As a police woman, I absolutely condemn this!!! There is an outrage all over the country about this issue. Let us get our priorities right as a nation. We are still fighting for other things so they can recognize us fully, and now this........ 3 Likes

It's a common knowledge that Police women suffered sexual harassment, thus the reason decent women ain't joining the force . This is very discriminatory and borne out of hate for the woman in question. She must have turned down the advances of her boss, and she decided to have a baby to wade off advances and have her peace ! 4 Likes |

Wrong analogy. U can't be in such profession and get pregnant. A policeman can impregnate a woman who isn't a policewoman |

PROFESSIONAL ETHICS: She knows and understands the law regarding pregnancy out of wedlock. The law has been there. She was employed last year, only to get pregnant the same year. This is against the ethics of the job. If this is not curtailed, a lot if unwholesome attitude will be displayed. On the other hand, the law should also be applicable to the male folk so as to make it balance. Most of this laws are to be repealed to suit the enabling environment. But seriously getting pregnant without marriage is morally wrong even though it's gradually being accepted in the society. 1 Like |

BeeBeeOoh: bukatyne: But in this case it's quite different. A male police can get 100 women pregnant without it directly affecting his appearance or hinder work performance. You can't be employed as a marketer in the bank today & get pregnant the next month, same with several other establishments both private & public. Military does it too. If she wants to get married, she needs to get clearance because most forces will do background checks on the partner to be sure she's not been used as a bait. Now will she be able to carry out her normal duties without "occasionally" feeling sick, absent, etc. Or who takes her duty when she finally put to bed? Those are the reasons behind the action. We all know the level of manpower, further reducing it without adequate plans by her boss won't go well. She isn't queried for being sexually active but pregnancy. I am not saying it shouldn't be waved but people shouldn't start addressing it as a gender thing. There are several issues and misnormal in the country that are still been practiced. I.e. rejection to treat persons with gun shot injuries without police report, etc. Even with the level of crime in the country. DECENCY3:It isn't about morality or gender but clear job ethics. She can be sexually active but don't get pregnant because it will definitely affect her performance. Of course there are probation period in which case no leave. So how will she get maternity leave. 1 Like |

If the 'unmarried' (no discrimination against her marital status) policewoman is allowed to continue in the service and the NPF don't give her an official maternity leave (because such must comply with rules), will she keep going to her duty post? These same set of people will still complain and condemn the NPF |
Re: Sack Policemen Who Also Impregnate Women Out Of Wedlock - Okei-odumaki Urges IGP by bukatyne(f): 8:19pm On Jan 28, 2021 |
IMASTEX: I don't do gender reasoning and I think the woman in the OP is wasting her time. Except a policeman comes to the office to declare that he got a lady outside wedlock pregnant, the force would not know hence no punishment. Also, I doubt an average woman 'pregnanted' by a policeman out of wedlock would report him to the force: Of what use is a jobless expectant father to a unwed mother to be? So trying to adopt same law for policewomen and policemen by natural laws and order makes no sense. Men and women are not same; the earlier we understand that, the better for everyone. That said, the law does not make sense if it is because of the normal physical limitations of a pregnant woman. Married pregnant women are not sacked from the Force. Except they have proof that pregnancy disturbs a married woman and a single woman differently. A wiser approach would be the advocate to study the law and look for a work around; propose same treatment if the mother is wed or unwed; etc. Sadly, common sense and wisdom is not common when people result to gender politics. 3 Likes |
