I don't really understand of what importance it is to know the name of God before you worship Him. Is Jehovah same as Yahweh or YHWH? And was that the only name God has in Hebrew?

1. The laws of Moses was for his people. And all
Isaac was a forefather to many Prophets till it reached Jesus. God's final plan was in Abraham through Ishmael to Muhammad. May the peace and blessing of Allah be on them all.

Let me explain mine as regards the above :

Name is a very important aspect our our lives .
Humans , Animals , products , streets , towns nations , foods , idols , cars , stars , etc all have names.
This is for identification .

There is need for identity when worshipping God because there are many unseen entities in the world which are gods . They can appear to the person and manipulate the person for evil .

Exodus 20:2-3 KJV
I am the Lord thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. [3] Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

The reason the 4 Hebrew consonants YHWH was used to represent Gods name was according to God's instruction :

Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.

About Ishmael .
1)Where was it written that he was destined to be the forefather of any prophet?
Ishmael was not a prophet . There is no record of his prophethood .

2) Abraham sent Ishmael away because God told him to . He was not insane neither was he a wicked and abusive father :

And the child grew, and was weaned: and Abraham made a great feast the same day that Isaac was weaned. [9] And Sarah saw the son of Hagar the Egyptian, which she had born unto Abraham, mocking. [10] Wherefore she said unto Abraham, Cast out this bondwoman and her son: for the son of this bondwoman shall not be heir with my son, even with Isaac. [11] And the thing was very grievous in Abraham's sight because of his son. [12] And God said unto Abraham, Let it not be grievous in thy sight because of the lad, and because of thy bondwoman; in all that Sarah hath said unto thee, hearken unto her voice; for in Isaac shall thy seed be called.
God did not discriminate against Ishmael . He blessed him . But his blessings has nothing to do with salvation.

3) No prophet after moses came with any new law or new doctrines . It was the law God gave Moses that is still in operations till today.

4) The only person the Israelites were and are still waiting for is the Messiah . They had the commandment that the Messiah should be followed . Other than that , no prophet dare come up with new laws or doctrines in Israel .

And that Messiah is Jesus who said he has not brought any new law but to fulfil the purpose of the laws .

5) I don't know or see why you Muslims say all nations had their prophets . Nigeria never had any.

6) The purpose of the New testament is to eradicate the old covenant of shedding animal blood for sin offerings and other offerings that has to do with blood sacrifices . Besides this , the law God gave to Moses is relevant then and now . What was forbidden then is not allowed now.

7) Muhammad only copied the stories of the Bible .But the doctrine , sacrifices , retuals , mode of worshipping etc are all pagan related .
That is why Islam cannot be from God.

Thus do We reward Al-Muhsinoon (the good-doers).

And Zakariyya (Zachariya), and Yahya (John) and ‘Eesa (Jesus) and Ilyaas (Elias), each one of them was of the righteous.

God did bless him according to the Bible but he is the illegitimate child since his mother was a bondwoman. God supported him being sent out by Sarah with his mother. He is a lesser man than Isaac.
