Proudly Okemesi Ekiti indigene! I love my town, i love my culture.
Very beautiful culture. This particular festival played a very significant role in shaping Yoruba history. It was during this festival that Fabunmi Oraralada of Okemesi attacked Oyepotun, the Ajele from Ibadan. The attack was what led to the Ekitiparapo (Kiriji) war of the 18th century.

I hope to witness the festival next year.

Indeed, 'TO AN UNKNOWN GOD'

Acts 17:22-31: 22 Paul stood in the middle of the Areopagus, and said, “You men of Okemesi, I perceive that you are very religious in all things. For as I passed along, and observed the objects of your worship, I found also an altar with this inscription: 'TO AN UNKNOWN GOD.

That second picture is the reason why I don't like putting on those fishnet caps, babalawo people don turn am to their uniform.

In Lagos, if you see a man in white lace, white fishnet cap and white shoes, abeg don't say "assalaam alykum" to him because he's most likely not an Alhaji. Rather he's most likely a Yoruba traditional cultist. If you check his wrist and see red beads, haa, dah one na confirm cultist.

And btw, who else finds white shoes annoying and disturbing?
Do you also find white trainers disturbing?

In as much as I am against what they are doing in the above pictures, I take exception to tagging a particular tribe fetish. Are you an American or European? Haven't we seen pictures of people from the east worshiping snakes and mermaids?

What about those from the Niger Delta?

Please stop the hypocrisy.
Why are you against what they're doing?

Wrong. It is Christians and Muslims that worship foreign gods they don't know.

The living God is Eledumare. Jehovah is a Jewish name for the same God. Allah is just an Arabic name for the same God. Jesus is just the name of an ancient charismatic Palestinian carpenter. Mohammed is a name of an ancient Arabic goat herder.
