Hmmm.... this is wayyyyy more serious than COVID-19..... people will develop respiratory problems...and lung cancer if they keep breathing this polluted air. Cleaning g up or masks will not solve this one. An environmental health hazard affecting locals... why isn't Wike running around to stop it?... same way he be aggressively running around to enforce wear8ngbof masks and curfew? Good governor indeed.

There's serious air pollution in port harcourt. I clean my house twice everyday but within few hours everywhere is covered again in this dangerous black substance that causes people to have lung pains, cough, etc. My neighbour had to cough throughout the night, even up till this morning. You could still hear him coughing while I was making this video. Gov Wike is trying but I believe some people are somewhere sabotaging his government to make him look bad. But he is a great governor that has so done well for the Rivers people

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=phaXTePIl-c

Look at an electorate and tell me if these people don't deserve the kind of leaders they get. This one is already making an excuse for a governor who is aware but yet to address the issue.

I remember in 2017 while we're undergoing Nigeria Navy Training in Onne, Portharcourt, very early in the morning around 12 - 1 when we're on morning doubling that is when these guys will be bunkering oil or cooking oil.

You will be seeing thick black smoke that early in the morning in the distance with accompanying fire. This thick smokes will envelope the entire city like plague.

If you cough eeee, you will be coughing out thick black mucus. The same thing when you sneeze or put your finger inside your nose, your hair will be so dark as if you used dye. Around October when the rain is usually heavy, the rain will be biting you as if you're poured yam water.

After the training, I find it difficult to breathe, it took drugs and supplements to return to normal...

I still wonder how the people living there for 10 years are coping. The training was just 8 months mind you.

It's terrible!!!

When you have a substandard President or Governor/Government, that's just what you get. I hope you , your neighbor and they entire neighborhood gets checked out now either in the Hospital or your private doctor, for future reference. That lung pains you're talking about , is just cancer in the making. In a normal organized Government where things function, the moment that smoke comes up in the air. The regulatory agency in charge of clean air storms in to conduct an extensive proper investigation to figure out what the hell that could be. Now , based on your explanations and photo of the said occurrences, you can tell that was never good and posses a great health problems. This is what these foreign companies do, not just in Nigeria but allover the World, including America. However, in other countries, if they're found to be engaging in these kinds of act, they're punished with a gigantic financial penalty.
Don't give me a crap of how good your Governor is, that falls under his Leaderships and should take proper action to hold anyone involve accountable. These companies know they can get away with killing anyone in Nigeria without paying a price , that is why they've continued to engage in this kinds of behavior. Rivers State or that area Government agency , Pollution Control should immediately step in and investigate and punish that company right now. I forgot, they'll bribe whomever is in charge and case close and people die gradually.
The reason you all should get a paper from a Doctor or Hospital now is, people will develop serous medical issues from these Pollution and will begin to die. When that times comes, Lawyers will be needed to file cases and their defense will be, if you really had any medical issues why didn't you all go to the Doctor. And for anyone who didn't , their cases will be denied.

Install purifying machines ke? How? It’s best we address the elephant in the room once and for all. The indigenes of rivers State are the ones causing the black sooth through their illegal makeshift refineries. They burn a lot of crude oil to make condensate (for petrol production). It’s a big business in rivers, Bayelsa and delta states but no one wants to blame it on the real culprits (the indigenes of these states) rather all would make frantic efforts to shift blames elsewhere.
