Considering our climate, Which is more ideal for a 75k miles M278 engine.
0W 40 (manufacturer) or 5W - 30 (benz clinic)
If your MB is W166 ,then it more than just seeking for 5w30 or 0w40 ,what now matters using either with MB approval number 229.5 .
That approval number is what makes the oil suitable for your MB

Actually, I think 5W-30 is also recommended.
For example, my last oil change in the US was with Valvoline 5W30.

5W 40 izzit. I'll go with Mikey on this...then join autologic in the MB approval ratings for the oil to be used.

Go 5W40.that the best for your vehicle. The manufacturer stated 0W40. 0W means winter... The 40 is the viscosity rate. Why stick to a rather lighter fluid cos a benz clinic said so?

5W indicates the lowest temperature, 40 still matches OEM specifications on viscosity flow rate.
Thanks . I understand the parameters, I'm curious about personal user experiences.
I'll settle for the 5W 30 or 40. at bolded was why I didn't completely agree with the guy.
I have two 1litre bottles of Mobil 0W 30 (came with). mad I can't use them

From personal technical experience, either 5W30 or 5W40 will be fine for your car in Nigerian Climate condition.

NB: an engine suffers most wear during cold crank.

Not everyone is interested in performance.

This isn't about performance. Those engines are prone to failure due to our bad fuel. I know a couple of users with first-hand experience

Very very valid point.
Few of my friends with the c300 2019 had engine problems, only the dude with the c400 didn't fall into this mess.

No surprise, the M276 has been in use since 2012. Never been a fan of those 2.0T engines anyway.

I can't stomach the thought. I wouldn't even trade for an A45s with over 400 HP. cry

A45s 4 cylinder with 416HP,that's a huge power for a 4 cylinder.
More power than most v6,the word AMG scares me for no reason lol,but for a 4 cylinder with such HP,I can settle.

But then, you must consider how stressed the engine is. If the regular C300 already has issues, imagine how that one will be. 416 HP from a 2.0 means the engine is running on ungodly amounts of boost to get that power.

Better off starting with a C400, then getting a tune. A turbo V6 will always be better than a turbo four cylinder.

That's a link to one of the numerous failed c300 and E300 engines (hydrolock caused by bad fuel)
