Mehn, Jenkins went from 100 to 30 in WW84. The prequel was cool, I won't lie, not even the unspectacular final fight ruined it, but this WW84? Nah, e no follow at all for me. It started off well with the whole Themyscira tournament but after that, the movie tanked greatly. The final fight held so much promise with the whole slow build up, but what came next had me SMH in a is-that-all moment.

She shouldn't come back for the next movie abeg. They'd recruit a director that can give such a franchise befitting action scenes.
She'll be back. You can stay away. No be all of us want the kind of fight scenes you're looking for. Other CBMs are there to satisfy your needs.

The release date for this has been pushed more times than i can actually count. These people think Rona will magically just "disappear", China which is one of movie's biggest market has had another outbreak in recent days so i think is actually time to learn and do things "within" the virus. Heck, these people might actually be running at a loss running promo alone for a movie that was supposed to be released as far back as 2019. The model adopted by Warner Bros of making theatrical release were possible and SVOD is the best bet for now of making any decent money of movies, might not break even but it's the sign of the times and there won't be a total loss. To think this model was heavily criticised last year.

I have tried to look at it different ways and everytime i come to conclusion #WW84 was a hot mess and the ratings unilateral agree, even on popular forums like Reddit, it is a general conclusion that it was terrible, it's only here i keep seeing praise for it...well different strokes for different folks i guess.
It's also a general conclusion that it's terrible here. There's only a handful of us defending it. I don't really think saying a movie is just decent amounts to praise. I'm sure you read similar points from the few redditors that defended the movie, as well.

You want what you want and I want what I want. So, let me air my want. I don't ever remember quoting you to tell you to stay away from any movie/franchise you didn't like. Other posts are there to satisfy your attention-seeking cravings.

Yeah, a handful of redditors defended the movie but those bashing it were more and that is saying something.. hypothetically speaking if 100 people saw the movie, 80 said it was terrible, and 20 said it was decent, what will be the general conclusion?

At the bolded. I know you gave a review on here about it pages ago, but i have forgotten your verdict, so i ask for all intent and purpose, what's your genuine take on #WW84? One of the best superhero movie you have seen? Decent enough to recommend to someone off the top of your head? I would really like to know.

The problem is larger than the "weak fight scene". A decent writing and screenplay would have covered all this but Patty Jenkins can't write to save her life.

Fam, I never disputed your statement about the general conclusion. I simply pointed out that the general conclusion is the same here, as it is on reddit, so I don't really understand why you were acting like the majority here were praising WW84.

Not sure that was me. Haven't done a review in quite a while.

My genuine take on the movie is that it's a decent watch. I never recommend anything off the top of my head, at least, since I discovered that dissenting opinions exist. Lol!

I'm truly amazed how it is typical of many Nigerians (hence) nairalanders cannot simply remove bias and sentiment from simple observations.

The intended audience for the ww84 movie (young feminists and youths) did not even like the movie.

Majority of film critics disliked the movie. The complaints were more than just about the lack of action- the plot was full of plot holes, the villain was forgettable, the ra.pe of a man, the uneven pacing etc.

But here we have some nairalanders coming to praise the movie. One spectacular fool even said that it is better than the first one.

Well. I just have to accept that I live in a country where ignorance is pervasive.

Universal and MGM dey waste their Time. They're actually following the Movie's Title to the letter:
NO TIME TO DIE grin grin

Dem no wan lose on hundreds of millions of revenue. Universal is too scared of taking big Losses unlike WB. Besides the movie is solely MGM's, Universal is distributing/partner. Maybe MGM is holding them on an exclusive theatrical release, who knows. grin grin
Same way Legendary Pictures of China is holding WB ransom on a theatrical release for Dune and Kong Vs Godzilla. cheesy

The thing is these filmmakers and actors are too greedy, you know they lose in on some bonuses tied to movie BO performance. That's why most of them are vehemently against Streaming release. Cos it can only be monitored and getting stats and performance of movie by Studio/Streaming Service. No bonuses for streaming.

