In Nigeria who is a thief and who is not is subjective, for example an oga that earns 50m a year by shaddy deals will call a domestic staff a thief for stealing 20k worth of food items.
simply because that's not his level, although he himself will gladly steal millions and call it business.

It's a hard thing to find an honest man without a changed heart in Christ Jesus.
Peace

You have said it all!

Not when u entrust them with your life. Don't gamble with your life, don't , cos it's not worth it. whosoever cooks your food, have the power over your life. By the way there are millions of chef out there u can employ and give ur damn trial, and not a busted devil.

One doesn't need a chef. Just buy from eatry in bulk....

Sir, let me tell you something. Nigeria is called a "shithole" country, not just because we don't have electricity or running water or good roads or good functioning schools. Its also because the average Nigerian does not know/understand the duties of a citizen and does not realize nor care about the larger effects of their actions on society at large. We are still caught up in an 18th century jungle justice system where we think an individual can be the Judge, Jury and Executioner all in one even when we have written laws, organizations and systems that should decide outcomes. I am telling you that society at large is worse for it because we think we are being "kind" by letting a thief go. Nigeria is full of thieves because we let them all go, big and small thieves alike. As to your question "he was stealing sardines and tomatos and stuff and those things have receipts which tells you their value." No sir, what you paid for something does not necessarily determine its value under the law. This is why I say let the legal system handle it. We as average individuals are not equipped for this.

One of the wisest posts I have read on nairaland in a long time..... also ppl don't adhere to the rules. They love "helping" ppl which basically means subverting the rules .... the emphasis is subvert the rules and by doing so build a stronger relationship for the person you subverted the rule for.

Good idea. But then buying from restaurant can be costly and doesn't suit family life n planning.

There is absolutely no need for security guards, house maids, personal assistants etc. These ppl are not worth it. So long as there is an income disparity they will continue to pose a security threat. One can do without them. I know like 2 ppl that have used dogs to replace security guards.

"I Now Understand Why People Treat Domestic Staff Like Sh*t" - Wakanow CEO Narrates Experience With His Chef

The CEO of Wakanow, Bayo Adedeji took to his Facebook handle to narrate his experience with his chef which made him change his perception about Nigerian domestic staff, IgbereTV reports.

According to him, he treats his chef well, pays him a reasonable monthly salary and even adds additional cash as transport allowance.

He found out that the food bill was going high despite the fact that he was not entertaining guests due to the pandemic.

Mr Adedeji said he then decided to go shopping himself but only two weeks after, he was shocked to find that some of the supplies had finished. He was later disappointed as he caught his chef moving some foodstuff from his house.
