as a medic I would tell u its worth it. but I would also advise you that you start preparing yourself for international exams like uslme and plab from your year 2 just study with their materials that is at the same level of your current class and during your final year you can attempt ielts if you decide to go for the uk pathway and plab1 towards the end of your house job or immediately after your house job. 1 Like |

Considering job availability and lifetime opportunities It is worth it. One thing I know is helping people is not what it is painted as. If you don't want to see death there other specialities you can choose from. Dermatology, radiology, endocrinology and Pathology. If I were a medic I will choose the following above. I know they see the dead during some period in med school and maybe housemanship. 1 Like |

TheBoy1740:You're confidently spewing rubbish. Pathologists are just like detectives, they conduct and interpret laboratory test results for treating patients..How can you have a dead person as a patient?? |
Re: Is Studying Medicine Worth It?? by TheBoy1740: 11:44am On Apr 18, 2021 |
MrEgghead: There is no need for profanity. Saying their patients are the dead is actually figurative. They do conduct and interpret laboratory test results as you've said, but they're not primarily responsible for the patients they do it for. A surgeon or a physician would be the primary doctor of the patient and then send samples to the pathologist. But if the patient dies, the pathologist becomes the primary doctor in the case of doing an autopsy. |

TheBoy1740:I thought that they're different kinds of Pathologist. I don't expect a Chemical Pathologist handling the dead. You're still very right. |