And Studios with their very own Streamer can take all the profits/revenue they make to themselves without the need to share any to anyone or Cinemas. grin
That's how Streaming Services gives studios profitability and edge over Cinematic release.
Theaters are choking and they won't like that idea too. grin I always knew they would push back that release date. It's too close to call and they're scaredy cats. grin

It's a tale of survival.

You don't need to sway my views. You just need to help me understand your perspective. A few points is ok, no need for the essay. Though I would also appreciate that, as well.

On the other one part wey I reason dey make them fear like dis ...you know say Universal na one of the biggest loser's in Box office in 2019, after WB. Even by December 2019 to February 2020 Universal carried their flopping spree until 2020 Pandemic ..

They're the ones with the Flop Cats and 2020's Dolittle. Those money loss shake dem wella. grin

A really long read but good constructive criticism points. However let me attempt to address some, i have written them chronologically to match yours.

1) The setting of it been 80's has a chronological importance and i think it was perfect. Remember the first part was set in 1918, it began with Diana seeing a picture in Paris in modern times making her reflect on a past ( going back to when Steven Trevor plane crashed at Themiscyra in 1918). So both WW (2017) and WW#84 are still origin stories somewhat, so they couldn't just jump a whole century to 2000's.

2)The "Themiscyra Amazon Olympics" scene was ok too and been an "origin" movie, it was okay to visit her roots in the first few scenes of the movie and quite frankly it was the best scene shot cinematography wise in the entire movie.

3) The Camp mall fight was outrightly wack there's no way to even look at it. I think Patty Jenkins was riding on the euphoria of the first movie, which if you rewatch, you will discover it's just an okay movie, nothing exceptional.
I found the mall scene to be a fun sequence but to each his own.

4) To me, i am still struggling to find the point of Chris Pine in WW84, what purpose did it serve? the movie could quite go on without him without this added drama of "Rapist wonder woman".
Closure! That's the point it served.
About the implementation, I guess they would have been safe if Diana and Steve's host didn't have sex.

5) I think the "Dreamstone" is of the most stupid subplot in a major superhero movie in a very long while. Couldn't get the hang of it. It worked out in the comics doesn't mean it will work in live action, the writing for this was abysmal.
You're going to need to break this down for me.

6) I would like to absolve my man Mando from this debacle of the character "Max Lord" . The writing for it's character was shambolic and frankly in essence lead no where great. Patty Jenkins should have left Cheetah as the one and only Villain and it would have turned out fine.
Man almost caused a global catastrophe but that wasn't great enough for you?
So where's the great place Cheetah would have lead? Or are you talking about if her character was written differently?

7) Of course when the movie has been a shii show for over 2hrs 30 mins, you should expect a horrible ending and it didn't disappoint.

Who the hell cast Kristen Wiig for villanous and serious role as the Cheetah? This woman is a comedienne and haven't seen her in anything other than that. It was the first thing i was angry about when i first saw the trailer.

The golden armour was literally in all the promotional photos only for it to appear for 5 seconds.

All this been said, i liked the movie for its aesthetics, there was a reason Pattt Jenkins was pushing for a 4K release on HBO max, the shots where truly breathtaking and the score was quality.

They even had the nerve to even add a post credit scene...

Again, I'll need a better wording of what you're going for here. Anyways, I guess we can shake hands over our mutual appreciation of the OST and leave it at that.

Very good movie. About friendship and traveling with your friends to save a person from other people. Very funny too, had me split in half. Watch with your family, or your wife’s parents.

Apart from the intense sex scene, you know.
Might not be a good idea.
But yeah, it's a great movie.
One of the best horror/thriller I've seen

A very mediocre movie..
The movie was supposedly set in the 80s but there were barely any 80s music in it which i found strange.
And after all the hype on cheetah, I found her underwhelming infact she barely had much screentime as cheetah.
Weak plot,
Action was Zero
And the final battle was nothing to write home about,
Just like WW2017 final act that was also average, only this WW84 was way worse.
The only good about the movie was the set and designing, costumes also.
Gal Gaddot is stunningly beautiful so she was the reason i gave the movie a 5.5/10.
