped here. As usual, they never return to Nigeria after so many years neither do their children and if/when they return, they so as dual citizens. Bunch of wicked and hypocritical set of people. |

| Re: America And Canada Not As Advertised by Nobody: 4:01am On Jan 14, 2021 |
Generalkoke:I am not sure about all the details and guidelines on how the TFWP program works. I only know previously it was tied to the employer that sponsored you and were unable to change jobs or work for another employer unless when you got your PR. They made a recent change that if you lost your job due to the COVID pandemic with the employer that sponsored you or if they went bankrupt, you were free to find another employer to sponsor you for a closed work permit. You are free to apply for PR if you meet the requirements and receive an ITA to apply for permanent residency under Provincial nomination,Canadian Experience Class stream and Federal Skilled Trade program. Hope that answers your question. |

ENG0701:You have SENSE. Remain Blessed. The LADY has got facts but no matter what she put up, AMERICA is far far better than the entire AFRICA. I don't know for Canada. I can only talk about where I reside. The QUALITY of Life in America is beyond the comprehension of that of an Average Naija man. All one needs on ARRIVAL is HUMILITY. I left a High-paying Job/position 4 America because of Armed Robbers in Naija. Dey had my itinerary wit dem. Else, I was Financially comfortable in Nigeria. At that point I just needed Peace of Mind. Going Back to Naija will never never cross my mind not even now that things have gone haywire. |

EVILFOREST:Insecurity and the failed healthcare system is what honestly scares me about returning. What I and my family members witnessed in that country will take years of healing to recover from. What have we not witnessed from armed robbery, kidnapping and health misdiagnosis. |

From Recurrent & persistent Robbery 2 Workplace abuses and No hope of getting better at all. I was roughly on 300k monthly years back when I was processing my papers to leave, but I still left. |

SocialJustice:I have advised all my friends to do anything legally to escape the failed state for the sake of their children. As long as we have the current clowns ruling at local, state and federal level, the country is in for a rough ride as the population rockets towards 400 million people over the next two decades. |

[quote author=RuudVanNisteroy post=98027929]I am not shaming blue collar jobs, I did several myself. It is a lot of hard work and you earn every cent they pay you for your time. There are blue collar workers such as plumbers, gas plant operators, truck drivers, welders etc that make more money than white collar workers. However, after a certain age it really takes a physical toll on you. It was exhausting when I worked blue collar jobs even when I was in my 20's.Can i PM you sir? |

I have read so many stories about the hype in migrating to first world countries, and after careful observation both online and offline, I can deduce there are 4 kind of people who write/preach such stories; 1. Those who traveled illegally. 2. Those who think travelling abroad is a get rich quick venture. 3. Those who came from a privileged family. 4. Village people who seek to keep you perpetually poor and backwards. Travelling to a first world country is a good way out of poverty if you're educated and not from a privileged family. Also, do not attempt to japa through illegal means and remove your mind from hitting a jackpot in 6 months after arrival. If you can heed to this advice, you are sure of getting the best out of life abroad. |
| Re: America And Canada Not As Advertised by Nobody: 1:16pm On Jan 14, 2021 |
Summary..... if you can study abroad go asap, this is because Nigerian education system is as good as dead. You can not study in naija and automatically become a skilled worker overseas without first doing a program or a professional course over here. Imagine studying from primary school to tertiary school in Nigeria in English languages and at the end you are been told to go and write English proficiency. This is why all the politicians in Nigeria will never allow their children to study in naija. pauljustina: |
